Abstract

Factory layout is a facility design that aims to facilitate efficient material movement and optimal utilisation of production areas. PT. Surya Pertiwi Nusantara is a company engaged in the manufacture of sanitary ware. Based on observations in the colouring department, there are problems with the material transfer process, namely the distance between work stations is quite far, which has an impact on travel time. This results in wasteful material handling costs. Data processing was carried out using the From To Chart method and Activity Relationship Chart. The results of the research using the From To Chart method produced an alternative layout with a material handling moment of 7,814. 342.8 metres/month and OMH of Rp. 940,846,873.1/month, compared to the initial layout, which had a material handling moment of 18,334,175.2 metres/month and OMH of Rp. 1,078,049,501.8/month. Based on these results, the layout alternative using the From To Chart method was chosen.

Abstract

Effective production scheduling is essential to improve operational efficiency in manufacturing companies. This study analyzes the application of the Run Out Time (ROT) method in multi-product production scheduling at PT XYZ, which faces the challenges of demand fluctuations and high setup times. ROT is used to determine production priorities based on the ratio between inventory and average demand. Data for six months were analyzed including historical demand, production capacity, and operational time. As a result, the ROT method successfully reduced setup time and idle time, increased machine utilization, and reduced operational costs by Rp 75,500,000. Return on Investment (ROI) reached 196.08% with a Payback Period of two months. These findings prove that the ROT method is effective in optimizing scheduling, meeting demand on time, and preventing overproduction and underproduction. The application of ROT contributes to increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of PT XYZ in the competitive manufacturing market.

Abstract

UD. Loyang Pan Ikan is a manufacturing industry that has been producing galvalume trays since 2010. The production process is still done manually, involving four workers and producing an average of 4,000 baking sheets per month. Each worker handles more than one work element, which can trigger physical fatigue and impact the increase in standard time as well as the high workload. This research aims to analyze the workload, identify lesseffective activities, and determine the ideal number of workers. The methods used include Stopwatch Time Study to determine standard time, Work Load Analysis (WLA) to measure workload, and Work Force Analysis (WFA) to calculate labor requirements. The analysis results show that Worker 1's workload is 125.22% and Worker 4's is 120.58%, which exceed the normal limits. Therefore, it is recommended to add two more workers to reduce the workload and increase productivity.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the optimal number of workers in the Cavendish banana processing process at UD Queen Fruits, Mojokerto. The Stopwatch Time Study and Workload Analysis (WLA) methods were used to measure standard time and workload in each work center. The results showed that work center 3 (sorting and weighing) experienced the highest workload, with an average time of 160.84 seconds, while other work centers were much lower. This imbalance caused production delays and unfulfilled demand, especially for Queen Fruits products. WLA analysis showed that the ideal number of workers in work center 3 is two people, not one as is currently the case. Optimization through additional workers and workflow adjustments succeeded in increasing production capacity from an average of 44-47 boxes per day to 60 boxes. These findings indicate that work efficiency can be significantly improved through proper workforce planning.

Abstract

MSMEs Kerupuk Krecek Pak Sholeh in Kediri produces starch crackers with a Make To Stock system and distribution to Madiun, Magetan, and Tulungagung. Production reaches 3750 kg per month, but is constrained by the dough rolling process which still uses a simple multifunction machine. This machine is not specifically designed, so it produces inconsistent dough, extends production time, and reduces product quality. To overcome this, a special dough rolling machine was designed based on ergonomics, productivity, and anthropometry approaches. This machine uses a stable drive motor that produces dough that is elastic, smooth, and even without lumps. Kneading time is also reduced from 30-40 minutes to only 15-20 minutes. In addition to increasing efficiency, the design of the container and roll minimizes material loss and makes cleaning easier. This machine is able to improve the quality, process efficiency, and productivity of MSMEs Kerupuk Krecek as a whole.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) Kerupuk Ayam Bawang Ibu Sunarti. The main issue identified was the inability to meet monthly customer demand due to the semi-automatic mixing process. To address this, a dough mixer machine was designed and developed using anthropometric and REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) methods to improve productivity and reduce workor fatigue. The mixer has a capacity of 75 kg with dimensions of 85 x 85 x 100 cm, designed based on worker body measurements. It uses a double-sided fin blade made of thick stainless steel to ensure durability and hygiene. The machine produces up to 1,935 pieces of kerupuk per day and saves 5 minutes of processing time. Equipped with four wheels for mobility, the machine also lowers worker fatigue from a high to a moderate level based on REBA evaluation.
