Abstract

This article highlights the urgency of enhancing mathematics learning independence as a pillar of character education at the junior high school level. Focusing on students' lack of learning independence, the article explains the relevance of a positive attitude towards independent learning in the context of mathematical literacy. The article provides study findings that address influences on children's learning independence and achievement, including peer environment, learning motivation, family social interaction and school tactics, through a literature review. The findings demonstrate the important impact of learning independence in improving academic achievement. Improving learning independence can be done through the application of contextual learning models, social environment and parental support. This study offers several solutions, including the creation of creative learning models, evaluation of curriculum implementation that emphasizes learning independence, and interventions that focus on the causes of low independence. Future research is expected to make a real contribution in advancing mathematics learning independence at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The success of nurturing a high-quality generation within a nation transcends mere academic achievements. The educational journey is envisioned as a crucial avenue for cultivating individuals with robust moral values applicable to their daily lives. Within the educational framework, mathematics holds a pivotal role in shaping students' character. To effectively in still character-building values, educators must craft well-designed learning experiences in mathematics. It is envisaged that through mathematical learning, students develop virtues such as diligence, critical thinking, and creativity. Mathematics, characterized by deductive reasoning, inherently fosters creative thinking among students. In daily life, the cognitive process of problem-solving underscores the significance of creative thinking, which involves synthesizing various patterns and approaches. Creative thinking finds practical application in tackling mathematical challenges, leading to the emergence of innovative solutions. Hence, by engaging in mathematics education, students are poised to embrace a character marked by ingenuity and inventive problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Abstract This study was conducted with the aim to determine the numeracy literacy skills of students based on gender and map the numeracy literacy skills of each indicator based on gender. This research uses Mixed Methods. The instrument used to collect data was the numeracy literacy test. The results showed that students' numeracy literacy indicators in applying various numbers and symbols related to mathematical principles in finding solutions to each problem (N1) amounted to 83% with a very good category, students' ability to present information, such as using tables, charts, diagrams, and others (N2) amounted to 65.50% with a good category and students' ability to interpret the results of analysis to predict and take action amounted to 61.33% with a good category. As for students' numeracy literacy skills based on gender and numeracy literacy skills for each indicator based on gender, the results show that there is no difference in numeracy literacy skills between female students and male students. Keywords : Numeracy literacy, Gender Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa berdasarkan gender dan memetakan kemampuan literasi numerasi setiap indikator berdasarkan gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan Mixed Methods. Instrument yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes kemampuan literasi numerasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indikator literasi numerasi siswa dalam menerapkan berbagai bilangan serta lambang yang berkaitan dengan asas – asas matematika dalam menemukan solusi dari setiap permasalahan (N1) sebesar 83% dengan kategori sangat baik, kemampuan siswa dalam menyajikan informasi, seperti menggunakan tabel, bagan, diagram, dan lainnya (N2) sebesar 65,50% dengan kategori baik dan kemampuan siswa dalam menginterpretasikan hasil analisis guna meramalkan dan mengambil tindakan sebesar 61,33% dengan kategori baik. Sedangkan untuk kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa berdasarkan gender dan kemampuan literasi numerasi untuk setiap indikator berdasarkan gender diperoleh hasil bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan literasi numerasi antara siswa perempuan dan siswa laki – laki. Abstract

Keterampilan komunikasi menggunakan matematika merupakan suatu hal penting dalam proses belajar matematika. Keterampilan ini memungkinkan para murid untuk menyampaikan konsep matematisnya dengan cara penyampaian langsung melalui mulut, tulisan, dan visual. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan siswa kelas 3 SD untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang berkaitan dengan materi keliling bangun datar persegi dan persegi panjang. Data dikumpulkan melalui dua metode: tes tertulis yang dilakukan terhadap sepuluh siswa di kelas 3 SD dan wawancara individual yang dilakukan terhadap lima siswa. Tes tertulis bertujuan untuk mengukur kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah keliling bangun datar, sedangkan wawancara menentukan bagaimana siswa memahami konsep keliling dan bagaimana mereka mengkomunikasikannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa dapat dengan mudah mengidentifikasi dan menghitung keliling persegi panjang dan persegi. Namun, beberapa siswa kesulitan menyampaikan proses pemecahan masalah secara tertulis. Penelitian ini memberikan manfaat besar bagi guru dalam mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa untuk berkomunikasi secara matematis, terutama dalam hal pemecahan masalah matematika

Abstract

This research aims to examine and determine the improvement in problem-solving abilities with the implementation of the PBL learning model assisted by LKPD. This study was conducted at SMP Deli Murni Sukamaju in Class VIII, with sample VIII-1 as the control class and VIII-2 as the experimental class. The type of research used is quasi-experimental research. The instrument used for data collection consists of 7 pre-test questions and 7 post-test questions on problem-solving abilities in the topic of number patterns. Based on the results of the research hypothesis using a two-way ANOVA with N-Gain data, the significant value is > =0.05, so H0 is rejected both overall and based on the students' Initial Mathematical Ability. This means that the improvement in students' problem-solving abilities using the PBL model assisted by LKPD is better overall and based on the students' Initial Mathematical Ability (KAM) than students using the Conventional model. The absence of interaction between learning and KAM, as seen in the significant value of the KAM*Class row with a result of >=0.05, means that the improvement in problem-solving ability occurs entirely due to learning. Continued with the Scheffe test, which showed that the group with low KAM significantly had better improvement compared to the students in the medium and high KAM groups.

