This paper presents a characterization of geometrical shape on dielectrophoresis by determining and analysing the geometrical shape of electrodes. The structure or geometrical shape of dielectrophoresis electrode is design using COMSOL software to determine the maximum trapping efficiency of particles. The trapping efficiency of particles can be evaluated by analysing the best electrical gradient and investigated the behaviour of the particles if the existence of a non-uniform electric field. There are three geometrical shapes have been designed which is, peel chain shape, castle wall shape and comb shape. Each of the geometrical shapes have different magnetic field produce, hence each of the design have specific application. Furthermore, these three designed are analysed by varying the material of the electrode for the best trapping efficiency. From the various and previous study, for maximum trapping efficiency the shape used is peel chain shape which is suitable for biological and non-biological particles separation. But for the castle wall and comb shape is the most suitable for biological particles such as red blood cell and bacteria trapping. As for the result obtain, it is proven that peel chain shape could achieve maximum electrical gradient to trap biological or non-biological particles in the future.

Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) has recently been explored to develop a novel algorithm for distributed optimization and control. This paper proposes a Model Predictive Control (MPC) of Load Frequency Control (LFC) based ICA to enhance the damping of oscillations in a two-area power system. A two-area non-reheat thermal system is considered to be equipped with Model Predictive Control (MPC). ICA is utilized to search for optimal controller parameters by minimizing a time-domain based objective function. The performance of the proposed controller has been evaluated with the performance of the conventional PI controller, and PI controller tuned by ICA in order to demonstrate the superior efficiency of the proposed MPC tuned by ICA. Simulation results emphasis on the better performance of the optimized MPC based on ICA in compare to optimized PI controller based on ICA and conventional one over wide range of operating conditions, and system parameters variations.

High voltage circuit-breaker is an important equipment in electric system. The study on fault diagnosis of high voltage circuit-breaker would not only strengthens the security and stability of power system but also increases the economic benefit of it. Obtaining the diagnosis rules is the hardest part in building fault diagnosis expert system. This article analyses the fault samples data of high voltage circuit-breaker by rough set theory, and get diagnosis rules from it. The case shows the method is practical and feasible. The computational aspects of finding the shortest addition chains for an integer are investigated in this work. Theoretically developed lower and upper bounds for the minimal length of the addition chains for an integer are exploited to construct a subtle pruning function for backtracking algorithm. These techniques are finally combined to build an efficient algorithm for finding the optimal addition chains. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.2902

This paper investigates the impact of the high-K material gate spacer on short channel effects (SCEs) for the 16 nm double-gate FinFET (DG-FinFET), where depletion-layer widths of the source-drain corresponds to the channel length. Virtual fabrication process along with design modification throughout the study and its electrical characterization is implemented and significant improvement is shown towards the altered structure design whereby in terms of the ratio of drive current against the leakage current (ION/IOFF ratio), all three materials tested being S3N4, HfO2 and TiO2 increases from the respective 60.90, 80.70 and 84.77 to 84.77, 91.54 and 92.69. That being said, the incremental in ratio has satisfied the incremental on the drive current as well as decreases the leakage current. Threshold voltage (VTH) for all dielectric materials have also satisfy the minimum requirement predicted by the International Technology Roadmap Semiconductor (ITRS) 2013 for which is at 0.461±12.7% V. Based on the results obtained, the high-K materials have shown a significant improvement, specifically after the modifications towards the Source/Drain. Compared to the initial design made, TiO2 has improved by 12.94% after the alteration made in terms of the overall ION and IOFF performances through the ION/IOFF ratio value obtained, as well as meeting the required value for VTH obtained at 0.464V. The ION from high-K materials has proved to meet the minimum requirement by ITRS 2013 for low performance Multi-Gate technology.

Hypertension is a major symptom that cause other diseases appear such as non-communicable diseases, cancer, and diabetes if the nutrients on hypertensive patients not controlled from the actual nutrition need. One of healthy life effort for the patients is consuming healthy food that considers level of salt in the foods. The problem to determine the food composition that considers level of salt and minimum cost of the food is solved using Variable Neighborhood Search. This study compares 3 neighborhood structures: insertion, exchange, and 2-opt. The use of 2-opt neighborhood structure gives the highest fitness averages of other neighborhood structure. Selection and arrangement of neighborhood structure in every k neighborhood have effect on the solution is obtained. The result of this study contains composition of foods with nutrients which are close to the needs of hypertension patients with attentions the sodium and minimal cost within a day.

One of the most common approaches to address the partial face recognition challenge is to crop the full face image into segments. The problem is how the full face image must be cropped in a uniform way to generate informative segments. The un-blindly strategy was applied in this paper to generate informative segments, it depends on localizing the facial landmarks and selecting the more informative facial points as a key points, as more as the k-nearest neighbor concept was explored to select the k nearest landmark points to the key points. Two landmark localization techniques were experimented, the suitable technique resulted in segments which are overlapped due to the supervised clustering technique that explored in this paper to cover important biometric face regions, not repeated and covered most probabilities in which it is possible to distinguish the query face from the available part of it.

The natural frequency and scanning vibration frequency of C-dynamic scanning system of laser sensors are acquired for film thickness of lithium battery de-noising based on multi-resolution wavelet algorithm. For this reason, fast de-noising based on atomic sequence template library is present .First, under various mode of scanning, best atomic sequence template is built by sparse decomposition. Secondly, at the given mode, film thickness data is match to the best atomic sequence to de-nosing. Experimental results show that template-matching pursuit(MP) algorithm is effective and algorithm speed is higher than MP 57 times.

In the last decade, the number of mobile phone users has increased dramatically. Nowadays, mobile phone has become part of people’s life. Today’s mobile phones provide not just voice call and messaging services, but plethora of other services. This research is about the utilization of mobile phone for dua and zikr for Hajj. The main aim of this research is to develop a mobile Dua and Zikr application to help Hajj pilgrims to recite them while performing all the Hajj, Umrah and Ziarah rituals. At the moment, this research focuses on developing the application on Android platform. In developing the application, all the required Dua and Zikr have to be gathered, compiled and verified before the prototype could be developed using J2ME. The prototype consists of text and audio files of the recited Dua and Zikr in Arabic as well as the translations in Malay. The prototype has been proven to be useful in helping the pilgrims to easily and conveniently recite the Dua and Zikr towards achieving Hajj Mabrur. With the rapid growth of communications via the Internet, the need for an effective firewall system which has not badly affect the overall network performances has been increased. In this paper, a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) -based firewall system with high performance has been implemented using Network FPGA (NetFPGA) with Xilinx Kintex-7 XC7K325T FPGA. Based on NetFPGA reference router project, a NetFPGA-based firewall system was implemented. The hardware module performs rule matching operation using content addressable memory (CAM) for higher speed data processing. To evaluate system performance, throughput, latency, and memory utilization were measured for different cases using different tools, also the number of rules that an incoming packet is subjected to was varied to get more readings using both software and hardware features. The results showed that the designed firewall system provides better performance than traditional firewalls. System throughput was doubled times of the one with Linux-Iptables firewalls.
