Abstract

The measure of the center is an essential topic in statistics. Pre-service mathematics teachers must have the ability to select and use measures of center. The inability to use and select appropriate center measures indicates a low understanding of center measures. Meanwhile, research on the ability to use and select the center's appropriate measures is very limited. This study explores the sources of error for pre-service mathematics teachers in using and selecting the appropriate measures of center. This study involved 177 pre-service mathematics teachers. This research is a qualitative study using the interpretive paradigm. Data were collected using a test containing two problems and clinical interviews. Data were analyzed qualitatively using grouping participant responses based on ways of thinking and ways of understanding to use and select center measures. The results showed that pre-service mathematics teachers could not select an appropriate measure of centers because they were too focused on measures of centers while ignoring the variance. In order to be able to select an appropriate measure of centers because variance must be considered simultaneously. The implication of this study results is the need for a learning approach that introduces concurrent measures of centers with data variance.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know there was any difference in student’s mathematical communication ability in cooperative learning Think TalkWrite (TTW) type and Numbered Head Together (NHT) type. The population was all students at SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. The sample was two classes which each consist of 36 students, VII A as experimental class I which taught by TTW and VII B as experimental class II which taught by NHT. The sample was taken by cluster random sampling. Collecting data technique of this research was mathematical comunication ability essay test that was given in the end of learning either in experimental class I or experimental class II. From the data analysis of each of experimental class were obtained that the average of posttest score in TTW classroom was higher than in NHT classroom. It was also obtained that score of mathematical communication indicators in TTW classroom was higher than in NHT classroom. From the data analysis of posttest score by using t-test with significance level α = 0.05, it was obtained that tcount = 4.687 and ttable = 1.667. It means that tcount > ttable then H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. So, it can be concluded that there was difference of student’s mathematical communication ability who taught by cooperative learning model type TTW with NHT at SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe the process of establishing students teachers' understanding about interactions in learning, describing those various understandings obtained as results of the field ecperience (PPL 1), how tasks and stages are designed according to the blue print of PPL1 to create holistic learning for prospective students of mathematics education teachers. The research method was descriptive qualitative by analyzing in depth the results of written interviews of students, through their reflections, and student observation sheets consisting of 30 students of mathematics education disseminated in several Christian schools. The data was validated with triangulation techniques, namely interviews, student reflections and student portfolios. In PPL 1, students observe and collaborate with mentor teachers and are directly involved in one-week learning activities. Through the journal of reflection students also help students to develop their understanding of the responsibility of the teacher and give direction for students can take steps to improve in the future if later become a teacher in the school. Students gained new understanding of interaction in the classroom, i.e. students understand the important of teachers to greet students before starting learning, the use positive words, recognize student names, show students' involvement in learning. Teacher students got good example and were prepared to be teachers who can build students' personal through interactions formed by teachers in the classroom. In addition, students also understood the steps to build good interaction with students. The implementation of PPL-1 is monitored in a structured manner, students were placed in a school environment that maximizes them to learn the correct practices and values of Christian education from teachers, principals, school environments and lecturers.