Abstract

In this study, researchers will find out the obstacles faced by students when working on trigonometric identity problems based on Watson criteria. The method in research is qualitative description through several conditions, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Based on the results of the study, it was found that among the 8 types of Watson error criteria, students made the most errors on several criteria, namely incorrect data, improper procedures, missing data and missing conclusions. This error can occur because students are lacking in mastering the concept of trigonometric identity material, so students often make mistakes from entering data that has been known to the problem, students are unable to apply formulas in solving problems, also students cannot solve the problem until the end. The factors causing the error of class XI students of Tamalabang State Science in solving trigonometric identity problems are students who do not master the basic concepts of trigonometric identity and students do not want to learn to understand the basic concepts of trigonometric identity because students find it difficult to understand, causing students to often make mistakes.

Abstract

Population growth is an essential factor in community development in an area. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) state that a country can achieve economic development and a significant demographic bonus by considering the rate of population growth. This study aims to analyze the results of projections related to the impact of population growth in the province of North Sumatra from 2020-2035 using geometric and exponential analysis approaches. This study uses geometric and exponential analysis, which has a good significance level and does not have a significant difference bias compared to other investigations. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive case study type. The data used is secondary data originating from the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra Province and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The data is analyzed using a geometric and exponential approach from 2021-2035. The results showed that the population growth rate of North Sumatra from 2020-2035 using both geometric and exponential analysis did not have a significant difference and had an increase. This study also found that the impact of population growth in North Sumatra has the potential for a sizeable demographic bonus by taking into account population density to equitable distribution of education. This study provides recommendations to policymakers to make policy improvements related to the rate of population growth in dealing with the ageing population and maximizing the demographic bonus obtained in 2035.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the importance of connecting the past with mathematical concepts through a historical approach in education. In the context of mathematics education, a historical approach can help students understand the development of mathematical concepts and their relevance to everyday life. By presenting the history behind mathematical discoveries, students can see the connections between theory and practice, enhancing their interest and motivation to learn. This research uses a qualitative method with data analysis from various national sources, including previous studies and educational curricula. The findings are expected to provide new insights for educators in implementing a historical approach in mathematics learning, along with recommendations for developing a more contextual curriculum.

Abstract

Salah satu kapasitas kemampuan kognitif yang perlu ditingkatkan adalah kemampuan representasi matematis. Dengan memperhatikan kecepatan belajar peserta didik yang berbeda dan minat yang beragam pentingnya pembelajaran diferensiasi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif tersebut perlu dilakukan. Selain itu, kolaborasi dengan model permainan dalam TGT menjadikan pembelajaran semakin menyenangkan bagi peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran TGT terintegrasi pembelajaran diferensiasi terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis. Subjek penelitian merupakan siswa X PPLG 3 SMK N 8 Semarang sejumlah 36 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian jenis eksperimen kuasi tipe One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang dilakukan, uji wilcoxon yang menunjukan nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) < 0,001 yang mana kurang dari 0,05. Dengan demikian, antara pretest dan posttest peserta didik menunjukkan adanya signifikansi. Peningkatan ini dipengaruhi oleh keterlibatan peserta didik, lingkungan belajar yang aman dan nyaman, serta umpan balik sesuai dengan keahlian peserta didik.

Abstract

Pengembangan LKPD matematika berbasis peralatan dapur Batak Toba dalam pembelajaran transformasi geometri bertujuan untuk mengintegrasikan nilai budaya lokal dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan LKPD berbantuan Canva bagi siswa SMK, khususnya dalam meningkatkan minat belajar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), yang dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas XI Tata Boga di SMK Negeri 8 Medan. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi angket validasi ahli, angket siswa, dan lembar observasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKPD yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid oleh para ahli, praktis digunakan oleh guru dan siswa, serta efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep transformasi geometri. Selain itu, LKPD ini juga terbukti mampu meningkatkan minat belajar siswa karena mengaitkan materi matematika dengan budaya yang dekat dengan kehidupan mereka sehari-hari. Dengan demikian, penggunaan peralatan dapur Batak Toba sebagai konteks dalam LKPD berbasis Canva memberikan pendekatan pembelajaran yang kontekstual, menarik, dan bermakna bagi peserta didik di tingkat SMK.
