Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic that hit the whole world including Malaysia had a huge impact on the country's political, economic, social, health, and service system. It also affects the education sector in Malaysia. This pandemic also caused major psychological impacts such as stress, fear, anxiousness, and depression. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on teachers’ psychological well-being levels and their readiness to handle mental health issues among students. Through these findings, the causative factors of psychological well-being disorders and affected groups can be identified which in turn, can be overcome through appropriate interventions. This study uses an online survey from January 20 to February 13, 2021. To see the level of teachers’ psychological well-being, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) instrument was used. A total of 80 teachers (13 males and 67 females) completed this questionnaire.  The findings showed that teachers’ psychological well-being is a concern due to many teachers suffering from stress, anxiety, and depression. Therefore, proactive and comprehensive measures need to be carried out by responsible parties such as the Ministry of Education Malaysia so that interventions can be implemented to provide psychological support to educators.

Abstract

e-Collab8 is a centralized system that helps manage collaboration information at Politeknik Kuala Terengganu (PKT). The system allows intended users to perform information management online. The problem faced by the management is that the data of the companies conducting the collaboration is not stored centrally in one database and is difficult to access at any time. The objective of this project is to collect records of the number of industries working with PKT and can be accessed by any officer in charge. In addition, collaboration activities can be updated at the departmental and unit level, subsequently reports can be generated for top management needs. The display of company activity status can also be viewed in real time by all users. The research method used is prototype methodology. In conclusion, the e-Collab8 system can help officers in charge and other users to access information related to collaboration easily and quickly.

Abstract

A variety of teaching methods can help increase students' interest and focus on a subject. A game -based learning approach is suitable to be used by students for them to enhance their problem solving skills directly or indirectly during the game session. The students have difficulty remembering and understanding the symbols, structures and functions of electronic components causing them failed to answer assessment questions well. This teaching aids are specifically designed to enhance students’ understanding of basic electronics courses that have a variety of name, symbols, structure and functions to remember. Also suitable use during learning sessions because it can increase students' understanding through rapid learning and revision while playing. Due to limited electronic-based board games in the market, The Components was suggested as one of the learning tools, especially in the field of electrical engineering.

Abstract

This research describes the development of the Final Year Project (FYP) Management System, which aims to provide an efficient way to manage the FYP for students of Politeknik Kuala Terengganu (PKT). The problem is that there are no organized and systematic FYP records and reports that the coordinator of FYP can manage in PKT. Further, no platform is provided to store and access FYP reports that students have documented resulted in difficulty for reading and reference purposes. There are two objectives for this project. First, to develop a management system and data storage related to the FYP online more systematically. Second, to facilitate the FYP coordinator, supervisors and students to access information on FYP more quickly and accurately. This research has succeeded in its goal by implementing the V-Model methodology as a framework for system development with PHP script and MySQL as the database. In conclusion, this research has succeeded in its goals by making it easier for users to manage and access previous FYP report by offering an online smart archive system.

Abstract

This project was created to track student attendance using the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system. Previously, the lecturer had to record the student's attendance on paper. There were numerous issues with students being able to cheat by attending lectures while using paper. By using RFID and a student card to automatically sign attendance, this project can assist lecturers in reducing such issues. The design is divided into four major sections: the power section, the input unit (RFID reader and RFID tag), the control section, and the output unit. The MPLAB X IDE and PROTEUS software were used for all simulations. The findings indicate that the lecturer can account for the presence of students in the classroom. When students enter the classroom, they must swipe their student ID.

Abstract

The frame of Programme Management System for organization is an online system which has basic functions to manage information about certain program. These include courses, workshop or event, participant’s information such as attendance, as well as generating document, for example certification of attendance and report for organization. In fulfilling problem statement for attendance, it is not available since it cannot be administered face to face due to pandemic Covid’19. Next, it is costly to print certificate for participants and it also involved postage cost. Lastly, difficulty in getting the updated list of participants. The objectives of this project are to design, develop and implement an online system in real situation. Methodology used is Prototype, whereby the developing of system is simultaneously administered with the implementation. In conclusion, this project helps organization to run programmes smoothly.

Abstract

The epidemic of Covid-19 has had an impact on many industries, including education. Institution of higher learning education closures have brought significant disruptions to education. One of the limitations of emergency remote learning is the lack of personal interaction between lecturer and student. Innovation and implementation of alternative educational systems and assessment methodologies are urgently needed. The purpose of this study is to examine students' experiences (people, interaction, and time) during online teaching and learning at Polytechnic Muadzam Shah utilizing Tinkercad simulation software for Embedded Internet of Things subject. The study method applied was a qualitative approach based on Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The result of this study, students are able to design circuits and implement programming using Tinkercad simulation software. Most student showed positive response and good competencies or skills, well to write programming code when using Tinkercad simulation software. Therefore, the usage of new approach in online teaching and learning can fulfil the expected progress in learning performance in Embedded Internet of Things subject with no obstacles experienced by students. The Covid-19 epidemic has provided an excellent opportunity to pave the way for digital learning.

Abstract

Poor drainage system in Malaysia is not a newly phenomenon among our society. The unethical activities of dumping rubbish into the drain, literally causing the flash flood due to clogged drains, in particular within the urban areas. The Intelligent Solid Waste Trap Machine Using Arduino is designed to collect rubbish in the domestic drain and capable in collecting rubbish up to capacity of 10kg. This automated machine is 50% mechanics and 50% electronics, functioning based on two microcontrollers. This waste trap machine is the most reliable and effective for promoting the sustainable drainage management in Malaysia at a lower cost. By adding IoT to this machine in future, some manual process can be carried out remotely. Thus, it helps local authorities to collect data on the trend of dumping into drains in certain areas.
