Abstract

This study aims to predict a student’s graduation on time (GOT) using machine learning algorithms. We applied five different machine learning algorithms, namely Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (Linear Kernel), Support Vector Machine (Polynomial Kernel), K-Nearest Neighbors, and Naïve Bayes. These algorithms were tested using 10-fold cross validation and simulated various parameter tuning values. The results show that the Random Forest algorithm produces the best accuracy and kappa statistics values, so this algorithm is suitable for modeling predictive data of students graduating on time. This predictive model is expected to be useful for higher education management in designing their strategies to assist and improve student academic performance weaknesses in order to achieve graduation on time.

Abstract

The proliferation of online learning platforms has made it increasingly difficult for students to choose a platform that best meets their needs. This study aims to prioritize online learning platforms based on student needs using the Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The criteria used in the analysis were ease of use, variety of courses, cost, and reputation of instructors. The results of the analysis indicate that edX is the most suitable online learning platform for students based on the criteria and weights used in the study. Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning were also evaluated in the analysis and may be suitable for students with specific priorities or preferences. The MCDA TOPSIS method provides a transparent and objective approach to evaluating the alternatives and offers insights into the strengths and weaknesses of each platform. The results of this study can help students make more informed decisions and choose a platform that best meets their individual needs. However, the choice of criteria and weights may vary depending on the preferences and priorities of different students, and the results should be interpreted accordingly

Abstract

Breast cancer is the type of cancer with the most and the highest cases causing mortality in Indonesia, so an effective treatment is required to reduce the incidence and mortality rate due to cancer breasts. Most breast cancer patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage so the treatment used are limited and the risk of death becomes higher. Along with the development of human genome sequencing technology, the genetic examination of breast cancer is considered as an examination that can be used for early prevention and treatment management personally. Based on the target variants detected, the genetic examination of breast cancer can be divided into two, namely the examination of germline variants and somatic variants. Germline variant examination is intended to predict the risk of breast cancer which can be used as an early preventive measure, while somatic variant examination is intended for cancer diagnosis and management therapy. NGS technology is able to detect both types of variants in a number of genes associated with breast cancer in several samples effectively and quickly. However, the data generated from NGS technology is very large and complex, so the role of bioinformatics is required in analyzing and interpreting data. By utilizing bioinformatics pipelines and tools, analysis of germline variants and somatic variants in breast cancer can be carried out accurately so that the results of genetic examinations can be used as a step to treat breast cancer.

Abstract

The concept of E-Learning itself is a guide between learning processes that are packaged in the form of information technology. During the pandemic, schools in Indonesia began to make changes to offline learning to online by utilizing various applications such as the Google Classroom and WhatsApp applications. Based on these conditions, the researcher tried to develop a system for use in schools in the form of Android-based e-learning using the waterfall method. Based on the results of system design and testing it appears that this system can be used at research locations because the system can run well based on the results of black box testing, while the expert judgment of 10 people said it was very good, while the user response was 150 people with a very good response of 70 percent (105 people), good 30 percent (45 people). So that by using an Android-based E-Learning application, of course learning done in schools is better than those that only use conventional models or only use Whatsapp or Google Classroom. In addition, with E-Learning the learning process that is usually carried out in schools can be done without having to go to school again, students and teachers can carry out the learning process from their respective homes using smartphones and the internet.

Abstract

This study uses the Weighted Sum Model to analyze location possibilities for a new manufacturing plant based on six variables, including transportation cost, labor cost, taxes, utilities cost, closeness to suppliers, and proximity to customers. The data was collected and normalized using the min-max method, and weight values were assigned to each criterion based on their relative importance. The Weighted Sum Model formula was then used to determine the weighted sum for each alternative location, and City B was identified as the best location for the new manufacturing plant, followed by City A and lastly City C. The Weighted Sum Model provides an objective and systematic approach to evaluating location alternatives, allowing decision-makers to weigh the importance of each criterion and consider multiple factors in making informed decisions. The strategy is versatile and can be modified to numerous decision-making scenarios, making it a helpful tool for firms wishing to make location decisions based on data-driven approaches. In conclusion, the Weighted Sum Model is a useful tool for analyzing location possibilities for a new manufacturing plant and can help firms make informed and data-driven decisions regarding the optimum location for their operations

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company engaged in Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK) with the brand "Santri" and has been operating since 1997. The raw materials used come from the Umbulan spring located in Mulyorejo hamlet, Pasuruan regency, East Java which is famous for its clarity. The results of the interview with the company, PT XYZ currently has not implemented quality control methods. Currently the quality of AMDK products PT XYZ has not been maximized, this is shown by the number of defective products that are greater than the established standards. Products with a packaging size of 240 ml are products with the highest percentage of defects. To overcome this problem, the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) approach is used in Six Sigma which is able to reduce defects and also with the FMEA method. Calculation with the Six Sigma method, there has been an increase in Sigma Level after improvement. Meanwhile, analysis using the FMEA method found that the RPN value decreased after the recommendations were implemented. This can be seen from the RPN value at the control stage is smaller than the RPN at the Analyze stage, thus showing the success of the corrective actions that have been taken.

Abstract

This study aims to present appropriate selection methods for evaluation, analysis, and comparison between different ballast water treatment technology systems in order to make good decisions in selecting the most optimal treatment system. This research designed a ballast water filter device on the John Lie training ship to prevent marine pollution due to species movement through the ballast water transfer process by referring to the D2 standard of the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention. During the ballasting process, ballast water contains thousands of species of marine animals and plants that are carried in ballast tanks, causing problems for the marine environment and human health. The modification of the filtration tool designed by the researcher used a 0,1 mm and 0,01 mm net tied to the ballast tank inlet pipe using a clamp on the ballast pipe of the John Lie training ship. This can fully be used during the process of filling ballast water from port seawater to enter the ballast tank through this filtration system. The results shown after passing the filter with a total plate count of 36 microorganisms indicate that the filtration system designed by the researcher can meet the D2 standard of the IMO BWM Convention Regulation.
