Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional disorder in toddlers, marked by height below the average for their age due to chronic malnutrition. This condition results in growth failure, impaired cognitive function, and a higher risk of degenerative diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and stroke. Teenagers, as future parents, have an essential role in breaking the cycle of stunting. Currently, teenagers are active social media users, particularly on TikTok and Instagram, which can serve as educational platforms. This study aims to assess the impact of educational videos on stunting through TikTok and Instagram on grade 11 students' knowledge at SMA Negeri 4 Samarinda. The research design is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group. Purposive sampling selected 80 students from a population of 235. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Univariate and bivariate data analysis included the Wilcoxon test and paired t-test. Results showed significant effects on knowledge, with p-values of 0.001 for TikTok (Wilcoxon test) and 0.000 for Instagram (paired t-test). This study highlights the potential of social media as a tool for health promotion, especially in educating adolescents on stunting prevention.

Abstract

Fall incidence among healthcare facility patients has recently become a patient safety issue. To date, instruments to measure nurses’ performance in preventing patient fall incidence have been lacking. This paper aims to report the first and the second phases of an instrument to measure the implementation of patient fall prevention by nurses working in hospitals’ inpatient units or wards. The instrument, Self-Reported Questionnaire: Implementation of Nurses in Inpatient Wards in Preventing Fall among Patients (INI-PFP), was developed using the scale development method. In the first phase, domain and item generation was identified, followed by content validity (panel of 11 experts from universities and hospitals) and readability test/ face validity of 14 inpatient nurses). The study initially generated 46 items from the instrument development process. The initial instrument was sent to 11 experts, assessing the items’ relevance, clarity, simplicity, and ambiguity. This stage reduced three items, with the remaining items’ S-CVI = 0.99 for the four categories. The 43 items were subsequently provided to 14 inpatient nurses from four hospitals in the readability test and face validity with 98,17% of the items’ clear instructions, ranging from 57%-100% of question agreement. From this stage, 13 items were re-written and brought to a second round of face validity involving eight nurses from two hospitals. The end of the face validity test considered the 43-Items INI-PFP were adequate to enter the final phase, including Construct Validity and the Psychometric Evaluation for its final validity and reliability.

Abstract

The implementation of self-management for diabetes mellitus patients is influenced by various factors, one of which is a lack of self-confidence ( self-efficacy ) regarding disease and health resulting in people not behaving in accordance with health values and not having a good quality of life. The aim of writing this systematic review is to determine the relationship between self-management and efficacy on the quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients. The method used is a literature search with systematic review (PRISMA) as the standard for conducting a systematic review. Search articles using several journal databases, namely Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Clinicalkey, spanning a period of 5 years (2020-2024) with the keywords " Self Management " or " Self Efficacy " or "Quality of Life" or "Diabetes Mellitus ". Articles that were ready to be reviewed were 15 articles out of 3,704 articles obtained using PRISMA. The results of a systematic review study show that there is a relationship between self-management and self-efficacy and quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients. It is hoped that diabetes sufferers will regularly exercise confidence in implementing Self Management and Self Efficacy behavior with preventive efforts in the occurrence of diabetes mellitus complications. This must also be influenced by the good quality of life of diabetes mellitus sufferers.

Objective: This study was conducted to explore research findings related to factors that influence loneliness in overseas students. Methods: Researchers used the scoping review method to get a clear picture of the factors that influence loneliness in overseas students. A literature search was conducted using the keywords “loneliness factor” AND “overseas” AND “students”. The databases used were Sciencedirect, Scopus, and Pubmed. Inclusion criteria were articles from publications in the last 5 years (2019-2023), articles in English, quantitative and qualitative research with the research population in the form of loneliness in overseas students, the article was accessible. Screening was stepwise and documented according to the PRISMA flowchart. Results: Based on identification, there were 224 articles from sciencedirect, scopus, and pubmed. 9 articles were obtained that fit the criteria after going through the selection process. Researchers used the PEO question format (population, exposure, results) to find related research articles. Conclusion: Based on the analysis of 9 literatures, it is concluded that loneliness in overseas students is influenced by many factors such as cultural factors, social support, discrimination, geography, and adaptation.

Abstract

Pneumonia in addition to causing problems in the respiratory system, also causes psychological disorders, manifesting as anxiety, causing worry, instilling feelings of restlessness, and triggering constant fear that has implications for daily functioning. Supportive therapy is needed to provide a good impact on the respiratory system and patient anxiety. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of spiritual mindfulness on anxiety, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation of pneumonia patients. Quantitative research with a quasi-experimental approach (pre-post test with control group design) in one of the hospitals in Gresik Regency. The sample in the study consisted of 64 divided into intervention groups and control groups recruited using purposive sampling. The independent variable is spiritual mindfulness with a frequency of 3 days and an intensity of 15 minutes. The research instrument to measure anxiety used a questionnaire from Zung SARS, respiratory rate was measured using direct observation for 1 minute and oxygen saturation was measured by observation through pulse oximetry. The analysis used in the study used the paired T-Test and the Wilcoxon signed rank test with a significance level of α ≤ 0.05. Spiritual mindfulness intervention showed a significant effect on respiratory rate (p=0.000), oxygen saturation (p=0.000) and anxiety (p=0.000) in the intervention group, but in the control group all showed no significant effect. The results of the calculation of the effect size of respiratory rate showed a value of d = 1.059, oxygen saturation showed a value of d = 0.735 and anxiety showed a value of d = 1.436. Spiritual mindfulness showed effectiveness in reducing anxiety levels, reducing respiratory rate and increasing oxygen saturation in pneumonia patients.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are still a major health problem in the world and Indonesia. NCD prevention and control programs should be further improved to reduce NCD cases, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for NCDs, prevention and control programs for NCDs in post-Covid Indonesia. Methods: This research is a mixed methods research (quantitative and qualitative) conducted in Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Gresik from July to September 2024. In quantitative research, the research sample was 400 people and analyzed using the Chi Square statistical test to see the risk factors for NCDs. In qualitative research, the research sample was 30 people from health workers, professional organizations and health offices in Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Gresik which were analyzed by content analysis. Data triangulation used in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods. Results: The results showed that the factors associated with post-Covid NCD risk factors were knowledge level (p<0.05) and lifestyle factors (p<0.05). One factor that causes the promotion, prevention, and early detection of NCD programs to be less than optimal is the lack of public awareness of the importance of preventing NCDs. Conclusion: Suggestions for this study are to increase health promotion through information technology, increase the implementation of early detection of NCDs independently and control risk factors, especially at the level of knowledge and lifestyle of the post-Covid community.
