Abstract

PT. XYZ is facing a major issue of excessive plastic cutting waste during the CPP plastic production process, particularly at the slitter machine. This waste leads to material overuse, increased production costs, and decreased operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze the root causes of the waste and develop appropriate improvement strategies. The research applies the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) approach, supported by analytical tools such as the Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). The findings show that the most dominant type of waste is excessive cutting residue, contributing 80.07% of the total waste. The main cause is identified as a lack of standard cutting tolerance guidelines, categorized under method factors, with the highest RPN score of 320. Improvement strategies focus on SOP revision, operator training, and machine condition control. These efforts are expected to enhance production efficiency and significantly reduce waste.

Abstract

PT. BAR is a refractory material manufacturer and a provider of installation and repair services for industrial units such as boilers, furnaces, and dryers. In practice, the company faces problems with project delays that have an impact on operational cost inflation and decreased customer satisfaction. This study aims to identify the causes of project delays and formulate risk mitigation strategies systematically. The method used is the House of Risk (HOR), which consists of two stages of analysis. At the HOR-1 stage, risk event and risk agent identification is carried out, as well as the calculation of the Aggregate Risk Potential (ARP) value to determine the risk agent with the highest priority. Data were processed from 68 projects from October 2024 to March 2025, with the finding that 20 projects experienced delays and 19 projects experienced cost inflation exceeding the RAB. Furthermore, at the HOR-2 stage, five mitigation actions were prepared which were evaluated based on the ratio of effectiveness to the level of difficulty of implementation. The three main recommended mitigation actions are a maximum location survey of H-1, checking documents and equipment, and coordinating with users and vendors. As a form of implementation, a redesign of the project implementation flow was prepared that integrates mitigation actions into the actual work process, both for regular and sudden projects. The results of the study indicate that the designed mitigation can be applied applicatively and has the potential to increase the efficiency of implementation and control the risk of project delays preventively.

Abstract

CV. Cipta Karya is a company engaged in the manufacturing industry sector of woodworking, furniture, sawmil, kilndry, warehouse rental, wood storage and log yard. CV. Cipta Karya implements the Make to Order system. One of the crucial challenges that arise in the production process of solid wood decking and doors is inefficiency in the arrangement of production facilities, high material handling costs, and material accumulation in the production area. This research aims to redesign the layout of production facilities by prioritizing improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process. The design is carried out through an approach of optimizing the distance between workstations and analyzing the material handling system, in order to smooth the production flow, reduce moving time, and minimize resource wastage. The research approach used includes evaluating the current layout of production facilities through the use of From-To Chart (FTC) to study and map the intensity and direction of material movement between workstations, so that inefficient flow patterns that have the potential to hinder the smooth production process can be identified, then the calculation of material handling costs (OMH), as well as analysis of the activity relationship between production facilities. Furthermore, a more optimal proposed layout was designed, which was then tested using the flexim 2025 simulation to evaluate the impact of production system efficiency. The findings of this study indicate that the proposed new layout design is able to significantly reduce the total distance of material transfer between workstations. These changes also have an impact on reducing material handling costs and increasing efficiency in the overall production process. In addition, the implementation of a more organized layout also makes a real contribution to cutting production cycle time and has positive implications for improving the overall productivity of the company.

A warehouse layout redesign is required to improve operational cost efficiency. This study aims to propose a more effective warehouse layout using the Class-Based Storage (CBS) method, which classifies products into specific groups. The research was conducted over a period of three months, from December 2024 to February 2025. The results showed that the initial inbound travel distance was 17,877,537.04 meters, while the proposed inbound distance was 17,810,612.67 meters, resulting in a reduction of 66,924.37 meters. For outbound movements, the initial distance was 66,031,993.2 meters, and the proposed distance was 66,015,291.9 meters, achieving a reduction of 1,670.13 meters. The material handling cost per meter was obtained using the formula:(maintenance costs + operator costs) / (inbound material handling moments + outbound material handling moments),which resulted in an initial cost of Rp. 43 per meter, and a proposed cost of Rp. 40 per meter. The initial inbound material handling cost was Rp. 768,734,093, which decreased to Rp. 712,424,507, indicating a cost reduction of Rp. 56,309,586 over three months. For outbound goods, the cost dropped from Rp. 283,937,571 to Rp. 264,061,168, with a total savings of Rp. 19,876,403. The reduction in both distance and material handling costs reflects a significant efficiency improvement, contributing to substantial savings in warehouse operational expenses.