Abstract

A teacher's personality competence plays an important role in achieving educational goals. Personality is formed through every experience a teacher has. These experiences then govern a teacher's perspectives and thoughts and are reflected in behavior that shapes personality. Therefore, it is important for teacher candidates to do field experiences or observations in schools. This study will look at how the character of teacher candidates, such as caring, responsibility, and sensitivity to the needs of students, is enhanced during field experiences. The particpants of this study were 30 teacher candidates from several schools around Jakarta. Data taken from portfolios, reflection sheets, and mentors' observation sheets about the teacher candidates were analyzed in-depth. The reflections sheet included students’ explanations about 1) teacher management regarding student behavior and classroom environment, 2) teacher teaching strategies and instructional media, 3) teacher interaction in learning and communication skills, and 4) teacher assessment. The teacher candidates’ perspective after the field experience ended included 1) making a commitment to build communication and relationships with students as a form of a caring attitude, 2) making a commitment to share responsibility related to the assessment process, and 3) realizing that teachers need to be sensitive to diverse students during the learning process.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Kompetensi kepribadian guru berperan penting dalam tercapainya tujuan pendidikan. Kepribadian ini terbentuk dari setiap pengalaman yang didapat oleh seseorang. Pengalaman ini akan mengatur cara pandang dan pikir seseorang dan dicerminkan dalam bentuk tingkah laku dan terakumulasi menjadi sebuah kepribadian. Oleh karena itu penting bagi MCG melakukan Program Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) di sekolah. Penelitian ini akan melihat bagaimana karakter MCG, ditinjau dari perspektif mereka, seperti kepedulian, kesediaan berbagi tanggung jawab, dan kepekaan akan kebutuhan siswa selama melakukan PPL. Data diambil dari refleksi mahasiswa yang dianalisis secara mendalam mengenai 1) manajemen guru mengenai perilaku siswa dan lingkungan kelas, 2) strategi mengajar guru dan media pembelajaran yang digunakan, interaksi guru dalam pembelajaran dan keterampilan berkomunikasi, dan 3) penilaian yang dilakukan guru dan didukung oleh observasi guru mentor terhadap MCG. Pertumbuhan karakter MCG setelah pelaksanaan PPL: perspektif yang ditimbulkan oleh MCG setelah pelaksanaan PPL: 1) memiliki komitmen untuk membangun komunikasi yang clear dengan siswa sebagai wujud sikap peduli seorang guru, 2) memiliki komitmen untuk berbagi tanggung jawab. MCG menjurus pada tanggung jawab guru dalam melaksanakan peniliaian pada siswa. MCG melihat bahwa instrument untuk proses penilaian harus dipersiapkan dengan baik oleh guru dan siswa mempersiapkan diri dalam proses tersebut sebagai bentuk tanggung jawab mereka setelah menerima materi, dan 3) menyadari bahwa dibutuhkan perilaku guru dalam kepekaan tentang kebutuhan siswa yang beragam. MCG memusatkan pada perilaku memberikan kontribusi selama proses pembelajaran untuk menolong siswa dalam memenuhi kebutuhan belajarnya.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the ability of students in solving the national assessment problem model. The study belonged to qualitative approach. The research was conducted at SMPK Putra St. Xavier Kefamenanu. The data conducted from test results of national assessment collection problems and selected-participants interviews. The collected data then identified based on the following stages: data reduction, data presentation, conclusion and verification. The results of data analysis showed that the level of students' ability in completing the national assessment model problems in the percentage is the low-level ability category of 30%, at the medium level by 60% and the high level by 10%. The findings of this study: students with high math ability master all components of MCA in terms of content, cognitive processes, and context; students with moderate math abilities are able to master reading literacy content but are weak in numeracy literacy; students with low math abilities are very weak in content, cognitive processes, and context. In terms of cognitive processes, students with moderate mathematical ability can find and interpret text content but fail to integrate and evaluate text content into mathematical concepts and procedures and the context of the questions that can be worked on are personal and scientific. In cognitive process, students with low mathematical abilities can find information but are unable to interpret it to evaluate the content of the text into a mathematical concept and procedure.

