Abstract

This study intends to find out the effectiveness of using picture as teaching media in teaching WH-Question. The Subject consisted of 10 young aged students attending SEKAMI during the period November 2018 – February 2019. The data were collected through objective test pre-experimental design of one group pre-test post-test. The data were analyzed based on descriptive statistics, in which the mean of pre-test was compared to the mean of post-test. The finding shows that students improved their achievement after being treated with picture. The mean of post-test is higher than the mean of pre-test (X2 is higher than that of X1 = 82.5 > 61.5). This indicates that the use of picture as a teaching media was interesting and made the students easy to understand the situation that had been explained to them. Keywords: WH-Question, Young learners, teaching through picture.

Abstract

There is a tendency in the education field today to return to the idea that children will learn better if the environment is created naturally. Learning will be more meaningful if children "experience" themselves what they are learning, not 'knowing' it. Target-oriented learning of material mastery proves to be successful in short-term 'remembering' competitions, but fails to equip children to solve problems in long-term life. The problems that would to be studied in this study are: (a) how is the improvement of Social Science learning outcomes by applying the Make A-Match Model to it? (b) how does the Make A-Match Model apply towards the learning motivation? The objectives of this study are: (a) want to know the improvement in Social Science learning achievement after the implemetation of the Make A-Match Model. (b) want to know the effect of Make A-Match Model towards students’ motivation of the subject after it is applied. This research is used two rounds of action research. In each round consists of four stages, namely: design, activity and observation, reflection and revision. The target of this research is the fourth grade students of Mongodow. The data obtained in the form of formative test results, observation sheets of teaching and learning activities. From the results of analysts obtained student achievement has increased from cycle I to cycle II namely, cycle I (65%), cycle II (83%). The conclusion of this research is the Make A-Match Model of Social Science learning could positively influence the motivation of learning of central students, and this learning model could be used as an alternative to Social Science learning. Keywords: Make A-Match Model; Social Science Learning; Learning Outcome.

Abstract

This research aimed to make the learning design possible for the development of motor cycle and the coordination of the eyes, hands, brain of the child and carry out the whole plan with the best. Through cooperative learning methods can improve the fine motor skills of children from an average result of fine motor skills of children in collaborative activities in groups. into a medium used in a game with the aim that children can train their fine motor skills. Through this game children are invited to be able to develop creativity through collaborative activities and can develop fine motor skills through these learning activities. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach according to the Kemmis model and MC Taggart. According to Kemmis and Mc Taggart (in Yunus, 2009: 105) describe action research as a set that aims to improve and evaluate decisions and actions aimed at implementing these actions. The discussion of the results of the study was directed at the implementation of the research cycle I and cycle II by following the 4 stages of research, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Thus the learning achievement of children is 82% of the target of 80% who are successful, so this study in class II action research was declared successful and no longer needed to be continued in the next cycle. Finally, It can be conclude that Cooperative learning can add insight to the teacher in choosing the right learning model to be applied in class according to the objectives of each learning that will be carried out. Keywords: Application; Cooperative Learning Models; Children;  Kindergarten

Abstract

This research aimed at describing the metaphors used by the Mohede in the eight songs he wrote. As a qualitative research, this study rellied the data upon the lyrics of the chosen songs. The analysis applies theory of Lakoff and Johnson which divided metaphors into three types namely structural metaphor, orientational metaphor, and ontological metaphor. The analysis followed the steps of Bogdan and Biklen as follows identification, categorization, explanation, and interpretations of the findings. The result showed that the songs confirmed the existence the types of the metaphors such as structural metaphor, orientational metaphor and ontological metaphor. These findings implies a pivotal contribution of figurative speech particularly metaphor in communicating the meaning of a song. Thus, this study foreshadows a further research for comprehending the relationship of metaphor to song lyrics for both linguistic and literary context. Keywords: mathematical ability; students; Problem-Based Learning.

Abstract

Speaking as one of the productive language skills and is an important activity in daily activities as meaningful interaction between humans is still not optimal in the Japanese language study program from an explanation before, this purpose of this study is to achieve the goal of speaking skills; the permitted curriculum in the Japanese Language Education study program, the development competency based curriculum in 2009 provides courses: Kaiwa 1 (会話 1) Conversation 1、 Kaiwa 2 (会話 2) Conversation 2、 Kaiwa 3 (会話 3) Conversation 3、 Kaiwa 4 (会話 4) Conversation 4、 Kaiwa Enshuu (会話 演習) Conversation Deepening and one special course for Japanese speech skills, Nihongo Supiichi (日本語 ス ピ ー チ) Japanese Language Speech. In line with that idea, an important strategy in this learning is to teach students to be able to connect each concept with reality rather than emphasizing how much knowledge must be remembered and memorized. This research used CTL approaches which is contextual learning can be applied in any curriculum, any subject or field of study with a class regardless of the circumstances. In line with what was discussed by the Ministry of National Education, there are Seven (7) main principles that must be developed by teachers in the CTL approach. The contextual approach in Kaiwa learning is also expected to facilitate the achievement of learning goals, namely the aim of speaking Japanese skills to improve students' speaking abilities and provide many opportunities for the practice of talking with friends while making students actively involved in the learning process. Therefore, it is recommended that in Kaiwa learning (the name of the course for speaking skills in Japanese), I - IV this contextual approach can be used even maximized. The researcher realizes that this learning model is not the only one that is most suitable and relevant in teaching Japanese speaking skills courses but can be used as enrichment material. Keywords: Contextual Approaches; Kaiwa Learning; Speaking; Japanese Language.

Abstract

The problem with this research is that the second semester students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Department are not yet skilled at speaking. The teaching methods provided have not been able to solve the problem. Therefore a learning model is developed which aims to improve speaking skills. The purpose of this study is to describe what efforts can be made to improve the speaking skills of second semester students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Department (2018). To describe what learning model can improve the speaking skills of the second semester students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Department (2018). The method used in this research is the R&D (Research and Development) method. Of the six parallel classes, the test is only applied to one class because there is no difference in character between one class and another class. The number of students subject to test is 35 people. Quantitative data will be processed using percentage techniques. The value achieved in the pretest before using the model will be compared with the value achieved at the posttest that is after using the model. The results showed that students were ‘quite skilled’ in speaking because the average grade obtained was 7.3. Judging from the aspects assessed, the logical aspect of the proposition, the average grade obtained by students is 8.6. For aspects of text development, the average value obtained is 6.4. For the cohesiveness aspect, the average grade obtained was 8.4. While the aspect of intonation / accent, the average grade obtained is 6.5. It is clear that guided training techniques have not been able to maximize the speaking skills of second semester students, especially the development of texts and intonation / accent. Although the results of the study show that speaking skills have not been maximally achieved by students because they are still below the expected average value (80%), it does not mean that the application of guided training techniques cannot improve students 'speaking skills because the results of the pretest carried out indicate that students' speaking skills are still under the value which is 6. Keywords: Speaking skills; Learning models.
