Abstract

A shift in dietary patterns towards fast-food consumption, including among university students, has the potential to impact health and lifestyle. This study aimed to analyze the factors that differentiate fast-food consumption behavior (frequent versus infrequent categories) among students of the Mathematics Education Study Program, academic year 2022-2024, at Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh. Using a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey method, data were collected through questionnaires from 59 respondents. Fisher's discriminant analysis was employed to classify consumption behavior. The findings reveal that the majority of students (35 out of 59) fell into the frequent consumption category, indicating a need for closer attention to the dietary patterns of this group. Based on the analysis of discriminant function coefficients, the most influential factors in differentiating consumption behavior were lifestyle, service quality, a varied menu, an affordable price, and a strategic location. The discriminant model demonstrated an accuracy of 81.4% on cross-validated cases, indicating an effective predictive capability. The implications of this research highlight an urgent need for nutritional education interventions and policies that support healthy eating patterns to curb the fast-food consumption trend among students and the wider community, considering the significant health risks associated with this behavior.

Abstract

Prolonged unresolved tension within a family can result in dysfunctional communication and pose serious risks to children’s psychological well-being. This issue becomes more complex in households where the wife acts as the primary breadwinner while the husband loses his economic role, yet the couple remains together due to social, economic, or parenting considerations. Although many studies have examined the impact of family conflict on children, few specifically address communication dynamics within families who remain in long-term conflict without the willingness or ability to separate. This study aims to analyze the interpersonal communication between husband, wife, and child in such families, and its emotional consequences for the child. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three families matching these criteria. The results indicate that spousal communication tends to be defensive and blame-oriented, while children exhibit emotional withdrawal, anxiety, and difficulty articulating their feelings. The findings are analyzed through Family Systems Theory, Family Maintenance Theory, and Supportive Communication Theory. Therefore, it can be concluded that role-based communication strategies and emotional validation are essential for healing processes in families that remain intact despite ongoing conflict.

Abstract

Aceh is a province granted authority to implement Jinayat Law (Islamic Criminal Law). This authority is regulated through Aceh Qanun No. 6 of 2014 on Jinayat Law and Qanun No. 7 of 2013 on Jinayat Procedural Law. These provisions authorize the Mahkamah Syar’iyah and the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja/ Wilayatul Hisbah to handle jarimah such as liwath. However, the absence of comprehensive technical regulations, delays in forensic examinations, and the limited availability of direct witnesses create difficulties in proving cases in accordance with Islamic legal principles and procedural standards. This study employs a normative-empirical juridical approach, utilizing regulatory review, interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that although law enforcement officers meet the minimum requirement of two valid pieces of evidence, systematic technical obstacles weaken both physical and procedural evidence, thereby posing risks of legal challenges by the parties involved. This research is expected to provide a foundation for drafting clearer technical regulations on the evidentiary process in jarimah liwath cases, strengthen the effectiveness and legitimacy of jinayat law enforcement in Aceh, and serve as a reference for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, and academics in realizing a more just implementation of sharia in the Aceh province.

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are important skills that students must possess in order to face the challenges of 21st century learning. However, initial observations show that students' creative thinking skills, especially in mathematics learning, are still relatively low. This study aims to enhance students' creative thinking skills through the implementation of the Synectic’s learning model in Grade VII of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh. The study employs a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design. The study population consists of all Grade VII students at SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh, with a sample of one class, Grade VII-2, randomly selected from five parallel classes. Data were collected through a creative thinking ability test and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The test results showed that the W value was 276 and the critical value was 73, so 276 > 73. This indicates a significant improvement in students' creative thinking abilities after the implementation of the Synectic’s learning model. These findings suggest that the Synectic’s model is effective in stimulating students to think fluently, flexibly, and originally through the use of analogies in the learning process. The implications of this study are that the Synectic’s learning model can be used as an alternative learning strategy capable of fostering the development of students' creative thinking skills at the junior high school level.

