Abstract

The general objective of this study is to thoroughly characterize the clays of Analavory, Bemololo and Miandrivazo from a physico-chemical and mineralogical point of view. To this end, analyses were carried out on all  nine samples. The results provided information on important clay parameters such as moisture content, density, pH, constituent chemical elements and specific surface area, and enabled the clays to be classified according to their clay qualities and plasticity.

Abstract

Waste or by-products from the food industry, such as coconut dregs and tofu dregs, are available in abundant quantities. The use of coconut dregs and tofu dregs as animal feed is generally limited. However, in both of these dregs, necessary nutrients are still present in the body Dregs. This can also be reprocessed into flour, supporting sustainable food security. Coconut dregs flour and tofu dregs flour can be used as raw materials in making several food products with economic value, such as snack bars, so that they can support product diversification. The snacks at the snack bar are stick-shaped and have a dense texture. Snack bars can be consumed as ready-to-eat food, fulfilling the necessity of public activity. This research aims to find the optimal formulation of coconut dregs flour and tofu dregs for making snack bars. The best formulation is determined in research carried out by organoleptic testing of the snack bars produced, including color, aroma, taste, and texture, which is then continued with analysis of carbohydrate content, protein content, fat content, ash content, water content, and crude fiber content. The research results show that coconut dregs flour and tofu dregs have the potential to be basic ingredients in making snack bars. From the organoleptic test results seen, the snack bar that has been rated highest by the panelists is a product made from 30% coconut pulp flour and 70% tofu pulp flour, which has quite good nutritional content and quite high fiber content.

Abstract

This research examines the complex meaning of super blue moons, tying together spiritual and cultural interpretations with scientific explanations from different backgrounds. According to science, super blue moons are uncommon astronomical occurrences that combine the features of a blue moon and a supermoon, each adding to the moon's increased apparent prominence. The lunar phenomenon holds great cultural and spiritual significance throughout several traditions. Religious texts like the Holy Quran and the Bhagavad Gita and Indigenous beliefs, make this clear. The moon is frequently linked to divine appearances and spiritual ceremonies. Scholars such as Al-Ghazali and Vine Deloria Jr. describe how current philosophy perceives the convergence of science and spirituality in comprehending moon phenomena. This study offers an in-depth analysis of the resonance of super blue moons with various worldviews. It also emphasizes how they might serve as a hub for integrating interpretations from spiritual and cultural traditions with scientific understanding.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the types and diversity of insects on rice plants in West Kakas District, Minahasa Regency. It is hoped that this research can provide information on the presence of insects that live and are associated with lowland rice plants so that insect pest control strategies can be implemented that are right on target, on time and for their proper use. The research will be carried out based on the purposive sampling method aimed at 5 observation points carried out at 4 locations and the method of catching insects is carried out directly and using insect nets. Research results show that insects are pests and natural enemies. Pest insects consist of 5 orders, 12 families and 16 species, namely Dolycorus sp, Scotinophara sp. , Stenodema sp, Leptocorisa sp, Paraecosmetus sp, Cofana spectra, Recilia sp ., Nephotetix sp, Oxya sp. , Anacridium sp, Chilo sp, Parnara sp, Cnaphalocrocis sp . , Orseolia sp , Chlorops sp , and Phyllotretra sp. Meanwhile, natural enemies consist of 3 orders, 9 families and 9 species, namely Cyrtohinus sp . , sp, Agryophylax sp . , Sepedon sp., Encarsia sp., Menochilus sp. , Ophionea sp . , Paederus sp., Sceliphron sp. and Agriocnemis sp. The results of Shannon and Wiever's diversity analysis are H' = 2.81 or moderate diversity index , richness index R = 4.67 or medium criteria value, evenness index E = 0.52 or moderate and unstable evenness index, and dominance index C = 0.37 or low dominance.