Abstract

Sumber kepuh Village in Tanjunganom Sub-district, Nganjuk District, covers 763 hectares with 78% of it being paddy fields, making it the largest rice producer in the sub-district. However, farmers are still struggling to increase harvest profits. Analysis using SmartPLS showed that the dominance of elderly farmers as well as environmental factors such as fertilizer type, soil pH, and seed quality had a significant effect on yield. A dynamic systems approach through STELLA resulted in three profit improvement scenarios. The first scenario uses superior seeds and a young planting system, increasing profits from IDR 27,487,047,641 to IDR 31,983,065,202 (up 16%). The second scenario, using semi-organic fertilizers, increased profits to IDR 39,072,970,965 (up 42%). The third scenario, a combination of both, yielded IDR 40,568,583,572 (a 48% increase). The third scenario is considered the most optimal in improving farmers' welfare and encouraging the regeneration of young farmers to maintain long-term food security in Sumberkepuh Village.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of soil pH enhancement and pesticide-use efficiency on operational costs and the profitability of a sustainable farming system in Gunungsari Village. In this area, rice and maize are cultivated alternately in the first and second planting seasons, heavily reliant on rainfall and irrigation. During the dry season, this dependency shifts to chemical fertilizers and water pumps, leading to a surge in operational expenses. Employing a triple bottom line approach (people, planet, profit), the methodology combines quantitative analysis via SmartPLS to identify dominant sustainability factors with system dynamics simulations in STELLA to test various policy scenarios. SmartPLS results identify soil pH as the most influential factor (44% contribution). Raising soil pH from 5.97 to 6.80 through liming and organic amendments significantly reduces reliance on urea fertilizer, lowering operational costs by 5.36–7.04% and boosting profits by 12.91% (Rice Season 1), 10.27% (Rice Season 2), 14.65% (Maize Season 1), and 13.83% (Maize Season 2). Moreover, a 20–80% increase in pesticide-use efficiency curtails production costs without sacrificing yield, supporting eco-friendly agriculture. This model provides a systemic overview of social, environmental, and economic interactions and informs data-driven policy recommendations for more efficient, adaptive, and sustainable farming.

Abstract

The high harmonic content in the electrical load or in the power distribution system can result in worse power quality, lower system power factor, distorted system voltage waveform, increased power losses in the system, overheating of the transformer, and inefficient use of electrical energy. So that it can reduce the efficiency of the transformer. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of harmonics on a distribution transformer with a capacity of 2500 kVA using a quantitative data collection method, namely primary and secondary data collection. This study offers an integrated approach that includes harmonic measurements and analysis of direct impacts on the efficiency of a 2500 kVA distribution transformer in the context of the automotive industry, which has not been widely reported in the national literature. Based on the results of measurements and calculations on the transformer, the Total Harmonic Distortion Current (THDI) value is + 9% which exceeds the permissible value of 8% while the Total Harmonic Distortion Voltage (THDV) value is + 2% in accordance with the permissible limit of 5%. The analysis results obtained that due to the presence of harmonics in the electrical distribution system, the distribution transformer experienced a decrease in its efficiency value by 2%, which was originally without harmonics the transformer efficiency was 98.8% and due to the presence of harmonics the transformer efficiency became 96.8%. The combination of real-time harmonic measurements and calculations in the industry not only offers technical advantages, but also strategically supports efficiency, reliability of the electrical system, and smarter data-based decision making.