Abstract

Inheritance-related land ownership disputes frequently arise due to insufficient evidentiary proof of land ownership rights. This study examines a land dispute in the Banda Aceh High Court Decision Number 114/Pdt/2023/PT BNA, as amended by the Supreme Court Decision Number 4088 K/Pdt/2024, with a focus on the judges’ legal reasoning and the application of the principles of legal certainty and justice. The research employs a normative juridical approach, using a case study to analyze statutory regulations, court decisions, and legal doctrines. The findings reveal that the panel of judges validated a deed of separation and inheritance distribution executed under private hand, without satisfying the requirements of Article 51, paragraph (1), and Article 37, paragraph (1), of Government Regulation Number 24 of 1997 on Land Registration. The decision is considered to lack legal certainty and fails to demonstrate the consistent application of legal norms in accordance with Hans Kelsen’s concept of justice. Therefore, resolving inheritance land disputes requires a balance between legal certainty and justice to ensure optimal legal protection for the parties involved.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of fingerprint-based biometric attendance and the SIMKULIAH Mobile Attendance system in improving academic service quality at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Syiah Kuala. Respondents consisted of 170 lecturers selected from a population of 1,773 using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings show that both attendance systems significantly enhance academic service quality; the fingerprint system contributes primarily to accuracy, accountability, and data security (β = 0.308), whereas the mobile attendance system demonstrates a stronger influence (β = 0.435) due to its higher accessibility, flexibility, and real-time integration with academic information services. These results indicate that mobile-based attendance provides a more adaptive and efficient solution for daily academic administration, while fingerprint verification remains valuable for ensuring data integrity. The study offers practical implications for digital attendance management and highlights the need for institutional policies, reliable infrastructure, and user readiness to support effective system implementation in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategic role of population data collection by the village government as an instrument for preventing social conflict between local residents and migrants in Gampong Meurandeh Dayah, Langsa City. Employing a juridical-empirical method through field studies, data were collected via interviews, observations, and documentation involving village officials and community members. The findings reveal that the increasing number of migrant residents—primarily students from outside the region—has led to potential social frictions stemming from cultural differences and weak administrative oversight. The village government implements various data collection mechanisms such as routine censuses, the use of the SIGAP village information system, and mandatory self-reporting by newcomers to obtain a domicile certificate. Accurate data collection has proven effective in the early identification of potential conflicts, regulating the number of migrants, and mapping social needs. Furthermore, approaches such as deliberation, the application of local wisdom, and customary-based mediation have served as effective conflict resolution tools. This study underscores that systematic and collaborative population registration is crucial in fostering social harmony at the village level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze changes in regional government authority in controlling pollution and environmental damage following the enactment of the Job Creation Law and to formulate strategies to strengthen regional roles to maintain effective environmental protection. This research is a normative legal study with a descriptive-analytical nature. The legal materials in this study include secondary and primary legal materials obtained through literature review. The approach used is the legislative approach. The results show that the centralization of licensing through the OSS-RBA and a risk-based approach have reduced regional authority in issuing environmental permits, while regional governments remain burdened with the responsibility for supervision and initial action. This condition creates an imbalance of authority, legal uncertainty and weakens the effectiveness of pollution prevention. This study recommends first, the central government must ensure openness and integration of access to licensing information for regions; second, revise and harmonize implementing regulations governing the division of central and regional authority in the environmental sector; third, strengthen the authority of regional governments for administrative sanctions; and fourth, establish a joint governance model between the central and regional governments based on equal coordination and a clear division of tasks. Fifth, increase the human resource capacity of environmental supervisors in the regions and provide adequate monitoring infrastructure.

Abstract

This study examines how Salafi religiosity is transformed and negotiated among university students at Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI), South Sumatra, within a pluralistic academic environment and an expanding digital ecosystem. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach combined with digital observation, the research explores how students interpret manhaj salaf and enact piety in everyday campus life. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with students, lecturers, and alumni, as well as analysis of Islamic content circulated on Instagram and Telegram. The findings reveal that Salafi piety at UNSRI functions both as a moral discipline and a social boundary, manifested through selective knowledge practices, modest dress, and gender segregation. Digital platforms play a central role in mediating religious authority, enabling students to reproduce scriptural norms through visual and networked forms of da’wah. At the same time, digital engagement tends to reinforce ideological homogeneity and promote Arabized aesthetics as markers of religious authenticity. Although Salafi students generally maintain apolitical orientations, their presence subtly shapes moral norms and everyday conduct on campus. The study contributes to discussions on digital religion and mediated orthodoxy by demonstrating how Salafi communities adapt purist ideals to modern institutional and technological contexts. Practically, the findings highlight the need for inclusive university policies that accommodate conservative piety while sustaining civic pluralism.
