Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is known for its autonomous sensors, where it has been found to be useful during the development of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. However, WSN is also known for its limited energy supply and memory space, as it carries small-sized batteries and memory space. Hence, a data compression approach has been introduced in this paper with the purpose of solving this particular issue. This paper focused on the performance of the Arithmetic Coding algorithm. Temperature (Temp), Sea-Level Pressure (Pressure), stride interval (Stride), and heart rate (BPM) were chosen as the dataset in this project. Based on the results, the compression ratio of Temp, Pressure, Stride, and BPM were 0.428, 0.255, 0.217, and 0.159 respectively. From this analysis, BPM produced the best compression ratio. Undeniably, the Arithmetic Coding algorithm is one of the best methods to compress real-world datasets. Abstract

This paper investigates the performance of an elegance code set algorithm known as Flexible Cross Correlation (FCC) code to be run into a simulation test of proposed RoF system. Executing OCDMA Code into RoF framework is seen as a promising technique for enhancing spectral efficiency and meanwhile enhanced the length of fiber optic cable and data bit rate execution while reduce the passive equipment device. This code can efficaciously reduce the results of phase-induced intensity noise (PIIN), it has the multiple access interference (MAI) cancellation belongs to RoF system and at the same time simple and easy within the code construction. Bit error rate (BER) performance is assessed for this proposed simulation system. The evaluation made based on the performance of fiber length, data bit rate, related with Bit Error Rate (BER) and also the complexity of the system. The extensive simulation results reveal FCC code possibly will accomplish sufficiently up to 51 km at BER 10-9 for data rate 155 Mbps as matched to 622 Mbps with exponentially increases at BER 10-12 error floor and it is fit for short haul networking such as FTTH and local area network (LAN).

Abstract

This paper presents the design of compact multi-mode microstrip resonator filters for dual-band application. The design is simulated using Advanced Design System (ADS) 2016 software. The benefit of the proposed filter is found to have a dual-mode frequency, where the odd-mode resonant frequency is the fundamental frequency represented by the length of the resonator while the even-mode resonant frequency is represented by the length of the stub. To validate the design, a prototype is fabricated on Rogers RO4003C substrate and measured using PNA Network Analyzer.

Abstract

Measurement of soil moisture commonly by applying the soil moisture sensors is to measure the condition of the ground around which is relatively not wide. Therefore if applied for the large-scale, repeated measurements are required in accordance with the determined point. As a result it takes time to get the whole results. With the existence of wireless sensor technology then this problem can be overcome. This wireless sensor system will create a network consisting of nodes and server. In this study the server part is a server computer that requires a web server application together with its script to display and store data, while the node part is the data reader system. In the data system reader module, the sensor device is required as the input that is SEN0114, the processor is a microcontroller, while the wireless uses Wi-Fi module that is ESP8266. Wi-Fi topology used later is infrastructure (using access points). In this research, it begins by testing the sensor and then testing the data validation between the node and the server. SEN0114 sensor has different value from the American Standard Method (ASM) that is 0.922%. While the data validation test of the measurement result is Wi-Fi ESP8266 module which has a maximum distance of 14 meters toward the access points.

Abstract

RTS Game is one of the popular genre in PC gaming, which has been played by various type of players frequently. In RTS game, NPC Defense Building (Tower) has attacking behavior to the closest enemy without considering certain enemy parameters. This causes the NPC Tower to be more predictable by the opponent and easily defeated if NPC attacked by enemies in the group. Thus, this research simulates NPC Tower using Hierarchical Finite State Machine (HFSM) method compared with Finite State Machine (FSM). In this study, NPC Tower detects enemies by seeing at four parameters namely NPC Tower Health, Enemy's Health, Enemy Type, and Tower Distance to enemies. NPC Tower will attack the most dangerous enemy according to the ‘Degree of Danger’ parameter. Then use the decision-making logic of the rule-based system. The output of NPC Tower are three type of behaviors namely Aggressive Attacking, Regular Attacking, and Attack with Special Skill. From the test results of 3 NPC Tower, Kamandaka NPC Tower with HFSM method is winning 8.92% compare to Kamandaka Tower with FSM method. For Gayatri Tower NPC obtained equal results using both HFSM and FSM. Meanwhile, Adikara NPC with HFSM method is 4.62% superior to Adikara Tower with FSM method.

