Abstract

This article studies the violence towards Jamaah Ahmadiyah member from social psychology perspective. It tries to find out the process of how the negative attitudes formed and how we can resolve them. Some factors contribute to the formation of negative attitude towards Jamaah Ahmadiyah members, such as benchmark policy from another country towards Jamaah Ahmadiyah, government decision, fatwa from an Islamic Cleric Groups, statement from prominent people, weak law enforcement, and so forth. A comprehensive action should be implemented to overcome the problem.

Abstract

Provision of quality housing and settlements is the basic right mandated by the Constitution. The enactment of Law No. 1 of 2011 on Housing and Settlements Area is the legal basis of housing maintenance and settlement areas in Indonesia. The concept of eco-settlement is a concept of ecologically developed from the concept of sustainable development. The concept harmonized the three pillars, namely social, economic, and ecological sustainability supported by established institution. Related to the concept of ecosettlement, the Law on Housing and Settlements Area accommodates several parameters in the concept, but some issues such as healthy and environmental friendly housing criteria, community education, community participation and institutional strengthening to be arranged in a more detailed regulations.

Abstract

Smoking cessation is not a simple thing for smokers. Most of them realized smoking is danger for their health, therefore they intense to quit. Nevertheless, many of them can’t be succeed in oversteping the rehabilitation process and than relapse. This research explore rehabilitation problem experienced by heavy smokers who have more complex relapse experience rather than smokers with lower level. This research used cognition approach, that is Health Belief Model (HBM). To explore the problem deeply, qualitative method has been used. The result is, although smokers have been through rehabilitation process, they didn’t fully understood that smoke is danger for themselves. Internal factor is the most influenting factor, especially health motivation and locus of control. This factors influence their perception on health threat and their evaluation of health behavior. Government has significant role for a successful modification of healthy new behavior through regulations.

Abstract

The Provincial Administration of Jakarta turned Pasar Rebo Hospital, Cengkareng Hospital and Haji Hospital into limited liabilities corporations through the issuance of Provincial Regulation No. 13, 14, 15 in 2004. To identify the interaction between elite and their role toward public hospital privatization. This study examines the factors underlying the establishment of the privatization policy, and the interaction between elites and their role toward public hospital privatization. This study found that the interaction between elites, both political elites and non political elites, was influenced by their interest, ideology and behavior. From these cases of hospital privatization, it can be analyzed that all elites that involved in this process have their own interests, whether it be the desire to defend the power and ownership, vision and purpose, a belief in values, including the history of the establishment or the financial aspect. In the case of privatization of government hospitals in Jakarta, elites’ personality – including the commitment preferences and values or vision- proven to influence the process of formulation, implementation, and termination of the policy. Policy and politics in health sector has to be directed to make sure that state is not only become the arena of vested interest and social politics conflict. The role of the state as regulator and policy maker must delivered fairly and proportionally to guarantee the public health interest become the major priority rather than profit orientation, include the role and involvement private sector and other ruling elite.

Abstract

One of the most urgent issue in the development of Indonesia today is the quality of human resources, mainly generated by higher education which is the source of innovation and solutions for the growth and development of the nation. This paper description how quality assurance has been regulated in Indonesia trough the Sistem Pendidikan Nasional laws. But the direction and coordination of higher education quality assurance system is stil uncleared, so that the quality of higher education is not yet guaranteed. Therefore, a grand design of quality assurance systems should be made to solve the problem of the low quality of higher education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of telecommunication technology has enable people to bring the highest used of Internet. People can now access many new sources of information from the net. We can download book from the net and bring it home cheaply. The trend of digital book is soon covered Indonesia in the next five to ten years. This trend gives new way to define book. It is not only printed papers anymore, but also a digital work that can be read and even heard. The trend would also change the way book system works. Not to mention, people’s culture in macro. Digital product change the way people producing, reading, reasoning to buy a book and the means of transfer knowledge. Having the trend grows rapidly in every cities, Government must find way to control the system. Digital works is basically free of control, which can lead to various point of view, including the misuse of the product. As the Government need to protect citizen’s intellectual rights, at the same time must provide the easy way to access knowledge, the rule of book system must be considered carefully.

Abstract

This article attempts to describe the role and the pursuit of women’s leadership in Nagari (the villages) in West Sumatra. The issue is related to success of women appeared as Wali Nagari (Nagari’s formal leader) in the Era of Reform with a case study of Wali Nagari Batu Basa in Dictrict Tanah Datar. The victory of Bariana Sain, a middle-aged woman, even in a direct election in 2009, as a wali nagari Batu Basa are a new chapter in political history of women in West Sumatra. Previous elections with representative system at Nagari’s People’s Representative Council (BPRN) tends to choose men as wali nagari. However, democratization in the Reform Era have influenced the “perception” of local community towards women’s leadership. A victory of women as formal leaders in the Nagari Batu Basa was not only reflection of an egalitarian attitude of society, but also the competence of the women figure. Another winning factor is, of course, also related to the declining her rivals popularity, including incumbent.
