Abstract

Refractive errors are the most common visual disorders throughout the world, one of which is myopia (Yeyen Ariaty et al., 2019). Myopia can be caused by genetic and environmental factors, one of which is close viewing activities such as using gadget, PC screen, or laptop for more than 10 hours without taking a break (Lestari et al., 2020). Using gadgets, PC screens, or laptops is inseparable from our daily life. More than half of the world’s population consume digital media as the main choice of communication and media channels at work. Ignoring eye health will affect eye function (Alifina, 2021). Eye diseases are still often experienced by people, so the eyes require good care (Dana, 2020).Objective: This study aims to find out the factors affecting the refractive status progression of Universitas Widya Husada Semarang Staffs. The factors analyzed include age, screen time, eyeglasses use length, and natural history of diseases.Method: This study uses a quantitative research method oriented with inductive logic, while data collection uses questionnaires with Spearman’s Rank Test on SPSS (Nursalam, 2019). With saturated sample technique, the total population and the number of samples is 35 respondents, the questionnaire used in primary data collection was carried out. Validity and reliability tests were tested on 30 respondents taken from outside the research location. Results: The study results show a significant correlation of age and screen time, but no significant correlation of eyeglasses use length and natural history of disease to the progression of refractive status. Conclusions: The research data shows that there is a significant relationship between age and length of exposure to the screen, but there is no significant relationship between the use of glasses and a history of disease on the development of refractive status.

The author tries to find the meaning of these key statements to form them into a category, the author tries to analyze and look for relationships between categories to find meaning/content and finally the author then brings together similar categories and groups them into a theme. Based on the results of direct interviews, the research results were obtained: Caring code is respecting fellow students. Caring code is providing wholehearted service to fellow students. Abstract

Pressure sores (decubitus) are wounds caused by a lack of blood vascularization in the area of the skin that gets the most pressure due to prolonged bed rest, while phlebitis is inflammation of the intima of the veins and is usually associated with pain and tenderness along the cannulated vein, erythema, warmth and scratch formation with the palpable cord. Objective: This study aims to describe the potential for decubitus and phlebitis to occur at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan 2023. Method: Descriptive research design using purposive sampling technique with a total of 80 respondents. The research instrument uses the Braden scale assessment form to determine the risk of pressure ulcers and the VIP Score assessment form to determine the risk of phlebitis using observation techniques in data collection. For data analysis, univariate analysis was used, the data was presented in the form of distribution and frequency tables. The results show that the risk of decubitus events is mostly low risk as many as 34 respondents (43%) and a small proportion of high risk as many as 17 respondents (21%) from 80 respondents. The risk of occurrence of phlebitis is found in the majority of the early stages of phlebitis as many as 48 respondents (60%) and in the minority there are no signs of phlebitis as many as 32 respondents (40%). Aseptic measures in carrying out medical and non-medical actions in hospitals need to be improved and for further research it is hoped that length of stay, body weight can be used as research variables in observing the occurrence of decubitus and phlebitis in hospitals.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) which is the highest cause of death, and current treatment has many side effects that can be life-threatening, so researchers are interested in providing safe treatment solutions. One of them is traditional medicine such as aromatherapy. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out narrative research in the literature reviewing the effectiveness of lavender aroma therapy in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This research uses a Narrative Review study approach which focuses on evaluating several previous research results related to the topic. Based on data used by Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Spinger between 2019 and 2024. A total of 1,394 articles were found in the initial search stage, after filtering based on title, keywords and abstract this was reduced to 10 articles. And finally only 4 articles were selected that fit the criteria. There were 2 types of lavender aromatherapy applications, namely topical and inhalation. As well as two anti-hypertension active substances, namely linalool and linalool acetate. Lavender aromatherapy is effective in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The mechanism of reduction can be explained by the active anti-hypertensive substance (linalool & linalool acetate) and its application (inhalation & topical). However, further research with better designs is still needed.

Abstract

Based on the world gold council data in 2024, Indonesia is the eighth largest gold producing country in the world. More than 200 gold mining locations spread throughout Indonesia, but gold mining processes in Indonesia especially in Central Java are still carried out traditionally. The importance of this research is that traditional gold mining can lead to health issues such as mercury poisoning and impaired kidney function wich is characterized by the increased of creatinine levels Purpose : to evaluate the blood mercury levels and creatinine levels in Indonesian traditional gold miners in Central Java. Methods : This research uses a cross-sectional analitycal method. The number of samples in this research was 20 gold miners as respondents using a quota sampling technique. Data on blood mercury level results were obtained by examining blood mercury levels with a mercury analyzer and creatinine levels were obtained by examining serum creatinine with a photometer. The spearman’s rho test is used to test the correlation between blood mercury and creatinine levels. Results : As many as 19 out of 20 respondents had mercury levels of more than 20 µg/L, exceeding the threshold set by NCBI but they all had creatinine levels that were still within normal limits according to the NCBI limits wich is less than 1,2 mg/dL. The results of the Pearson correlation test obtained a sig. value (2 tailed) 0,962 where it can be concluded that there is no correlation between blood mercury levels and creatinine levels in.

Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis is a disease with a very fast transmission rate. The bad impact of tuberculosis infection is death. The increase in pulmonary TB sufferers in Indonesia is caused by unhealthy living behavior and lack of knowledge about the management of precautionary measures for pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. This study aims to determine the relationship between parents' knowledge as close contacts about tuberculosis and behavior to prevent tuberculosis transmission in the Pungkuran Pleret area of Bantul. This quantitative research uses observational research with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were close contact families of TB sufferers in the Pungkuran Pleret area. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and obtained 30 respondents. Data was collected by checking questionnaires that had been tested as valid and reliable. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique uses the chi-square test. The results of the research can be concluded that the majority of respondents have good knowledge about tuberculosis, 13 respondents (43.34%), but it appears that the majority of respondents still have poor or negative TB prevention behavior, 20 respondents (66.67%). The most cross tabulation results were that there were 10 respondents (33.33%) with the analysis having good knowledge about tuberculosis and having behaved positively in preventing TB. A total of 10 respondents (33.33%) with analysis had insufficient knowledge about tuberculosis and preventive behavior in the negative category. However, in total, the majority of close contact parent respondents in the Pungkuran Pleret area have behavior that is still in the negative category in preventing TB. The results of the chi-square analysis test showed a p-value of 0.000, which means there is a relationship between parents' knowledge as close contacts about tuberculosis and behavior to prevent tuberculosis transmission in the Pungkuran Pleret area.