Abstract

An assessment of amphibian species was carried out in the Forêt Classée de Kianjavato (FCK), part of the Dense Humid Evergreen Forests of eastern Madagascar. The research was carried out in two phases, first during the cool season (June - July 2012) and then during the wet season (November - December 2014), covering three types of habitat: deforested area, reforestation area and forest area. Three standard inventory methods were used: direct observation, systematic excavation and trapping. A total of 26 amphibian species were recorded, including one new to the site. Most of these species are classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, represented by low numbers of individuals. The distribution of amphibian species is influenced by biotic factors such as the structure of the vegetation cover. Amphibians are found in both forested and degraded areas. The degraded areas share several species, forming a habitat distinct from the forested area. The study highlights the extension of the range of distribution of amphibian species and emphasises that the conditions necessary for their presence in degraded areas are not yet in place. The FCK, with its varied ecological landscape, is crucial to the preservation of biological diversity in eastern Madagascar.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to study the microbiological quality of broiler meat sold in the city of Fianarantsoa. A series of observations among producers showed that there are slaughterhouses set up in deplorably hygienic conditions throughout the districts. Microbiological analyses have shown the presence of indicators of faecal contamination accompanied by dangerous germs. All stages of the process, from the slaughterhouse exit to the butcher's stalls and through to the most commonly consumed foods, were studied. All indicators far exceed the recommended health numbers. The accumulation of undesirable and pathogenic microorganisms has been distinguished. Enterobacteria indicative of fecal contamination, particularly fecal coliforms, were particularly noteworthy. In raw meats, laboratory analyses revealed Enterobacter cloacae (1,5. 102 CFU/g to >106CFU/g), Enterococcus sp (104 CFU/g), Escherichia coli (4. 103CFU/g) including E. coli -glucuronidase positive at 2,3.102CFU/g, les Staphylococcus ssp (102CFU/g), St. saprophyticus (2.104CFU/g), St. aureus (≈102/g CFU/g) and small colony visibilities of Salmonella ssp (≈1CFU/g to ≈2CFU/g). In grilled meats, Enterococcus feacalis (102CFU/g), Enterobacter cloaceae (4.102CFU/g) Enterococcus sp (3.102 CFU/g), E. coli (2.103CFU/g), St. saprophyticus (1,5.103CFU/g) and some levures Candida sp (>102CFU/g), were spotted. In fried foods, Enterococcus feacalis (103UFC/g), Enterococcus sp (3.105UFC/g), Escherichia coli (≈106UFC/g), Staphylococcus ssp (103UFC/g) and Candida sp yeasts (>102UFC/g) were identified. As for snacks, atypical forms were discovered by the presence of Enterococcus sp and Streptococcus sp (from 102 to 104UFC/g), E. coli (4.104/g), St. haemoliticus (104 UFC/g), St. aureus (2.102UFC/g) and Candida sp yeasts (>104UFC/g) fied. This article concludes that the sanitary and microbiological quality of broiler meat sold on the streets of Fianarantsoa is very critical, and requires appropriate measures and controls.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to: analyze the nutritional content of biscuits made from potato starch with the addition of coconut blondo and the ornagoleptic characteristics of the panelists' liking for the biscuits. resulting from. The method used in this research is a descriptive method, with the addition of blondo treatment. The blondo addition treatment consisted of: control, 10 g, 30 g, and 50 g blondo. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results of the research show that the chemical characteristics of potato-based biscuits with the addition of coconut blondo are water content 2.19 - 5.01%, ash content 2.47 - 3.30%, fat content 16.29 - 24.1%, protein content 6.34 - 9.07%, carbohydrate content 60.56 - 71.59%, crude fiber 2.25 – 2.68%, and calories 458.33 - 490.56 Kcal. Organoleptic characteristics of the panelists' level of preference for biscuits made from potato flour showed that the addition of coconut blondo obtained an average color value of 4.26 – 5.76 (neutral – liked), aroma 4.06 – 5.86 (neutral – liked), taste 4.7 – 5.1 (somewhat liked), texture 4.76 – 5.46 (somewhat like – like) and crispness 4.7 – 5.56 (neutral – like). The addition of blondo to making biscuits made from potato flour in terms of nutritional content of protein and fat and calories is in accordance with SNI Biscuits and is liked by the panelists. The biscuits produced can be used as snacks for pregnant women and toddlers as an alternative to preventing stunting.

Abstract

This study investigates signal attenuation and chromatic dispersion, employing mitigation strategies to enhance signal quality in optical fibers. The results demonstrate that the original signal exhibits uniform propagation, but interference from noise leads to increased signal degradation, as indicated by the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) statistics. The mean SNR of the original signal was 3.4147 dB, which increased to 5.0549 dB under noisy conditions. The SNR sharply dropped to -5.2713 dB after applying quantum squeezing techniques, indicating a discernible loss and a noise reduction. The SNR was raised to -4.8290 dB after noise filtration, suggesting a high performance but still below the initial signal quality. The effectiveness of the techniques was demonstrated through statistical analysis, including a t-test, which revealed variations in SNR under different conditions. Additionally, SNR variation with distance was explored, showing an increase proportional to the square of the distance, underscoring the need for distance considerations in optical communication design. Overall, this research provides insights into the complex interplay between signal enhancement methods and their impact on optical fiber communications.

Abstract

In the persistent pursuit of alleviating the deleterious effects of malnutrition, particularly accentuated in vulnerable regions such as southern Madagascar, a comprehensive examination of the inherent capacities of botanical resources emerges as imperative. The current investigation thus endeavors to delve into the nutritional intricacies and underlying adaptations of four distinct cultivars of Mucuna pruriens, with the overarching objective of elucidating potential avenues for addressing the enduring predicaments of malnutrition, which corrodes the socio-economic fabric of indigenous communities while being exacerbated by the adverse ramifications of global climatic shifts. This rigorous inquiry is poised to scrutinize the diverse cultivars of Mucuna pruriens extensively, meticulously analyzing their nutritional profile encompassing both micronutrient and macronutrient constituents. The fundamental aspiration of this scholarly endeavor is to elucidate the underexplored nutritional reservoirs harbored within these Mucuna pruriens varieties, presenting auspicious prospects for fostering a more equitable and sustainable dietary paradigm. This entails employing a series of preparatory measures including soaking, dehulling, germination, cooking, and drainage, aimed at mitigating the presence of anti-nutritional elements, thereby optimizing the nutritional utility of the seeds.

Abstract

In order to promote the nutrition of tilapia in farming, a food has been created from traditional raw materials and containing a quantity of banana flour and carrot flour from local production 3%. We tested the food which contains 33% crude proteins and 8% lipids on carp fry having an initial weight of 99.56 ±1.12 gr during 50 days in Vakinankaratra region, Madagascar . After 50 days of experiment, the final weights of the fish fluctuated between 187.63g and 188.15g depending on the treatments used. The food containing banana flour, carrot and the control food showed almost similar growth and food transformation rates, with specific growth rates (SGR) of 3.12%/d and 3.14%/ j as well as a conversion rate of 1.5 and 1.5. Thanks to this test, we were able to observe the impact of banana and carrot on the development of tilapia. We will continue to study the use of local agri-food by-products and waste in feeding this fish.
