Abstract

Recently, blackouts in Palangka Raya, capital city of Central Kalimantan became more and more often. PT. PLN Palangka Raya branch was always put the blame on the dry season that caused the dam in RiamKanan to have dried resulting in the shutdown of their power engine thus to turn off the electricity supply to every area including Palangka Raya. Endowed with rich natural resources including energy resources such as oil and coal, it is unlikely to see that this region was suffered from lack of power. There must be something wrong in the electricity supply policy from central government in the arrangement of energy. This is one of the reasons why this topic is deemed important as the background of the research. This research aims to find electricity supply policy for Central Kalimantan Province by reviewing the current and future electricity supply policy in order to meet the future electricity demand up to 2025. The current electricity consumptions are calculated based on the historical data and future electricity demand for Central Kalimantan. The methodology used in this research is historical analysis to get the trend of the supply and demand and the review of electricity planning of PT. PLN 2006-2025 in order to meet the future electricity demand. The review on the effect of the coal-fired power plant is also discussed to give readers a clear understanding on the effect of coal-fired power plant on human health in long term. Finally, the objective of this research beside to find electricity supply policy for the Central Kalimantan province, is also to give a clear understanding of the consequences our next generation will face by choosing a certain electricity supply policy reflected in the RUPTL made by PT. PLN. Still this research has many limitations which open further research to give more comprehensive electricity supply for Central Kalimantan such as the more accurate data collecting, method used and time constraint.

Abstract

The level of soil density measured from the value of the dry volume weight. Testing was conducted on the physical properties of soil and compaction test on one day curing. In the standard compaction test variation I (6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%), it is obtained optimum moisture content of 24% and a maximum dry volume weight value of 1.335 t / m3. Testing compaction variations II (7%, 9%, 11%, 13%, 15%), it is obtained optimum moisture content of 26.5% and a maximum dry volume weight value of 1,270 t /m3. At compaction testing modifications variation I (6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%), it is obtained optimum moisture content of 14.4% and a maximum dry volume weight value of 1,870 t /m3. Testing compaction variations II (7%, 9%, 11%, 13%, 15%), it is obtained optimum moisture content of 13,7% and a maximum dry volume weight value by 1,94 t /m3. In the second test, the value of optimum moisture content greater than the first test, while the maximum weight of the dry volume is smaller than the first test. This shows that the addition of the percentage variation in the use of water in the compaction test with one day curing showed that the optimum water content decreases while the maximum dry weight of volume showed increase.

Abstract

Various methods can be used to predict design discharge, such as unit hydrograph theory. Problem to be coped with is the number of flood case required to derive the unit hydrograph for obtaining a unit hydrograph that represents a watershed and to obtain accurateness of certain design discharge. Subject of this study is based on four watersheds, two in the Province of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta: Code and Gajahwong watersheds, and two in the Province of Jawa Tengah: Upstream Progo and Bogowonto watersheds. Unit hydrograph representing a watershed is obtained by averaging the results of unit hydrograph analysis on several flood cases occurs in the studied watershed, in which this study uses the unit hydrograph. Accuracy analysis of unit hydrograph is carried out by comparing design discharge resulted from used unit hydrograph application and referred design discharge reference, which is the discharge of used unit hydrograph result on the most flood cases and analysis result of measured maximum discharge frequency. Results of this study show a tendency that larger number of flood cases used to derive the unit hydrograph implies smaller peak of the resulted unit hydrograph and more accurate designed discharge calculation. To obtain less than 10% relative error on the designed discharge for the outmost numbers of flood cases, it requires at least 10 flood cases with spesific discharge between 0.40 to 1.10 m3/s/km2. Designed discharge resulted from unit hydrograph indicates over estimated as well as under estimated tendency for various period to maximum discharge of the frequency analysis with relatively short length of data (<10 years).

Abstract

“No day without reading ". The sentence was clearly no stranger into a creed (beliefs, convictions) which thronged various enlightenment room in our country. Unfortunately, our nation does have a sense of ignorance that was so severe. Thousands of creed, slogans, mottos lined up, all just be on display. However, reading is a necessity. By reading one can obtain the information needed, stimulates creativity, encourages the emergence of a desire to be able to think critically and systematically, expand, and enrich the knowledge and form a winning personality and competitive. Insightful society is easy to be proactive to the times. Not only important, but also urgent due to read something is the key to build civilization. The behaviours of the students of Building Technical Education FKIP Universitas Palangka Raya in reading are different, there are as lectures took place, there were reading when at home, or anyone reading through the discussion, but this activity is rare to be done. Most of the students choose chatted with his/her friends while waiting Lecturer or to be elsewhere more than reading the books they brought. Therefore, the researchers intend to find out the influence of students' reading interest to their GPA for one encountered semester. Not many students brought relevant books to their class. Only a few students carry the book relevant to the subjects that followed, while others are usually only carry binders or writing books. The result of the research shows that there is a relationship (correlation) between the interest in reading and the students’ GPA.
