Abstract

The Riau Archipelago in Indonesia possesses significant coastal and marine ecosystems that underpin tourism development. However, these assets are increasingly threatened by climate change, fragmented spatial planning, and unequal infrastructure provision. Grounded in sustainable tourism development theory, green infrastructure planning, and strategic management theory, this study aims to identify and prioritize green infrastructure-based strategies that enhance climate resilience and long-term tourism sustainability. Using a mixed-methods approach, primary data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and structured questionnaires involving 15 purposively selected stakeholders from government agencies, tourism operators, and environmental organizations. Secondary data were obtained from regional planning documents, tourism statistics, and environmental reports. SWOT analysis was applied to systematically identify internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats related to green infrastructure integration. Subsequently, the analytical hierarchy process was employed to assign weights and rank 20 alternative strategies based on stakeholder judgments. The analysis produced an IFAS score of 2.71 and an EFAS score of 2.47, indicating a moderately favorable strategic position. The results highlight mangrove restoration and hybrid coastal protection as top priorities, while expanding the theoretical contribution by positioning green infrastructure as a crucial asset for destination competitiveness.

Abstract

Employee performance is a key factor in determining organizational effectiveness and productivity. Organizational factors such as the work environment and leadership style are widely recognized as influencing employee performance, both directly and indirectly through psychological mechanisms such as work motivation. This study aims to analyze the effects of the work environment and leadership style on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable, at Bina Bangun Perkasa Kediri Company. This research employs a quantitative causal approach using saturated sampling involving all 34 permanent employees as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modelling with SmartPLS 4. The results show that the work environment does not significantly affect employee performance or work motivation. Leadership style does not directly influence employee performance but significantly affects work motivation, which in turn significantly improves employee performance. Mediation analysis indicates that work motivation mediates the relationship between leadership style and employee performance, but not between the work environment and employee performance. These findings differ from previous studies that generally report a significant influence of the work environment on employee performance through motivation.

Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises are increasingly required to adapt to customers' tech-savviness and foster strong collaborative alliances with business partners to sustain effective marketing outcomes. This investigation seeks to explore the impact of customer technological savviness, collaborative efforts with business partners, innovation in business models, and effective marketing strategies. Furthermore, it examines the mediating role of business model innovation in the relationship between external influencers and marketing outcomes. A quantitative research design was adopted, employing partial least squares structural equation modeling to analyze data gathered from 187 small and medium-sized enterprises in the Indonesian food and beverage industry, selected through purposive sampling. Marketing performance is driven by customers' tech-savviness and business model innovation, but not by business partners. Furthermore, both customer tech-savviness and business partners drive business model innovation. Business model innovation bridges the gap, allowing both customers' tech-savviness and business partners to drive marketing performance. These findings underscore the pivotal mediating role of business model innovation as a strategic mechanism that translates digital readiness and partnership strength into superior marketing outcomes. This study contributes to the literature on the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises by providing empirical evidence of the mediating role of business model innovation in emerging markets. It expands upon current research by framing customer tech savviness and collaboration with business partners as essential external facilitators of innovation-driven marketing performance. The findings have practical implications for managers seeking to capitalize on digital customer capabilities and collaborative networks to achieve sustainable competitive advantages.

Abstract

Public sector organizations are required to continuously adapt to organizational changes and improve employee performance to deliver effective public services. In this context, leadership and workplace conditions have an important role in encouraging innovative behavior and improving employee performance. This study examines the effects of transformational leadership, work environment, and job stress on championing behavior and employee performance in the public sector. The research was conducted at the Regional Secretariat of Pemalang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, using a quantitative approach. This study uses a census approach, in which all members of the population are included. Data were collected from 150 civil servants and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results indicate that transformational leadership positively affects championing behavior and employee performance. In addition, the work environment positively influences championing behavior and employee performance. However, job stress has a negative effect on championing behavior and an insignificant effect on employee performance. These findings suggest that effective transformational leadership and a supportive work environment play crucial roles in fostering innovative behavior and enhancing employee performance in public-sector organizations. This study contributes to the literature by integrating leadership, environmental, and psychological factors to explain championing behavior in a government context. The implications highlight the importance of public sector managers strengthening transformational leadership practices and creating conducive work environments to improve organizational outcomes.

