Abstract

Research to determine the effectiveness and concentration of extracts E. odoratumas a biofungicide applied to red chilli (C. Annum L) which is attacked by anthracnose (C.capsici). The research was carried out for 4 months from January to April 2020 at the Microbiology Laboratory of the University of North Sumatra, at the UMA Plant Protection Laboratory and in the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Medan Area University. The research was conducted using experimental methods, namely direct experiments and carried out in 2 stages: in vitro and in vivo. In the in vitro research stage, using a completely randomized non-factorial design (CRD Non Factorial) 9 levels with 1 factor which was repeated 3 replications, namely giving E. odoratum extract consisting of: AF0- = negative control (without treatment), AF0 + = Control positive (0.2% synthetic fungicide), AF1 = PDA media with 10% E. odoratum extract, AF2 = PDA media with 20% E. odoratum extract, A3 = PDA media with 30% E. odoratum extract, AF4 = PDA media with 40% E. odoratum extract, AF5 = PDA media with 50% E. odoratum extract, AF6 = PDA media with 60% E. odoratum extract, AF7 = PDA media with 70% E. odoratum extract. In the In vivo stage, the experiment used a non-factoral randomized block design (non factorial shelf) with the treatment factor of E. odoratum extract obtained from the results of experiments in vitro in the laboratory, namely the concentration of 0%, 50%, 60% and 70%, which is the level of The extract concentration was below the effective concentration and the optimum extract concentration (best from the In vitro results) and the extract concentration was above optimal. Treatment replications and the number of treatment samples to be carried out were based on the results of the concentration to be applied and determined the level in a Non-factorial Randomized Block Design (Non-factorial RBD). ResultIn laboratory experiments showed that the extract was administered E. odoratum with a concentration of 60% and 70% significantly suppressed the growth of C. capsici colonies up to 0 cm2. The ability to suppress (inhibit) the growth of C. capsici is more effective than the use of synthetic fungicides. In field experiments, it can be concluded that the application of 70% E. odoratum extract has a very significant effect on fruit production and anthracnose attack intensity.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out Contact System for Organic and Inorganic Pesticide Residues on Cayenne Pepper. This study used the Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 2 treatment factors. The results of the research on cayenne pepper resulted from the interaction of 0.5 ml / l water (K1) of inorganic pesticides with various levels of organic pesticides having a capsaicin level range between 0.078% to 0.080%. Where the lowest percentage of capsaicin levels was obtained at the interaction with Organic Pesticides at the level of 0 ml / l water (P0) which was significantly different from the interaction of Organic Pesticides at the level of 200 ml / l water (P1). The percentage of capsaicin levels is better obtained at the interaction with organic pesticides at the level of 200 ml / l water (P1) which is significantly different from the interaction of Organic Pesticides at the level of 0 ml / l water (P1) and at the level of 600 ml / l water (P3).

Abstract

Hyponatremia is common in acute stroke, possibly syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) or cerebral salt-wasting syndrome (CSWS). Hyponatremia is defined as a condition in which the sodium concentration is below 135 mEq/L. Hyponatremia can cause hypoosmolality in cerebral blood vessels and cause an increase in intracranial pressure resulting in cerebral edema which can be life threatening. Patient 1, 47 years old male with a hemorrhagic stroke came to the emergency room at Zainoel Abidin Hospital with acute weakness in the right side (2 hours’ onset) and headache when the patient was working in the office followed by a decrease in consciousness (GCS 14), he is an uncontrolled hypertensive patient, active smoker and rarely physical exercise. His blood pressure was 230/140 mmHg, heart rate, respiration and body temperature were normal, right side neurologic deficit with positive Babinsky reflex. The head CT scan shows intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in the left hemisphere. Laboratory examination revealed serum sodium levels of 130 mmol/L, potassium 3.9 mmol/L. During the treatment period, the patient often complained of headaches and frequent vomiting. There were no symptoms of hypovolemia, so it was suspected that the cause of hyponatremia was SIADH and the symptoms improved after fluid restriction and sodium chloride supplementation. After 2 weeks of treatment, the patient was allowed to go home. Patient 2, aged 60 years male with hemorrhagic stroke, came to the emergency room at Zainoel Abidin Hospital with a sudden loss of consciousness on activity (onset 4.5 hours, GCS 11), with vomiting twice, left side weakness, dysarthria, and headache. The patient is an uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes mellitus, blood pressure is 158/102 mmHg with normal heart rate, breathing and body temperature. The Head CT scan showed massive intracerebral and intraventricular hemorrhage in the right hemisphere, serum sodium level of 129 mmol/L, potassium 3.8 mmol/L, and chloride 106 mmol/L, and random blood sugar 226 mg/dL, no hypovolemia was found. The patient had SIADH. After fluid restriction, furosemide and sodium chloride supplementation, the patient's condition improved. Hyponatremia in stroke can be either SIADH or CSWS. These two conditions are similar but require different treatment, therefore they must be determined precisely. Monitoring serum sodium levels and determining the etiology of hyponatremia in stroke patients is very important.

Abstract

Hemangioma is an endothelial tumor that most commonly found in infants and children. Most hemangiomas arise during birth or shortly after birth and proliferate during the first 18 months and then disappear spontaneously at the age of 5-10 years. The most complaints of patients with a hemangioma are the psychosocial problems, which are conditions that can affect the appearance and invite the attention of people around them. Some hemangiomas still require therapy, namely if the size and growth result in severe deformities, or if it interferes with vital functions, such as breathing, vision, hearing and digestion. Therapy depends on the size, location, and clinical stage. In this paper, we report an enormous hemangioma case involving the lower lip in male patients aged 45 years who has acquired wide excision (Cheiloplasty reduction).

