Abstract

Indonesian religious leaders played a key role in the COVID-19 pandemic because their decisions and views are listened to by a vast majority in the Muslim community. This study focuses on the reactions and views of mainstream Islamic organizations such as Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah, Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI), Jamaah Tabligh and Front Pembela Islam (FPI) and some Muslim fugues such as Ustadz Abdul Somad, and Kyai Najih in Indonesia to address COVID-19. This paper found that the response of some Muslim communities to Covid-19 has not yet completely complied with the Indonesian government's guidelines. During the Covid-19 pandemic, some religious leaders conducted and promoted worship gatherings. This is demonstrated by the reaction showing the pros and cons of Muslim societies and also appears to be resistant to the policies set. Second, mainstream Islamic organizations such as NU, MU, and MUI have adopted a logical, realistic approach in asking their adherents to comply with the social distance guidelines of the authorities. However, conspiracy theories by some Islamic teachers have complicated the situation. The third, in the early emergence of Covid-19 in Indonesia (January and February), the responses of religious leaders are fragmented and questioned, but steadily, along with COVID-19 cases increasingly spreading in Indonesia, some Islamic organizations (such as MUI, Muhammadiyah, and NU) and Islamic figures (Abdul Somad, Kyai Najih , and Nasaruddin Umar) are working hard hand in hand in compliance with the guidelines.

Abstract

Capital is still a major problem faced by MSMEs, especially in this pandemic era. As one of the Islamic financial instruments, waqf can contribute directly to developing MSMEs through financing schemes aimed at the welfare of the people. This article aims to elaborate and explore the optimization of waqf as an alternative financing instrument for MSMEs that is in accordance with sharia and halal principles. From the elaboration of concepts and characteristics possessed, both by UMKM and waqf, it is concluded that endowments and MSMEs have a very close relationship in the effort to realize community welfare. Optimization of waqf as a financing instrument for SMEs is carried out while still referring to the halal business undertaken, as well as contracts (‘aqd) that are in accordance with sharia principles in the distribution of waqf. Thus, the development of waqf optimization through financing schemes and their utilization will have direct implications on the development of the halal industry, which aims to realize the welfare of the community.

Abstract

Abstraction At the beginning of 2020 the world was shocked by the pandemic called Covid-19. Its massive spread causes paralysis in various sectors of life such as the economy, education, social and religion. Indonesia is also affected by this impact; various policies have been issued by the government to overcome this impact. One of them is the policy of limiting community activities called social distancing that affects the decrease in economic activity, even some large companies must terminate their employees. This condition stimulated the Islamic philanthropic movement. This study will explore the community altruism and the practice of Islamic philanthropy as an embodiment of social solidarity in Indonesia during a pandemic. This research is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach by collecting data through documentation and interviews with the people involved. A literature study was also carried out by collecting data from various literatures from the books, laws and regulations, journals, and news related. The results of the study show that the altruism of the Indonesian people is still well preserved and explored through the existence of several philanthropic programs and practices. This program is, at least, able to answer the problems of the community caused by the pandemic, as well as support government programs that are short-term and temporal. Furthermore, its existence is also able to increase public awareness and solidarity to keep sharing during a pandemic.

Abstract

Handling economic problems in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic necessitates the importance of cooperation from all elements of society with the government in offering various alternative solutions. This study intends to explore and identify the epistemological basis of Islamic law in the construction of the Fatwa Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) Nomor 23 Tahun 2020 Tentang Pemanfaatan Harta Zakat, Infak, dan Shadaqah Untuk Penanggulangan Wabah Covid-19 dan Dampaknya. This qualitative research is in the form of a literature review with a normative philosophical approach. The analytical theory used is the paradigm of idealism and realism of Islamic law. The results of the study state that the epistemological construction of Islamic law in the MUI fatwa Number 23 of 2020 tends to emphasize the idealism paradigm of Islamic law. First, universal ethical moral values ('am) which are taken from the theological text basis (nas). Second, the use of the rules of Islamic law (qawaid fiqhiyah) which emphasizes the rules of maslahah mursalah (public benefit).Third, the opinion of classical scholars. This finding shows that the presence of the MUI Fatwa in responding to contemporary problems is not always based on the realism paradigm of Islamic law, but also based on the idealism paradigm of Islamic law by making the foundations of theological normative texts and the repertoire of classical fiqh thought as the epistemological basis of its fatwa, as well as in addressing socio-economic problems that arise. caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
