Abstract

Basketball performance depends on strong anaerobic endurance due to repeated high-intensity movements such as sprinting, jumping, and rapid directional changes. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is widely recognized as an effective method to improve anaerobic capacity because it reflects the intermittent demands of basketball and enhances metabolic efficiency. This study aimed to examine the effect of HIIT on the anaerobic endurance of basketball players at the Halilintar Bukittinggi Club. This experimental study used a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The participants were 12 basketball players aged 15–18 years selected through purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of a 6-week HIIT program conducted three times per week. Anaerobic endurance was measured using the Running-Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST), with fatigue index as the main indicator. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a notable improvement in anaerobic endurance. The average fatigue index decreased from 10.11 to 6.07, indicating an improvement with Cohen’s d was 0.90. Since a lower fatigue index reflects better anaerobic endurance, this result demonstrates a meaningful performance enhancement. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant effect (t = 8.24; p < 0.05). In conclusion, HIIT is an effective training method for improving anaerobic endurance in young basketball players.

Abstract

Motor development in early childhood (ages 4–6 years) is fundamental to children’s physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional growth. However, structured and developmentally appropriate movement programs in Early Childhood Education remain limited. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a rhythmic gymnastics model tailored to young learners using the ADDIE model. A research and development approach was employed, including needs analysis, model design based on music and fundamental movements, prototype development, expert validation, and field testing. Nine experts assessed the model using a 4-point Likert scale covering content, movement design, musical suitability, and practicality. Field trials involved 33 children across three early childhood institutions, supported by observations and teacher feedback. The results showed high validity, with Aiken’s V values of 0.8074 (complexity), 0.7778 (suitability), and 0.6568 (motivation). Implementation findings indicated active child engagement and positive teacher responses regarding ease of use and contextual relevance. Overall, the model is valid, practical, and effective in supporting holistic motor development, offering a feasible approach to enriching movement-based learning in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study examined pressing intensity in the 2024/25 Indonesia Liga 1 season by analysing defensive line height, defensive actions in the opponent’s half, and their relationship with team performance. Using a cross-sectional design, secondary aggregate data from all 18 clubs were analysed through descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation, and regression analysis. Defensive line height reflected the average positioning of a team’s defensive unit, while opponent-half defensive actions represented the frequency of pressing in advanced areas. The results showed a negative correlation between defensive line height and final league ranking, indicating that teams with higher defensive positioning tended to achieve better standings. Defensive actions in the opponent’s half were positively associated with total points, suggesting that more aggressive pressing may contribute to improved performance. Regression analysis revealed that defensive line height explained 32% of the variance in points obtained. Sensitivity analysis further suggested that lower defensive line height may support counterattacking effectiveness, whereas higher opponent-half defensive actions were linked to goals from open play. Overall, pressing-related indicators provide valuable insights into team performance and may help coaches design tactical periodization and position-specific conditioning programs.

Abstract

Attentional control is a critical cognitive component in precision-based sports such as wushu, where athletes must coordinate complex motor actions with sustained focus. While mindfulness training has been widely studied in sport psychology, its integration into sport-specific training contexts remains limited, particularly in martial arts. This study aimed to examine the effect of embedding mindfulness practices into regular wushu training on athletes’ attentional control. Methods: A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed involving 23 adolescent wushu athletes (aged 16–20 years) with at least two years of training experience. Participants underwent a four-week mindfulness-integrated training program (3 sessions/week, 30 minutes/session). Attentional control was measured using the Attention Control Scale (ACS). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, paired sample t-tests, and effect size (Cohen’s d). Result: The results showed a significant improvement in attentional control scores (p < 0.001), with mean scores increasing from 60.30 to 75.91. The effect size was large (d = 3.92), indicating substantial practical impact. Conclusion: Embedding mindfulness into sport-specific training may effectively enhance attentional control in wushu athletes. However, due to the absence of a control group, findings should be interpreted cautiously. Future studies using stronger experimental designs are recommended.
