Anita Anggreani, The Effect of Project Based Learning (PBL) in Teaching Writing to the Second Grade of SMPN 1 Parepare, (Supervised by Mujahidah and Wahyu Hidayat.) Project Based Learning (PBL) is a learning model in which students work individually to produce a particular product that originates from the problems that surround it. The goal of this study is to describe how students learn English in class VIII.2 of SMPN 1 Parepare using Project Based Learning (PBL) strategy, as well as to determine whether students’ writing ability in learning English increases as a result of the Project Based Learning (PBL) strategy. This research is a classroom action research that attempts to improve students’ writing abilities in English learning through a Project Based Learning strategy. The subjects were 32 students from SMPN 1 Parepare class VIII.2 during the academic year 2021/2022. The research was split into two cycle. The information for this research was acquired thorugh an interview, an observation checklist, a questionnaire, and a test. The study’s fidings revealed that students’ English skills improved as evidenced by: a) the percentage of students steadily improved their scores at the conclusion of each cycle. The English lesson’s Minimum Mastery Criterion-Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) Score was 78 (Seventy Five). The students average pre-test score was 58,9. In the first cycle, the average score was 76,6. In the second cycle, the average score was 86,3. b) The students’ responses to the increased interest in learning English through a Project Based Learning (PBL) strategy are generally positive. The data showed a score of 94,3%, which means “Excellent”. c) through an observation checklist, students’ participation in students activities indicating that students’ participation steadily increased form the first to the second cycle. The objective of the this research are to find the type of code mixing, code switching user which using two languages of english eduaction department at IAIN Parepare. This reserach will answer these main question : what kinds of code mixing and code switching used in instagram, what are the functions of code mixing and code switching used instagram. This reserach used qualitative approach, it used content analysis the data it was from students status posted mei until october 2020 the researcher collected the data by using documentation and observation cheklist the data was anaylzed the types of code mixing based poplack theory, code switching based suwito theory, analyzed what function of code mixing and code swithing on students instagram based on marasigan theory, and analyzed what reason of code mixing and code switching on students instagram based on hoffman theory.The result showed that the analysis the total data 14 unit of analysis of code switching, all three types found that 9 data (42,9%) used inter-sentential switching. It showed that inter-sentential switching is commonly use on students instagram. The type had found 3 insertion of words (14,3%). Based on the data, students status on instagram commonly used insertion of word and insertion of phrase to mix the code. The researcher found functions that used by students on instagram in order to perform both code mixing and code switching, facility expression (F7) 8 data or (38,1%). Character values should be taken into consideration in teaching and learning material. Textbook is one of media that can be used in teaching character education. The purpose of this research were to find out what character education values in English textbook students for grade seventh entitled “When English Rings A Bells”. This research was focused on revealing the Character Educational Value based on The Ministry of Education and Culture within the textbooks. This research used content analysis study to know the implemented EFL textbook. The procedure in data collection were table checklist and documentation. Technique of data analysis is data collection, data reduction, data display and conclussion. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion that has been described shows that Character Educational value in English Textbook entitled When English Rings A Bell, The value of Friendship/Communicative was the most Common Value With 21%. Then it was followed by Independent with 17%. The other valaue such as Religious 12%. Hard work value contains 7%. Discipline and Social Care value with 5%. Curiosity value with 4.6%. Creativity, Nationalism, and Appreciation Achievement with 4.1%. Enviromental Awareness and Honesty values with 3.5%. Reading Interest value with 2.5%. Tolerance value with 2.0%.Patriotism and Responsibility value contains 1.02%. The smallest were Love and Peace value with 0.5%. These findings lead to the conclusion that the textbook contain character educational values and upcoming for the future textbooks must pay a lot more attention to the character values. The aim of this research was to find out whether or not the students’ reading ability improved through High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) for the X grade students of SMAN 2 Kalukku. The method was used was quantitative method. The instrument used to collect the data was reading test. The number of test consisted of 15 and the form is multiple choices. The population of this research was the grade of X students of SMAN 2 Kalukku. The number of the population was 119. The sample of this research was X IPS 1, the number of the students was 27. In analyzing the data collected through quantitative analysis. The result of this research was the applying of HOTS can improved the students’ reading ability for the X grade students of SMAN 2 Kalukku. It is supported by the result of the test which given for the students after given treatment. The result showed that there was an enhancement significantly between pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test is 64.59 while post-test is 83.00. The result of the t-test analysis is 16.883 than t-table value was 2.056. It showed that the t-test value was greater than the t-table value (16.883 > 2.056). Keywords: High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS), Quantitative research, and Reading Skills

