Abstract

A cataract is a condition in which the crystalline lens of the eye becomes cloudy. One of the risk factors that make a person more susceptible to developing cataracts is frequent exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. Exposure to the sun's ultraviolet B (UVB) rays can accelerate the development of cataracts. A person who suffers from cataracts will complain of visual disturbances, such as decreased vision, foggy and smoky vision, double vision, glare when seeing, impaired colour vision, difficulty seeing when the light is dim or at night, and seeing halos around light. . Management of cataract patients, namely surgical removal of the lens and replacing it with an intraocular lens (IOL). Prevention that can be done to reduce the risk of cataracts is to avoid sun exposure in the hours of the highest exposure intensity, wear sunglasses with UV filters, wear contact lenses with UV filters, and wear hats with wide edges.

Abstract

On the empirical fact that Gampong Ara succeeded in reducing the stunting rate in badutanya, in 2017, there were 13 cases and decreased to 4 cases in 2019 and in 2020 there were no more. The purpose of the study was to determine the role of village midwives in reducing stunting rates in children under two years old (baduta) in Gampong Ara, Kembang Tanjong District, Pidie Regency. This research uses a qualitative type of research with a case study design. The sample informants were 6 people, namely the Midwife of Ara Village, the Village Head or Keuchik Gampong Ara, the Cadre of the Gampong Ara Posyandu, 2 beneficiary communities (1 person with a history of stunting children and 1 more person with the risk of stunting) plus the Head of the Kembang Tanjong Health Center. The research time was held in April 2022. The results showed that village midwives in Gampong Ara have carried out their role in reducing stunting rates, but there are several aspects that are still not met. The conclusion is that the village midwife has carried out her role as an executor, manager, educator and researcher in the stunting reduction program in Gampong Ara, but not all of them are like helping childbirth, because the village midwife does not live in place and holds 3 villages as her midwife. Advice to policymakers, can work on development for the residence of village midwives in Gampong Ara, so that village midwives can carry out their total roles such as helping childbirth and allocating other village midwives so that Gampong Ara village midwives no longer hold 3 villages as their midwives, so that they can focus more on carrying out their role as village midwives in Gampong Ara. The midwife of Gampong Ara village is expected to continue to increase her role as a midwife.

Abstract

Parenting of babies and young children is the key to improving the survival of the child and encouraging growth. The method of collecting data by distributing questionnaires to 30 mothers who have babies of 6-24 months, the analysis carried out is mapping behavior and knowledge related to complementary foods and their correlation to stunting. Purposive sampling carries out the sampling technique. Based on the chi-square test, there was a relationship between respondents' knowledge and the condition of the baby with a smaller p value of 0.05, namely (p = 0.026). Based on the chi-square test, there was a relationship between respondents' attitudes and the condition of the baby with a p value smaller than 0.05, namely (p = 0.019). Based on the chi-square test, there was a relationship between the respondent's actions and the condition of the baby with a p value smaller than 0.05, namely (p = 0.004). Complementary foods for babies are already given to babies from a very early age (under the month), so the amount of nutrients that the baby needs is not in accordance with the needs of the child.

Abstract

The practice of circumcision for girls has not been shown to be beneficial for health, but in Indonesia the practice of circumcision in girls still occurs mainly in some villages. Thus, this research is feasible and important to be carried out, with the aim of mapping the sociodemographic and maternal knowledge about the implementation of baby girl circumcision. The method of collecting data by distributing questionnaires to 80 mothers who performed circumcision on infant girls aged 0-11 years with purposive sampling. The data from the study were processed using validity, reliability tests and uni and multivariate tests to determine the correlation. This study shows that girls living in urban areas are more likely to be circumcised than children living in rural areas. Based on the results urban residents have better access to health services when compared to rural residents. This can be seen from the results of Riskesdas 2013 where health workers, while in rural areas only 40.6 percent circumcise 64.7 percent of women aged 0-11 years in urban areas. Thus, shamans or circumcisors (59.4%) circumcise most women in rural areas.

Abstract

Today, the world is being shaken by a great pandemic called Covid-19 (Corona Virus Disease). The increase from day to day in the number of patients infected with the Covid-19 virus is already difficult to control. A clear and straightforward plan is needed from the government to tackle this problem. Efforts to increase the body's resistance so as not to be easily attacked by viruses are also important. The immune system can be increased by consuming nutritious foods and sources of bioactive components that have immunostimulant activity. Natural ingredients that can be used to prevent Covid-19 are melons. The utilization of melon peel waste is currently still not optimal, this melon skin actually contains a lot of substances that are useful for health. Melon peel is rich in nutrients such as carbohydrates (69.77%) and ash (3.67%). They contain a large amount of total dietary fiber (41.69%) and antioxidants as polyphenols and flavonoids (332mg/100g extract and 95.46mg/100g extract, respectively). Identification and quantification of melon peel phenolic compounds. showed that hydroxybenzoic acid and flavones constituted their main phenolic class. 3-Hydroxybenzoic acid was the main phenolic compound in melon peel at 33.45mg/100g, followed by apigenin-7-glycoside (29.34mg/100g. This research was conducted by formulating melon peel extract in three concentration variations, namely FI (extract 10) %) FII (15% extract) and FIII (20% extract). The syrup preparation of melon peel extract obtained was then subjected to accelerated stability test. The phagocytosis test was carried out by calculating the phagocytic activity of macrophage cells. Data analysis using the Graphad Prism® application. The results obtained the watermelon rind extract syrup formula is stable after storage and can act as an immunostimulant.
