Abstract

Nyambut Padi Baru dance is one of the regional dance forms of the Dayak Kebahan tribe, Poring, West Kalimantan. This dance implicitly shows the relationship between the Dayak Kebahan people and Jubata. This dance is usually performed during the Gawai Dayak ceremony or the harvest party of the Dayak Kebahan indigenous people. This research explores the philosophical values of the Nyambut Padi Baru dance of the Dayak Kebahan indigenous people by explaining the meaning and relationship between the Kebahan tribe and Jubata in Armada Riyanto‘s philosophy of relationality. This research uses a literature study by exploring articles, journals, and proceedings related to the theme of discussion. The results of this study show that the Nyambut Padi Baru dance of the Kebahan tribe has a meaning as a form of the community‘s gratitude relationship to Jubata for the harvest they received. The gratitude is expressed through a dance depicting the joy and joy of the community for the harvest.

Abstract

Disabilities are a term used to replace the term 'disabled'. One of the figures who pays great attention to people with disabilities is Pope Francis. However, the term disability is not yet popular in Indonesia. They are still often discarded and classifiedas weak and marginalized. The purpose of this study is to see Pope Francis' concern for people with disabilities to be a pastoral basis. The research method used is a literature review. The results of the study show that Pope Francis pays special attention to people with disabilities. The pope noted the injustices and rejection that they experienced. The Pope also pays attention to the dignity of disability. The papal documents mention people with disabilities directly. The conclusion of the study is that Pope Francis' concern for people with disabilities can be a pastoral guidance for the Catholic Church in Indonesia

Abstract

This study explores women‘s perspectives, experiences, and roles in ecological stewardship through the Community of Love for the Environment (Komunitas Cinta Lingkungan Hidupor KCLH) at St. Paulus Parish, Yogyakarta. Rooted in Catholic ecological values in Laudato Si‟, the community promotes sustainable and faith-based environmental involvement. practices in the parish. Five women, aged 32-60 years participated in in-depth interviews and community observation, and date were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Five interconneted themes emerged:(1) creation care as a form of prayer and spiritual devotion; (2) intergenerational transmission of ecological values; (3) kinship-based caring for the Earth as family; (4) integration of faith and sustainable practices in daily parish life; and (5) collaboration that strengthens solidarity across parish ministries. Abstract

Discernment is an important tool in forming the identity of Catholic Young People (OMK) amidst the challenges of modernity characterized by secularism, individualism, and materialism. The influence of modernization and globalization makes it difficult for OMK to find their identity. In this context, they often experience confusion and an identity crisis, especially when they have to choose between different value cultures. A crisis of values, morals, and role models often clouds the direction of young people’s lives. This article explores the role of discernment in helping OMK recognize their calling in life, discern God’s will, and build an authentic relationship with God. Using an Ignatian approach, discernment is described as a means of sorting out the movements of the spirit, understanding consolation and desolation, and integrating Christian values in decision-making. This article employs a literature review approach covering sources from spiritual theology, youth studies, and pastoral approaches to analyze the impact of social, technological, and materialistic cultural changes on the identity crisis of OMK. The article emphasizes the importance of parents’ roles in modeling and transmitting the Catholic faith, spiritual accompaniment, contextualized faith education, utilization of digital media, and experiences of encounter through social action to help OMK build a Christian identity amid the challenges of secularism and digitalization.

Abstract

This paper examines the pervasive gender-based injustices faced by women and children working in Indonesia’s palm oil plantations. It explores how structural inequalities manifest through economic exploitation, limited access to basic services, and systemic marginalization. Drawing on the philosophical frameworks of Nancy Fraser and Serene J. Khader, the study employs a normative and conceptual methodology, integrating Fraser’s tripartite model of justice—redistribution, recognition, and representation—with Khader’s theory of adaptive preferences and localized empowerment. The analysis demonstrates that achieving gender equality in this context requires both structural reform and context-sensitive empowerment strategies. As a practical contribution, the paper proposes the development of a mobile community initiative, Pos Kesetaraan, which embodies both theoretical approaches by delivering legal, educational, and health-related support directly to marginalized laborers. The findings suggest that without sustained, multi-scalar interventions, justice will remain inaccessible to the most vulnerable. Ultimately, the paper argues for a reconceptualization of development practices in the palm oil sector, calling for urgent ethical commitment and political action to restore dignity and equity to the lives of plantation workers

Abstract

This study examines the Catholic Church's resistance to a geothermal energy development project in Flores, Indonesia, by highlighting the theological, ecological, and social perspectives that underlie it. This resistance is motivated by concerns about potential environmental damage, health impacts, and threats to the socio-economic well-being of local communities. For the Catholic Church, preserving God's creation is not only a spiritual mandate but also a moral responsibility related to a commitment to sustainable development. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method.Data were collected through interviews and supported by secondary sources such as media reports and relevant academic literature. Through thematic analysis, this study examines various forms of advocacy carried out by the Church, including the use of moral discourse, grassroots mobilization, and collaboration with indigenous communities and environmental organizations. This study also examines how the Church plays a role as a religious institution and social agent in challenging the narrative of state and corporate development that ignores ecological sustainability and community rights. The findings show that the Catholic Church in Flores plays a significant role in shaping public opinion, encouraging community resistance, and influencing policy debates related to geothermal energy. This study contributes to a broader understanding of ecotheology and the role of religion in environmental justice movements. The Church’s resistance reflects a contextual theological response that connects spirituality with social-ecological activism and offers a model for just, sustainable, and inclusive development.

Abstract

This paper will examine Pope Leo XIV's teachings on dialogue and their implications for the Indonesian church. The method used to study Pope Leo's teachings on dialogue is to quote his direct statements as reported by Vatican News. This method shows that the sources used are primary, which are oriented towards the originality of his teachings. This research system uses an applied qualitative methodology with analysis and synthesis of direct statements placed within the findings. A table of direct quotations related to dialogue will be presented, which will then be analysed and synthesised to determine their implications for the Indonesian church in working together to achieve peace. This research aims to demonstrate the role of dialogue as a means of achieving peace in Indonesia, which is also the spirit of this country. Through its faithful, the Indonesian church has two foundations for dialogue within itself that make it a bridge and a promoter of peace through its way of life. One is a theological-Christological foundation, and the other is a state foundation, based on deliberative consensus.

Abstract

This article aims to respond to an article titled " Christology of Tuak-Tempayan," published in the Journal Studia Philosophica et Theologica Vol. 24, No. 2, 2024. Drawing from pastoral experience in the Nanga Mahap Parish, Sanggau Diocese, the author of the article aims to help Catholics understand the mystery of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, who is truly God and truly man. He uses the phenomenon of distilling palm wine in clay pots as a means to understand and explain the mystery of faith to the faithful. In providing a response, this article uses the qualitative method of literature study. The results of this response indicate that the cultural elements chosen to understand and explain the Christological dogma are less suitable and appropriate for use. This article also shows that the concept of "Tuak-Tempayan Christology" to some extent does not heed the Church's teachings, especially regarding theology and the interpretation of dogma closely related to the communion of the Church. In order for "Tuak-Tempayan Christology" to truly become a contextual christology, this article suggests that reflections on the phenomenonof tuak-tempayan be linked to the life experiences of the Dayak people and the cries of the earth where they live.