Some Indonesian students are found that they have low reading skills. This difficulty causes them in boredom and less motivation to learn English. This research aimed to know the use of genre-based approach (GBA) in teaching reading in terms of skimming at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sibulue. The researcher applied classroom action research. It had two cycles that consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection phase. The researcher found that GBA is a good approach to increase the students’ reading comprehension. Students’ activeness in teaching and learning process improved significantly through the use of GBA. This research aims to provide information about the graduates necessities on English education curriculum of IAIN Parepare. This research is descriptive study with a survey method. The population of this research is the graduates of English Education Program at IAIN Parepare. The total population of this study were 255 graduates. In this research, purposive sampling is used to determine the sample and the number of samples are 72 graduates which is done by the Slovin formula. This research used questionnaire in collecting the data and using percentage technique to see the frequency of the respondents’ answers. The result of this research shows that the graduates necessities on English education curriculum are courses that have a direct impact on their teaching abilities. This research to find out the whether or not the increasing of vocabulary by using stand up sequences game at the second year students’ of MA-Al Amanah Waikaya Kab Mamuju Tengah. In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental method with two objects pre-test and post- test design. The instruments of collecting data used in this research was translation, matching and multiple choice. The population was at the second year students of MA-Al Amanah Waikaya Kab. Mamuju Tengah with total number of student 60 students. But the researcher took XIB. Class as the sample that was taken by using random sampling. Thus, the number of sample were 24 students. They were giving treatment about vocabulary by using stand up sequences game. The result of the research showed the mean score of pre-test was 60,25 and the mean score of post-test was 88,95.while the t-test was greater than the t-table(11,93> 2.064). It showed that the H0 hypothesis was rejected and the H1 hypothesis was accepted. The conclusion is Stand up Sequences game is effective to Increase Students’ Vocabulary Mastery by Using Stand up Sequences Game at the Second Year Students’ of MA- Al Amanah Waikaya Kab Mamuju Tengah.

Through observations made on students of SMPN 2 Pangale Kab, Mamuju Tengah, specially in class VIII it was found that students did not show motivation in learning English in school. Therefore, the researcher decided to use a Relay Race game to solve problems. Expected via a Relay Race Games are used, students motivation can be increased and improved see how the steps in the game can improve students motivation in learning English second year students of SMPN 2 Pangale Kab, Mamuju Tengah. The design of this study is a quantitative method using a quasi-experimental design (nonequivalent control group) with to groups, namely the exprtmental group and the control group. The study population was second year students in SMPN 2 Pangale Kab, Mamuju Tengah consisting of two classes in which the total number was 40 student. The sample of this research was purposive sampling technique. Researchers tookone class, VIII which was divided into two groups, the first group was VIII (A) as an experimental group consisting of 20 students and the second group was VIII (B) because the control group consisted of 20. Data collected trought pretes and posttest. The the method Relay Race game can improve students English ability the apply the discussion method. The results of this study indicate how students speak significantly improve.

This study was aimed to see the students’ perception toward English teachers’ competence at SMKN 1 Polewali. The aim of this research is to get the empirical data about the Teachers’ competence by using Questionnaire. The population of this research comprises 270 students and the sample of the research is 65 students. So, from the students, the researcher had known about the English teachers’ competence. The research method used in this research was a qualitative and quantitative method or Mix-method by using a descriptive design. The data was collected through three instruments they are questionnaire, documentation and observation. So, the researcher used this method because it was a suitable method for this research to describe the students’ perception about the competencies of teachers. Based on the calculation, the result of the data analysis showed that the teachers’ competence got a mean score of 38.8 with percentage of 72.31% which was included average category. The teachers of SMKN 1 Polewali have a good competency but they still need to improve their competence.

Grammar is study of rules that cover the combination of words to form meaningful and grammatically correct sentence. This study use Experience, Generalization, Reinforcement, and Application (EGRA) technique to improve students` grammar mastery. By using this technique the students try to find out the form and function of the sentence by themselves. Besides that, EGRA technique has various instructions to help students understand the material; giving picture, vocabularies and quiz in experience step, analyzing the text in generalization step, providing in reinforcement step, and giving a task in application step. This study was aimed to see the Improving Grammar Mastery at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Pinrang. The objective of this study is to get the empirical data of the differences between students` score grammar test that were taught by using EGRA technique and the students were not. The population of this study consists of 273 students. The sampling process of this research is cluster random sampling technique. The researcher took two classes, X MIPA 2 as experimental class consisted of 36 students and X IPS 2 as control class consisted of 34 students. The design of this study is a quantitative method using quasi-experimental design (non-equivalent control group) with two group classess, namely experimental class and control class. The data was collected through pretest and posttest. It aimed to know whether the EGRA technique in teaching grammar can improve students` grammar mastery. The result of this research shows that students` grammar mastery significantly improves. Based on the calculation, the result of the data analysis by using t-test showed the value of ttest (to) was higher than ttable (tt), to > tt = 9.11 > 1.667, in significant degree of 0.05 (5%). As the statistical hypotheses shows, if ttest (to) > ttable (tt) in significant degree of 0.05 (5%), it means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, EGRA technique is able to improve the students` grammar mastery.
