Abstract

The pipe bending process in the manufacturing industry, particularly for air conditioner (AC) components, often faces quality problems in the form of flattening (ovalization) and wrinkle defects, which can reduce product functionality and strength. Initial data show that the defect rate reached 8.2%, exceeding the company’s target of ≤ 3%. This study aims to reduce these defects by applying the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Action) method supported by the Seven Quality Control Tools. Data were collected from 18,000 production units during the January–March period using check sheets and analyzed using histograms, Pareto diagrams, and fishbone diagrams to identify dominant defects and their root causes. Improvement actions included adjusting bending machine parameters, modifying the mandrel design, developing and implementing Work Instructions, adding measuring tools, applying lubrication, and providing operator training. The results show a significant reduction in nonconforming products from 691 units to 37 units, equivalent to 0.21% of total production, with the bending process operating in a stable and statistically controlled condition. Thus, the integration of PDCA and the Seven Quality Control Tools is proven to be effective in improving quality and production efficiency.

Abstract

The palm oil industry is a strategic sector in Indonesia; therefore, the sustainability of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) supply is a crucial factor in maintaining the continuity of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production. PT Teupin Lada experiences uncertainty in FFB supply due to its dependence on external suppliers without fixed contracts, which leads to raw material downtime and reduced operational efficiency. This study aims to forecast FFB supply and to formulate supply security strategies based on the forecasting results. The Holt–Winters method is employed because it can accommodate trend and seasonal patterns in time series data. The data analyzed consist of historical FFB supply data from January to December 2024. Forecasting accuracy is evaluated using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The results indicate that FFB supply exhibits a seasonal pattern. The additive Holt–Winters model provides the best performance, with a MAPE value of 6.28%. The forecasting results are then used as a basis for developing supply security strategies, including minimum supply contracts, seasonal incentives, and backup suppliers.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces foam and spring beds. The company has experienced problems in supply chain management, particularly delays in the delivery of raw materials from suppliers, which have disrupted production activities and hampered the achievement of company targets. This study aims to measure supply chain performance, identify key performance attributes, and formulate recommendations for improvement. Performance measurement was carried out using the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model, and attribute weighting was performed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results showed that PT XYZ’s supply chain performance score was 94.58, which is categorized as Excellent. However, indicators such as the timeliness of raw material deliveries, production schedule compliance, and level of production machine damage were still below standard. Recommendations for improvement include improving inventory planning, more efficient production scheduling, and increasing machine reliability.

Abstract

Structure MY was first drilled in late 1965 and reached its peak oil production in April 1966, with Np of 12.12 MMSTB, which continued until May 2013. At present, efforts to reactivate mature wells are being intensified in order to increase national production. However, a field can be declared economically feasible for production enhancement if it possesses sufficient oil reserves. Therefore, reserve estimation becomes a crucial step in field evaluation. In this study, reserve estimation was carried out using the Material Balance Method with the assistance of the MBAL simulator. This method is used to determine the magnitude of reserves in developed field reservoirs by utilizing parameters such as PVT data, tank data, production data, and field historical data. The calculation results indicate that the dynamic estimate obtained using the MBAL software is 18.22 MMSTB, with a percentage difference of 1.6% from the static OOIP calculation, and the drive mechanism operating in Layer X is a combination of water influx and fluid expansion.

Abstract

Work environment conditions, particularly air temperature and humidity, significantly affect workers’ thermal comfort. Manual monitoring methods often fail to capture thermal fluctuations comprehensively. This study aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based temperature and humidity monitoring system to evaluate thermal comfort in a workplace environment. The system integrates sensors, a microcontroller, and a communication module to enable real-time monitoring. Collected data were analyzed using the Temperature Humidity Index (THI) to determine comfort categories. Results show that the average temperature ranged from 26.2 to 27.8 °C and relative humidity from 67 to 76%, with THI values between 24.95 and 25.97, indicating moderately comfortable conditions. Higher temperatures were associated with reduced comfort, especially during midday to afternoon periods. The proposed system provides objective, real-time information to support sustainable ergonomics and occupational health and safety based workplace environmental management.

Abstract

This study develops an optimized inventory control policy for pipe products characterized by intermittent demand in a manufacturing company in Surabaya. Monthly demand data from January to December 2024 were analyzed using the Average Demand Interval (ADI) and the Coefficient of Variation Squared (CV²) to classify demand behavior. The results indicate an ADI of 2.6 and a CV² of 0.82, confirming a lumpy intermittent demand pattern. Based on this classification, inventory parameters were determined for a 15-day lead time. The proposed policy yields a safety stock of 18 units and a reorder point of 25 units at a 95% service level. Implementation of the integrated forecasting–inventory approach reduces annual inventory costs by 21.7% and improves material availability from 89% to 95%. Findings demonstrate that demand classification-based inventory decisions provide measurable operational and economic improvements for project-oriented manufacturing environments.

Abstract

The rapid development of vehicle technology increases the demand for efficient and manufactured hybrid motorcycle designs. This study designed a scooter-type hybrid motorcycle body with DFMA method for production and assembly efficiency. The study begins with the identification of consumer needs through questionnaires, then converted into measurable specifications using QFD. This specification became the main foundation in the development of the body structure. The results showed that DFMA design provides advantages over those of custom body manufacturers. Although the duration of manufacturing in both methods is the same at five days, differences appear at the assembly stage. DFMA-designed bodies are assembled in 50 minutes, while custom products take 1 hour. Although the time difference is not drastic, the results prove that the implementation of DFMA successfully simplifies the component structure and speeds up the assembly workflow. Thus, the study concludes that the DFMA approach is a relevant strategy for designing hybrid vehicle components to reduce operational costs and increase productivity in automotive manufacturing assembly in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the process efficiency of student admission (PPDB) using a work measurement approach by comparing manual and digital systems at a private vocational school in Surabaya. A quantitative–comparative design was applied to ten complete admission process records, evaluating three indicators: process time, administrative error rate, and staff workload. Data were collected through structured time study, error logging, and daily task records during one admission period. The results indicate that the digital system reduces process time by 50–90%, decreases the error rate from 15% to 5%, and improves staff productivity by minimizing overtime. The three indicators were integrated into a composite efficiency index adapted from Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), yielding 18.7% for the manual system and 80.7% for the digital system. These findings confirm that digitalization significantly enhances service process performance and provides a measurable industrial engineering framework for improving administrative efficiency.
