Abstract

Anemia is the biggest public health problem in the world, especially for the reproductive age group. The World Health Organization (WHO), which estimates that 40% of the causes of maternal death in developing countries are related to anemia due to iron deficiency infection. Based on the results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia in 2018 was 37.1%, at the Kuala Simpang City Health Center, namely pregnant women in 2018 as many as 338 people. This study aims to determine the relationship between chronic energy deficiency and adherence to consuming Fe tablets with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. The design of this study used an analytic type with a cross sectional design. This study uses primary data that is processed univariately. The data are presented in the form of frequency distribution tables, cross tables and narratives. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire which was developed based on the research variables. The number of samples in this study were 56 respondents using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. The results of this study showed that the majority did not experience anemia as many as 31 (55.4%) respondents. This study concludes that there is a relationship between chronic energy deficiency p-value 0.000 (p<0.05) and adherence to taking tablets with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05) with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. Pregnant women must apply a good diet during pregnancy so that nutrients and nutritional needs during pregnancy can be met and regularly consume Fe tablets.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination is a worldwide government policy program aimed at reducing its transmission, reducing the morbidity and death rate due to COVID-19, achieving herd immunity in the community (herd immunity) and protecting people from disease to remain socially and economically productive. The pros and cons color the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination program in various countries, including Indonesia. Vaccinations that are ongoing and are in the midst of the community are experiencing problems, there are still people who have not received the existence of the vaccine, including in Muara Sentosa Village, Sei Tualang Raso District, Tanjunbalai City, where the coverage of the COVID-19 booster vaccination is still very low. The purpose of the study is to find out the reasons for the refusal. This type of research is qualitative with in-depth interviews with informants consisting of the Lurah, Head of the Environment, Religious Leaders, Community Leaders, Vaccinator Officers, and residents. The results showed that the main cause of the phenomenon of rejection of COVID-19 booster vaccination in Muara Sentosa Village was the lack of public knowledge about the COVID-19 disease, COVID-19 vaccination and work constraints in terms of time and side effects of vaccines. For this reason, it is necessary to take action by the local government to advocate with relevant agencies to increase community knowledge and facilitate vaccine service time for the community according to their free time.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris (AV) is a disease of the pilosebaceous unit that often occurs at the age of 15 to 40 years. Various factors can influence this disease such as abnormal keratinization, microbial colonization, increased sebum production and complex inflammatory mechanisms. Essential oils can be used as an alternative therapy for AV. Various kinds of essential oils which are natural aromatic compounds from herbal plants, have long been known to help cure AV. This is because of the various beneficial compounds contained in each essential oils. The effects are varied such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial which will affect the healing mechanism of AV. This literature review discusses the role of essential oils from kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix), cinnamon (Cinnamomum), tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf. and Cymbopogon flexuosus), oregano (Origanum vulgare) and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) against AV treatment.

Abstract

Skin hydration has an important role in various diseases of the elderly. Skin hydration is determined by two factors, namely the ability of the stratum corneum (SC) to retain water due to natural moisturizing factors and the barrier function of the intercellular lipid lamellar structure and tight junctions. Several parameters are usually used for skin hydration, such as surface water content (SWC) and trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). With age, several changes in the skin affect hydration, including changes in the cellular and intercellular lipid matrix, skin pH, SC protease enzymes, decreased sebaceous and sweat gland activity, and decreased estrogen levels in women. Therefore, a moisturizer is needed to minimize the unwanted effects of some of these changes. Selection of the type of moisturizer is very important for the elderly, especially moisturizers with antiseptic, antibacterial, and antioxidant effects are highly recommended. The ability of essential oils as components of moisturizers has been proven in various studies. Essential oils can improve the function of the epidermal barrier and help prevent transepidermal water loss. Therefore, this literature review discusses the role of various essential oils, namely green tea oils (Camellia sinensis or Camellia assamica), virgin coconut oils (Cocos nucifera L.), evening primrose oils (Oenothera paradoxa), grape seed oils (Vitis vinifera L.) .), rosemary oils (Rosmarinus officinalis L.), immortelle oils (Helichrysum italicum), and cannabis seeds oils (Cannabis sativa L.) on improving skin hydration in the elderly.

Abstract

This type of research uses quantitative research, with a cross-sectional study approach, namely studying the dynamics of the relationship or correlation between risk factors and impacts, the approach used is observation at a certain time. The population of this study is mothers who have school children 6-12 years old in the village ofKing Maligas Iwith a population of about 80 people. Nutrition is one of the determinants of the quality of human resources. Malnutrition will cause failure of physical growth and intelligence development, reduce work productivity and reduce body resistance which results in increased morbidity and mortality (Directorate of Nutrition RI, 2004).There is a relationship between feeding patterns and the nutritional status of school-aged children 6-12 years in Raja Maligas I Village, Hutabayu Raja District, Simalungun Regency, which is 0.015. There is a relationship between the family environment and the nutritional status of school-aged children 6-12 years in Raja Maligas I Village, Hutabayu Raja District, Simalungun Regency, which is 0.001. There is a relationship between family education (mother) and the nutritional status of school-aged children 6-12 years in Raja Maligas I Village, Hutabayu Raja District, Simalungun Regency.that is 0.006.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is one of the infectious diseases that is a world health problem because approximately 1/3 of the world's population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB attacks the lungs, but it can also attack other organs of the body. The source of transmission is pulmonary TB patients with smear (+) which can infect other people. Through the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short-Course) strategy implemented by the Provincial Health Office on the TB Program at the Martoba Health Center, Pematangsiantar City, it was reported that, for 3 consecutive years (2014 - 2016). In 2014 there were 533 cases, in 2015 there was an increase of 535 cases and in 2016 it increased again to 574 cases. Researchers conducted a direct survey to see the conditions and conducted brief interviews with 2 (two) people with TB. The results of interviews and surveys found that there were several factors related to the incidence of TB based on nutritional status, smoking habits and household contacts at the Martoba Public Health Center, Pematangsiantar City in 2019. There was a significant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of pulmonary TB disease. Based on the Chi-Square test at a significant level of 0.05, p = 0.000 was obtained. There is a significant relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of pulmonary TB disease. Based on the Chi-Square test at a significant level of 0.005, p = 0.000 was obtained. There is a significant relationship between a history of household contact with the incidence of pulmonary TB disease. Based on the Chi-Square test at a significant level of 0.05, p = 0.021 means that there is a significant relationship between a history of household contact with the incidence of pulmonary TB disease.
