Abstract

For thousands of years, the Dayak Ngaju people in Central Kalimantan have practiced a traditional rice cultivation system called Manugal, which involves planting rice directly on the ground without artificial fertilizers or pesticides. This method relies on rainwater and natural materials, and it is guided by the teachings of the Kaharingan belief system, recognizing rice as a divine manifestation, and adhering to the traditional calendar. However, the Green Revolution and the globalization of modern food production, initiated in the late 1960s, introduced intensive agriculture, chemical inputs, and high-yielding crop varieties. This modernization marginalized local traditions, including Manugal, in Central Kalimantan. This qualitative descriptive case study examines the background of the Green Revolution and its impact on Manugal, the ecological consequences of agricultural modernization, and the comparison between Manugal and modern monoculture farming systems. The study aims to propose strategies for maintaining the Manugal tradition and achieving ecological sustainability.

Abstract

Introduction: Previous studies have shown pulmonary vascular thickening found in COVID- 19 patients. In addition, the CT-Severity Score (CT-SS) scoring system have become a reference in assessing the severity of COVID-19. This study analyzes the relationship between pulmonary vascular thickening on CT-Scan thorax with CT-SS in patients with confirmed COVID-19.Materials and Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 137 patients with confirmed COVID-19 at the Radiology Installation of Doctor Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital Makassar. Patients who were eligible and had undergone a chest CT-Scan were then measured for their pulmonary vascular thickness in the intralesional and extralesional areas of the secondary lung lobes. The CT-SS score was assessed to determine the degree of mild or severe disease based on the opacity of the involved lung segment. Independent T-test and Chi- square were used to determine the differences and relationships between the variables studied. Results: Based on CT-SS, most subjects were classified as mildly ill (CT-SS < 19.5, 78/137 people). The mean intralesional and extralesional vascular thickening was 2.65 ± 0.48 and 2.17 ± 0.36, respectively. There was a significant difference between vascular thickness between subjects with mild and severe CT-SS categories (intralesion: 2.4 ± 0.33 vs. 2.99 ± 0.47, p=0.001; extralesion: 2.04 ± 0.28 vs. 2.35 ± 0.39), Conclusion: Vascular thickening on CT-Scan chest images is related to the severity of COVID-19 as measured by CT-SS scoring. Keywords: COVID-19, Chest CT-Scan, CT-Severity Score, Pulmonary Vascular Thickening

Abstract

Fasting is one of the religious practices or rituals/worship found in almost every religious tradition, including the Christian and Islamic religious traditions. Several scholars of religious studies, through various research, claim that fasting was practiced thousands of years ago by various religious adherents in the world and persists to this day. This study attempts to describe the teachings and practices of fasting in Christianity and Islam and then provides an analysis of the similarities and differences in implementing these teachings in the context of Indonesia. This study is library research in the sense that this study will rely on books and scientific journals related to this topic as primary data sources. This study found that the practice of fasting in Christianity and Islam each has its meaning, uniqueness, and characteristics. For example, they have their meaning about the purpose of fasting, the arguments they use for fasting, the types of fasting, and the procedures. Furthermore, this study argues that religious teachings, both Christianity and Islam, are dynamic, multi-interpretative, and contextual.

Abstract

PT. X is a manufacturing company engaged in the processing of coffee beans. In line with its development, PT. X innovates in creating new products, one of which is GC coffee, which is a combination of creamer, coffee powder, milk powder, and sugar. In the production process, the company strives to always provide the best for consumers in terms of quality and price. The quality improvement method is the seven tools, which is a method to find out the root causes of problems. The tools used to analyze this research are flowcharts, check sheets, Pareto charts, control charts, histograms, distribution diagrams, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). The results of the data analysis revealed that non-standard product types occurred for GC coffee products during January and June—total production from January to June: 2,372,411 sachets, Number of defects: 148,820 sachets. Three factors cause defects: taste mismatch: 7,120 sachets, inappropriate packaging: 73,323 sachets, improper weight: 68,377 sachets. Based on the results of calculations and analysis using the seven tools method and the 5 whys method, the most dominant defect is inappropriate packaging, so the proposed improvements are focused on these defects. The progress made is maintenance and continuous repair of machines with problems, complying with the SOP that has been set by the company correctly, and scheduling machine maintenance.

Abstract

The right to freedom of religion for everyone is regulated in the Constitution of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This right should be possessed and practiced properly for a better life of the nation and state. This research aims to appropriate Amartya Sen's thoughts for the practice of religious freedom in Indonesia. By tracing Amartya Sen's thoughts on freedom, this article seeks to ask questions such as how the pattern of religious freedom for citizens in Indonesia, which is pluralistic, and how the limits of religious freedom should be applied. This research uses two methods of data collection. First, the literature review method to trace the thoughts of Amartya Sen. Second, the netnography method to obtain data related to the practice of religious freedom in Indonesia. The data found were then analyzed using deductive-inductive content analysis techniques. After that, this research then appropriates Amartya Sen's thoughts for religious freedom in the Indonesian context. This research finds that religious freedom is the right of every citizen and the state should protect and guarantee these rights with the right mechanism.

Abstract

This research problematizes the law of interfaith marriage in Indonesia and its application. By presenting some cases of interfaith marriages that occurred during 2022, through literature searches and media reports, this research shows the tendency of violations of human rights, particularly the right to freedom of religion or belief (FoRB), especially by using the argument of the Marriage Law No. 1, 1974. This study found that marriage law in Indonesia does not provide legal certainty for interfaith marriages, thus allowing certain groups to discriminate against interfaith couples accessing legal marriages. Furthermore, this research argues that one way to make marriage law in Indonesia inclusive is to use the human rights paradigm as the basis for formulating marriage law.
