Abstract

Bank Muamalat has significantly decreased managerial profitability in the last six years compared to other Sharia Commercial Banks. Bank Muamalat of Indonesia experienced a decline in profitability that has no growth and continues to be restructured. Meanwhile, profitability is one of the benchmarks for the success of Sharia banking in managing its financial performance. The present study aims to analyze the simultaneous and partial effect of variables NPF, BOPO, CAR, FDR, and TPF on the ROA of Bank Muamalat of Indonesia. This study implements a quantitative method using quarterly data from Bank Mumalat of Indonesia for the period 2012-2021. The technique used to analyze the data were the multicollinearity test, multiple regression analysis tests, and classical assumption test. The results of this study indicate that there is a simultaneous influence between the variables NPF, BOPO, CAR, FDR, and TPF to ROA. NPF shows a positive and significant value to Bank Muamalat's ROA. BOPO has a negative and significant effect on the ROA of Bank Muamalat. Furthermore, CAR has a positive and significant effect on Bank Muamalat's ROA. FDR has a positive and significant effect on ROA. FDR in this study has the greatest influence over other variables with a t-count value of 3.922, which is smaller than t-table 2.030. While TPF in this study has no significant effect on the ROA of Bank Muamalat.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze bureaucracy and public administration with an approach to Islamic values about norms, ethics, and marsalah mursalah as the spirit of the law. Islam still pays attention to the reality of society, thus giving birth to a humanist and authoritative formulation of Islamic law instead of authoritarianism of Islamic law. The method used for this study is a literature study. This study can be integrated with Maqhasid Syariah, namely by exploring philosophical values (the theory values), norms, and ethics related to bureaucracy and public administration in Islamic law. A number of theories recognize that Islamic values also influence public administration, such as performance, ethics, and accountability. The conversion of Islamic principles and following the secular path will result in the failure of Muslim societies and social renewal, requiring a return to Islam. In conclusion, the legitimate form of bureaucracy and public administration in the Islamic world is not only academic interests but also political interests on a global scale.

Abstract

The structural equation modelling (SEM) method has stronger predicting power than path analysis and multiple regression because SEM is able to analyze at the deepest level the variables or constructs studied. This literature review aimed to describe the use of structural equation modelling in research. In general, SEM can be used to analyze research models that have several independent (exogenous) and dependent (endogenous) variables, as well as moderating or intervening variables. SEM provides several benefits and advantages for researchers, including building research models with many variables, examining variables or constructs that cannot be observed or cannot be measured directly (unobserved), testing measurement errors (measurement errors) for observed variables or constructs ( observed) and confirmatory factor analysis. Broadly speaking, SEM methods can be classified into two types, namely covariance-based structural equation modelling (CB-SEM) and variance or component-based SEM (VB-SEM), which includes partial least squares (PLS) and generalized structured component analysis (GSCA). This literature review aimed to describe the use of structural equation modelling in research.

Abstract

The relationship between variables in structural equation modeling (SEM) forms a structural model. This structural model can be explained through structural equations, such as in regression analysis. This structural equation describes the prediction of the latent (exogenous) independent variable on the latent (endogenous) dependent variable. Researchers who use analysis with structural equation models need to know whether the model built with empirical data has a unique value or not so that the model can be estimated. If the model does not have a unique value, then the model cannot be identified (unidentified). The cause of a model is categorized as unidentified because the information contained in empirical data is not sufficient to produce a unique solution in calculating model estimation parameters. This literature review aims to describe the process of data analysis using SEM.

Abstract

The use of crown witness evidence can only be seen in criminal cases in the form of participation, and separation of those criminal cases has been carried out since the preliminary examination process at the investigative level. Some parties argue that the use of crown witnesses is permissible because it aims to achieve a sense of public justice. However, some are of the opinion that the use of crown witnesses is not permissible because it is contrary to the basic rights and sense of justice of the accused. This is because the crown witness has the status of a defendant and has the right to remain silent or even the right to give answers that are denied or lie. This review aims to describe the use of crown witnesses and the power of crown witness statements in corruption trials in Indonesia.