Abstract

AbstrakSalah satu metode pencarian solusi SPL yang dipelajari di pendidikan tinggi adalah metode Gauss-Jordan. Berdasarkan data penelitian, mahasiswa melakukan kesalahan dalam melakukan operasi baris elementer (OBE), membentuk ke dalam matriks yang diperbesar, dan bahkan pemahaman mendasar mengenai reduksi baris dan ini berpengaruh dalam menentukan solusi suatu SPL. Untuk itu perlu dianalisis hambatan belajar yang terjadi dalam menentukan solusi SPL menggunakan metode Gauss-Jordan. Peneitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan merupakan bagian dari Didactical Design Research (DDR). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu universitas di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) dengan subjek penelitian merupakan 20 mahasiswa calon guru matematika. Teknik penelitian ini adalah tes diagnostik dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan beberapa hambatan yang dialami mahasiswa adalah keterbatasan pemahaman pada OBE, pengklasifikasian MEBT, dan merepresentasikan MEBT ke dalam solusi SPL. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini adalah pengajar hendaknya membuat suatu bahan ajar yang dapat meminimalisir hambatan belajar yang dialami mahasiswa. AbstractOne of many methods of finding solution of a system of linear equations (SLE) studied in higher education is the Gauss-Jordan method. Based on the research, students made mistakes in performing elementary row operations (ERO), forming into augmented matrices, and even basic understanding of row subtraction and this has an effect on determining the solution of an SLE. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze the learning obstacles that occur in determining the solution of LES using the Gauss-Jordan method. This qualitative research is part of the Didactical Design Research (DDR). This research was conducted at a university in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) involving 20 students as preservice mathematics teacher. The technique of this research is diagnostic test and interview. The results show that some of the obstacles faced by students are insufficient understanding of ERO, classifying reduced row-echelon form (RREF), and representing MEBT into SPL solutions. This study recommends that teachers create teaching materials that minimizes learning obstacles experienced by students.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah guru dapat membuat artikel ilmiah dan mengetahui respon guru dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan. Sasaran PKM 15 guru Matematika dan IPA di Kefamenanu Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) yang sudah memiliki draft artikel, sedang menjalani penelitian, dan memiliki ide penelitian namun tidak mampu mengeksekusinya. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan untuk mengakomodir kebutuhan guru agar didampingi menghasilkan karya tulis. Metode dalam PKM ini adalah pendampingan pelatihan. Guru-guru dibagi ke dalam masing-masing bidang studi dan dimentori oleh satu Dosen sesuai bidang studi. Materi pelaksanaan dibuat dalam dua pertemuan: pelatihan tatap muka dan pendampingan online. Hasil dari pelatihan adalah semua guru dapat merumuskan ide penelitian ke dalam template yang disediakan. Hasil dari pendampingan adalah semua guru sudah memiliki draft penelitian dan satu guru IPA sudah membentuk draft penelitian ke dalam artikel ilmiah dan siap di-submit ke jurnal online. Respon peserta berdasarkan kuesioner yang diberikan adalah untuk aspek pelaksanaan pelatihan: 71,5% peserta puas, aspek narasumber: 57,625% peserta puas serta aspek fasilitas/benefit yang didapat: 67% peserta sangat puas. Hasil menunjukan peserta memiliki motivasi positif terhadap kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan ini terutama terhadap proses dan manfaat yang didapat selama kegiatan sehingga kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi suatu kegiatan yang regular dilakukan.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hambatan didaktis pada pertidaksamaan kuadrat. Pilihan didaktis sering didasarkan pada intuisi guru akan kompleksitas dan ketidaklengkapan informasi akan sebuah pendekatan. Melalui analisis didactical obstacles, guru dapat menghindari atau setidaknya berhati-hati pada suatu pendekatan yang terlihat sederhana dan mudah, tetapi menuntun pada terjadinya hambatan belajar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan paradigma interpretif dalam kerangka penelitian desain didaktis. Penelitian dilakukan pada 105 siswa kelas IX dan satu orang guru pada salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas di Bandung. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui soal tes pertidaksamaan kuadrat, analisis buku pegangan guru, wawancara siswa dan guru. Hasil pekerjaan siswa atas soal pertidaksamaan kuadrat dianalisis untuk melihat cara mengetahui siswa dan pemahaman siswa. Cara mengetahui ini akan dibandingkan dengan pilihan didaktis yang digunakan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat didactical obstacles dalam pertidaksamaan kuadrat. Hambatan didaktis tersebut adalah penggunaan metafora pembuat nol sebagai konsep utama dalam penyelesaian pertidaksamaan kuadrat. Pembuat nol ini merupakan implikasi dari penggunaan pendekatan sign chart. Untuk itu guru perlu berhati-hati menggunakan pendekatan garis bilangan dan metafora pembuat nol sebagai pilihan pendekatan didaktis. Penggunaan pendekatan dengan lintasan belajar yang dimulai dari pendekatan fungsi, dapat dipertimbangkan guru dalam pembelajaran pertidaksamaan kudarat.Kata Kunci: Pembuat Nol, Hambatan Didaktis, Pertidaksamaan Kuadrat.

Abstract

This community service activity was held according to situation analysis and problems that occurred at SD Negeri Sasi Kefamenanu, East Nusa Tenggara. The main problem is the low ability of students to solve problem in reading numeracy literacy in AKM model. This service method is a service-learning method with the aim of improving students' reading literacy and numeracy literacy skills through GASING-themed literacy activities and increasing student motivation in learning through GASING-themed literacy activities. The results of the service activities show 1) students' initial ability to work on reading literacy and numeracy literacy questions as seen from the average percentage value of 54.10%, 2) providing GASING-themed reading literacy activities in the form of providing props in the form of letter trees, paragraph puzzles, providing GASING-themed numeracy literacy activities in the form of providing props in the form of number cards, pattern cards, and number paper, 3) students' ability to work on reading literacy and numeracy literacy questions after receiving GASING-themed literacy activities as seen from the average percentage value of 78. 70%, and 4) understanding the material conveyed through GASING-themed literacy activities, the service team provides a quick and easy way to solve literacy problems, students are also enthusiastic when the service team conveys the material, students also feel that the service team is guiding students in solving problems, students also feel excited in participating in activities, students feel interested in this activity and are willing to take part in similar activities. This indicates that this activity is beneficial for students and motivates students in learning to develop their literacy skills.