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease 2019 simply refers to as COVID-19 is among other coronaviruses that causes respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. The virus was first outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December 2019 but Nigeria recorded its first incidence case in Lagos State on 27th of February 2020, at exactly a year 155,076 Nigerians were infected. Kwara State of Nigeria has 2,901 confirmed laboratory tested cases, 2,268 already discharged and 51 people confirmed dead cases within a year. Interviews were conducted for selected staff and students in Kwara state. The pandemic emergence has both consequences on the educational development of Kwara state with more negative consequences like contributing to decadence of the inadequate education materials as a result of schools’ lockdown, health challenges, prolong of graduating years among others.

Abstract

Congenital hypothyroid (CH) is a Hormonal disorder that can be caused by thyroid gland dysfunction and if not treated early on, will cause serious mental and physical growth disorders. CH is divided into permanent and transient forms which etiologically can be divided into primary, secondary or peripheral. Thyroid dysgenesis is the primary cause and 85% of permanent CH is with abnormalities of thyroid hormone biosynthesis from birth (dishormongeneses). The incidence of dysgenesis accounts for 10-15% of cases. Transient congenital thyroid occurs mostly in infants with preterm birth in low-iodine endemic areas. A study showed a permanent incidence of CH 1: 1500 and transient CH 1: 300 in one of the areas with iodine deficiency in Central Java.Survival analysis showed that the risk of developing mental retardation and delayed physical growth was greater at the age of diagnosis over 1 year.

Abstract

ervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women of childbearing age in developing countries Are related. The HPV study is the fourth most malignant disease in women in the world. 15% of cervical cancers with the virus and cervical cancer was performed. The present HPV aims to investigate the role of vaccines in the prevention of infection. This study reviews information between 2018 and 2020 in Iran by searching databases. The most common sexually transmitted infection is self-limiting. HPV in men and women. HPV vaccination, which is associated with the development of oral-anal cancers, including cervical cancer and genital warts, HPV infection prevents. Vaccination Gardasil vaccine can provide up to 11% protection against cervical cancer The new nine are up to 19% effective against highly malignant cancers of the cervix and even the vagina. Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common and most prevalent diseases in the world today. Chronic inflammation is one of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Since synovial inflammation plays a role in the initial stages of osteoarthritis (OA), therefore, the side effects of OA are the incidence of CVD. One of the most appropriate methods for treating this disease is the use of medicinal herbs that have a blood pressure modifying effect Due to OA as Papaver rhoeas. The present research shows The Effects of Extract of Papaver rhoeas on Blood Pressure of rats with OA and Its Interaction with nitrergic System. OA model in 35 male rats was created by injection of monosodium iodoacetate (MIA) into the right knee joint and then were gavaged with extract of Papaver rhoeas for 30 days.  On day 30, the veins and arteries of the animal were then cannulated for injection and measurement of blood pressure, respectively. Blood pressure parameters (systolic, diastolic, mean arterial pressure) were recorded in groups before and after L-NAME injection. The results were analyzed using SPSS software. Systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure in response to extract of Papaver rhoeas was reduced compared to control(OA), as well as Significant decrease in systolic and diastolic pressure and mean arterial pressure and increased heart beat rate in the presence of extract and LNAME as compared with control group. (P <0/05) .We found that the aqueous extract of Papaver rhoeas has a decreasing effect on blood pressure in rats with OA. This effect may be due to inhibition of the nitrergic system.

Abstract

According to official sources, the coronavirus pandemic that emerged in China in December 2019 has already infected more than 17 million and killed more than 666,850 people. Less impacted than the rest of the world, the Africa continent has nearly 890,000 confirmed cases as of July 30, 2020. According to the African Bank of Development, nearly 50 million Africans will be victims of extreme poverty as a result of the coronavirus pandemic; and this, following the global economic crisis due to this pandemic. It is shown that between 2020 and 2021, Africa will lose in terms of economic income ¼ of trillion dollars and that a contraction of 3.4% of GDP would be noticed. The risk of decline is justified by the decline in oil production by the main exporting countries, notably Algeria, Nigeria and Angola; in addition to the decline in commodity prices on the world market, the volatility of global financial conditions and natural disasters. Even if some analysts believe that the effects of this pandemic are temporary on the economy of the states, it is clear to note that they are perceptible on the world economy in general. In Africa, the low rate of infection, which is 5% since the emergence of the pandemic until July 30, 2020, is a favorable opportunity for the continent to recover and accelerate the process of its economic and regional integration.

Abstract

In 2016, the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia has introduced a new programme to prevent and reduce the occurrence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as well as related risk factors in the work place environment known as KOSPEN Plus. This study aims to evaluate the awareness and perception of KOSPEN Plus programme after 3 years of implementation in MOH health facilities, government and private agencies in Malaysia. A cross sectional study design was employed in the study. All health facilities, government and private agencies which had implemented KOSPEN Plus programme between 2016 and 31 December 2018 in all states in Malaysia were invited to participate in the study. The computer assisted self-interview (CASI) using the pre-tested self-administered questionnaire in the electronic form was used. A total of 362 health facilities, government and private agencies which had implemented KOSPEN Plus programme was involved in this study. Overall, more than 80% of facilities/agencies in this study implemented six out of the eight scopes of KOSPEN Plus. The survey was planned with the goal of obtaining data to support the Ministry of Health in reviewing the present health activities related to workers health in Malaysia and make necessary improvement to the programme.