Abstract

This review aimed to discuss legal reviews related to physician malpractice in medical practice. Malpractice is carrying out a profession wrongly or wrongly, which can only form legal responsibility for the maker if it results in a loss determined or regulated by law. Malpractice can occur in carrying out all kinds of professions, including the medical profession. Mistakes in carrying out the medical profession will form criminal or civil legal liability (depending on the nature of the consequences of the losses incurred) containing three main aspects as an inseparable unit, namely treatment that is not according to the norm, done with culpa and causing losses in law. Regarding the doctor not providing services in accordance with professional standards, which then results in disability or death of the patient, this doctor has violated the patient's right to obtain such humane service, so the patient has the right to sue the doctor concerned.

Abstract

The gross domestic product of countries plays a key role in the development and wealth of nations. There are several components of the gross domestic product, such as industrial revenue, revenue from services, and tourism revenue. Türkiye is located in Anatolia, which is very rich from a historical viewpoint. Therefore, Türkiye attracts tourists from all over the world, making its tourism revenue an important contributor to its gross domestic product. This study aimed to model the tourism revenue of Türkiye using machine learning methods. In this study, the tourism revenue of Türkiye, dependent on the number of tourists, oil prices, and the exchange rate, are modelled for the period of 2008-2022. The data of these variables were taken from official sources, and then the causality analyses were carried out. As the next step, the tourism revenue is modelled as a function of the number of tourists, oil prices, and the exchange rate. A deep learning network is developed using the Python programming language for modelling the tourism revenue. The developed deep learning network is then trained using a portion of the data. The performance of the developed deep learning network is then evaluated using the performance metrics such as the coefficient of determination, mean absolute error, root means square error, and the mean absolute percentage error. These metrics show that the developed deep learning network successfully models the tourism revenue dependent on the number of tourists, oil prices, and the exchange rate.

Abstract

Economic development in an area requires encouragement between the local government and the community to grow regional economic activities by managing existing resources, establishing relationships between government and private agencies, and encouraging development related to regional economic activities. The development of a region cannot be separated from national development because regional governments and local communities need coordination to utilize, create, develop, and produce existing resources. This study aimed to describe the potential of the economic sector in Surabaya in the period of 2015-2019. This research uses secondary data for five years in the 2015-2019 period. The analytical method used analyzes location quotient, shift share, and Klassen typology. The results of the study revealed that five sectors were included in quadrant I, and two sectors were included in quadrant IV. In conclusion, Surabaya has fifteen economic sectors that drive economic progress, ten sectors grow relatively fast, nine industries have outstanding location advantages, and five sectors belong to quadrant I. This research is used as a reference in making policies related to economic progress in Surabaya, which impacts increasing employment and per capita income.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is breastfeeding only, without additional fluids and other foods for the first 6 months. Economic, cultural, and sociodemographic factors are thought to influence mothers to keep working even though their babies still need exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to describe cultural and sociodemographic factors related to exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Pegasing Health Center, Central Aceh. This research is an observational study. A total of 73 mothers participated in this study. The inclusion criteria are mothers who have children aged 0-5 years, domicile in the Pegasing Health Center work area, and are willing to participate in this study. Sociodemographic data and the level of knowledge of mothers regarding exclusive breastfeeding were measured using a structured interview and questionnaire. Cultural aspects related to exclusive breastfeeding were explored through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. The majority of participants had senior high school education (57.5%), family income was below the Central Aceh regional minimum wage (95.89%), and mothers' knowledge regarding exclusive breastfeeding was considered good (50.7%). Meanwhile, mothers considered that family support in breastfeeding was good (50.7%). However, support from health workers was considered to be lacking regarding exclusive breastfeeding (38.4%). Based on the results of the interviews, there are habits making up and myths about dena which inhibit exclusive breastfeeding in infants in the Gayo area. In conclusion, family income and cultural factors have a role in exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Pegasing Health Center, Central Aceh.