Abstract

Critical problems in public sector organizations have arisen due to burnout, driven by limited organizational resources, increasing workloads, and higher performance demands. This study examines the relationship between workload, social support, and burnout, with a focus on the mediating role of work-life balance among Indonesian government employees. A quantitative method was used to collect data through census sampling, involving 235 civil servants at the Central Statistics Agency in Bengkulu, Indonesia. Partial least squares structural equation modeling in SmartPLS was used to analyze the data. The findings reveal two distinct mechanisms leading to burnout. Workload was identified as the primary job demand that significantly increases burnout, both directly and indirectly through reduced work-life balance. In contrast, social support serves as a resource for employment, directly reducing burnout without the mediation of work-life balance. Furthermore, workload negatively affects work-life balance, whereas social support positively influences it. Nevertheless, work-life balance serves only as a mediating variable in the workload–burnout relationship and does not act as a moderator in the social support–burnout relationship. These results empirically support social exchange theory and the job demands–resources model by showing that job resources do not all function through identical mechanisms. In practice, this study suggests that public sector organizations should prioritize strengthening workplace social support and improving workload management to enhance employee well-being and sustainably reduce burnout.

Abstract

Architecture and engineering consultancies depend on specialized expertise and durable client relationships. When dissatisfied professionals leave, firms risk losing tacit design knowledge and client-specific insights that are difficult to replace. In project-based professional service work, these retention risks make job satisfaction a strategically important outcome. The present study investigates the relationships among the physical work environment, job design, transformational leadership, and job satisfaction. It tests whether transformational leadership amplifies the satisfaction-relevant effects of both work conditions and task design features. Data were collected from 174 matched professionals using a two-wave time-lagged census survey with a four-week interval. Hypothesis testing employed variance-based structural equation modeling in SmartPLS, with statistical inference based on 5.000 bootstrap iterations. The results show that physical work environment, job design, and transformational leadership were positively associated with job satisfaction, with job design showing the strongest direct effect. Transformational leadership also strengthened the positive effects of physical work environment and job design on job satisfaction, although these interaction effects were modest in magnitude. The full model accounted for 55.7 percent of the variance in the outcome construct, indicating substantial explanatory coverage. These findings indicate that job satisfaction in project-based consultancy work depends not only on work conditions and task design but also on leadership quality, suggesting that retention can be supported through coordinated improvements in job design, physical work conditions, and leadership capability.

Abstract

To measure the intensity of tourist behavior, tourist attractions, infrastructure, and local cuisine as initial stimuli influencing tourist satisfaction and the final decision to revisit. Lampung, Indonesia, located at the southern gateway of Sumatera, has strong tourism potential supported by diverse natural attractions, cultural heritage, and local wisdom. This study examines the influence of tourist attractions, infrastructure, and local cuisine on tourists’ intention to revisit, with tourist satisfaction as a mediating variable. A quantitative causal-associative design was applied, involving 150 domestic tourists selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using structural equation model-partial least square. The results show that tourist attractions, infrastructure, and local cuisines significantly affect revisit intention. Tourist satisfaction also has a significant positive effect and mediates the relationships between destination attributes and revisit intention. These findings indicate that positive destination experiences enhance satisfaction, which in turn strengthens the intention to revisit. The study contributes to the tourism literature by confirming the mediating role of tourist satisfaction in the relationship between destination attributes and behavioral intentions. Practically, stakeholders should improve attractions, infrastructure, and culinary experiences to enhance satisfaction and support sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

Customer orientation is widely regarded as a key driver of firm performance. This study examines how customer orientation, selling creativity, and proactive service behavior affect sales performance by delivering experiential value. This was examined by embedding customer experience within the experiential value that salespeople deliver in the cosmetics industry in developing countries. While traditional frameworks focus on passive customer experience management or static service quality, experiential value delivered introduces a novel behavioral construct. It captures the salesperson's active role in co-creating and operationalizing value in real-time interactions, shifting the focus from organizational systems to dyadic frontline behaviors. Data were collected from 210 salespeople in the Indonesian cosmetics industry and analyzed using a structural equation model in AMOS 25. The results showed that cosmetics companies that adopted a customer-oriented approach and delivered experiential value enhanced sales performance. Experiential value delivery also mediated the relationship between customer orientation and sales performance. Grounded in the service-dominant logic framework, experiential value delivered serves as a crucial behavioral catalyst for value co-creation. This study contributes to the service-dominant logic literature by providing a concrete behavioral mechanism that links a firm's strategic customer orientation to frontline sales performance.
