Abstract

This study aims to uncover the dynamics of discourse on "career women" on Instagram using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach by Norman Fairclough. This approach consists of three dimensions of analysis: text (linguistic content), discursive practice (the process of text production and consumption), and social practice (broader social context). The findings reveal that the representation of career women on Instagram is complex, reflecting contradictions between narratives of women's empowerment and the pressures of traditional gender norms. Dominant narratives often portray career women as ideal multitaskers, but implicitly reinforce stereotypes about domestic responsibilities. This study concludes that social media discourse plays a significant role in shaping public perceptions of career women and highlights the need to construct more inclusive and unbiased narratives. Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the IAIN Pontianak futsal community in public relations in using Instagram social media in promoting IAIN Pontianak in non-academic fields. This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques use interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the IAIN Pontianak futsal community utilizes Instagram in promoting IAIN Pontianak's non-academic activities. Through social media at least inform the public that IAIN Pontianak has sports facilities such as futsal fields, holds futsal tournaments for children, schools, and the general public. There are three roles of the futsal community for IAIN Pontianak, namely, early age development in collaboration with the fafage academy Indonesia, holding futsal tournaments and participating in local, regional and national futsal tournaments, and building cooperation with sponsor partners. This study has limitations in qualitative research methods and a limited number of informants. Thus, further research can conduct a survey of the role of the futsal community on lecturers and students of IAIN Pontianak with quantitative research

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Communication Science and Legal Science as two main pillars in improving public legal literacy. The research was conducted at the Legal Aid Institute of the Ansor Youth Movement (LBH GP Ansor) in Wajo Regency using an empirical legal approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and questionnaires distributed to 15 recipients of legal aid services. The results show that an interdisciplinary approach combining Communication and Law is effective in delivering legal information. Legal messages that are conveyed in a humanistic, contextual, and participatory manner can enhance public understanding of their rights and obligations. Although 60% of respondents had attended legal outreach and 73% accessed information via social media, only 40% understood basic legal procedures. These findings indicate that access to information does not automatically equate to legal comprehension, emphasizing the need for targeted communication strategies to build sustainable legal awareness.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the meaning and use of the use of the close friends feature on the second Instagram account of Nusa Cendana University Communication Science students and to see the display of self-disclosure carried out through the close friends second account feature and also to describe how messages are managed on the front stage and back stage in the close friends second account Instagram feature of Nusa Cendana University Communication Science students on the first and second Instagram accounts. This type of research is a type of qualitative descriptive research where the researcher carries out observations, interviews and documentation with several informants. The theory used is Erving Goffman's Dramaturgical Theory. The results of this research show that Nusa Cendana University Communication Science students interpret and utilize, display self-disclosure and manage messages using the close friends second account feature on Instagram because they want to separate their formal personal life from their daily activities which are more flexible, they want to brand themselves well on their first account while being more self-disclosure or open self-disclosure on the close friends second account feature on Instagram by separating only trusted people who can see their Instagram stories. With that, posting random things, private things, togetherness with family and friends, romantic relationships and their work is included in the back stage of Dramaturgical theory, while posting formal things such as birthday greetings, aesthetic photos of oneself is included in the front stage of Dramaturgical theory.

Abstract

Visual communication and innovation have become important factors in the success of photography businesses in the digital era, especially through Instagram. This study aims to (1.) Identify the visual communication of the Fotocall Studio team in attracting audience attention through the Instagram account @Fotocall.Studio, (2.) Identify the innovations carried out by the Fotocall Studio team in attracting public attention through the Instagram account @Fotocall.Studio. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the Diffusion of Innovations theory, supported by method visual content analysis and service innovation. The results show that Fotocall Studio’s visual communication is realized through simple and easy-to-read typography, high-quality photography with a natural atmosphere, the use of dominant colors such as white, black, and pastel, layouts with clear information hierarchy, as well as consistent logo usage. The main innovation in the form of a self-photo photobooth service can be understood through Rogers’ five stages: knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation, which have been proven to increase audience engagement, the number of bookings, and client satisfaction.