Abstract

A dual resonance reflectarray unit cell element has been proposed which evolved from a square patch element to enhance its bandwidth performance. A bend in the width of the element is used to modify its dimensions and surface currents for broadband operation. The results have been analyzed in the frequency band of 24 GHz to 28 GHz. Two different combinations of its dimensions are selected for the investigating of its various performance parameters. A maximum static phase range of 432° and 255° have been obtained with selected dimensions. The wide-band features of proposed unit cell element can be used particularly to design a broadband reflectarray antenna for future fast communication systems.

Abstract

This paper presents an antenna as a humidity sensor application to control and monitor the quality of humidity. A passive sensor tag with low cost solution is suggested where it implemented on a low-cost substrate, FR4.  A capacitive sensor that works from 0 to 1.5 GHz is implemented in the design. The capacitive sensor is designed based on a small antenna loaded with a Split ring resonator (SRR). To sense the humidity, the SRR resonator is coated with Kapton, placed on the top of the resonator. To validate the proposed method, a prototype was fabricated. The comparison between simulated and measured reflection coefficient is presented.

Abstract

Tarsius lariang (T. lariang) is an endemic species in Lore Lindu National Park (LLNP). Available information regarding T. lariang is limited to only morphological, anatomical, cytogenetic, and voices issues. Knowledge for its geospatial characteristics such as spatial preferences and spatial distribution is rare. The main objective of this study is to identify the spatial distribution pattern of T. lariang in LLNP. An additional objective is to identify the environmental factors affecting its spatial distribution patterns. Field observation for distribution pattern was done at the observation plot that were using systematic sampling with random start. Furthermore, the density estimation in each point was calculated using Triangle Count and Concentration Count method, while insect abundance was estimated using light traps sample data. Finally, spatial pattern was estimated using nearest neighbor index, while the environmental affecting factors were identified by using spatial analysis and correlation analyses. From 45 observation points, the T. lariang distribution pattern was clumped. It is also recognized that the significant factors affecting the spatial distribution were insect abundance, proximity from the commercially utilized land, and land surface temperature.

Abstract

In this paper, the analysis of comparison between proposed detection called as Wavelength Filtrate Detection with existing detection have been analyzed to determine the best system performance in term of power received and bit error rate (BER). The analysis focus on the geometrical effect of aperture receiver and beam divergence. The performance of Free Space Optics is validated through simulation analysis using parameter 10Gbps data rate and in 14dB/km atmospheric attenuation. This analysis shows that Wavelength Filtrate Detection increase the power received of 6dBm and improve the absolute value of error rate 10-9 in acceptable threshold required by (ITR-U) as much as 50% compare to others existing detection

Abstract

Emergence of telecommunication companies is springing up due to the high demand from the consumers. The invention of telecommunication has made the world more knowledgeable as information can be transmitted easily. Based on the past studies, telecommunication is not commonly investigated especially in financial management field. Thereore, this study aims to propose a conceptual framework to evaluate, compare and rank the financial performance of the listed telecommunication companies in Malaysia using TOPSIS model. Financial ratios are employed to examine the financial performance of the telecommunication companies. The data of this study consists of DIGI, MAXIS, AXIATA and TM which are listed telecommunication companies in Malaysia stock market. The results of this study show that DIGI achieves the first ranking, followed by MAXIS, AXIATA and TM within the study period of year 2011-2015. This study is significant because it helps to evaluate, compare and rank the financial performance of the listed telecommunication companies in Malaysia with the proposed conceptual framework based on TOPSIS model.
