Abstract

The acceleration of educational digitalization over the past decade has significantly transformed Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, comprehensive mapping of global research trends on educational technology within the context of PAI remains limited. This study aims to analyze publication trends, collaboration patterns, author productivity, journal distribution, influential articles, and thematic dynamics of technology-related research in PAI from 2015 to 2025. A bibliometric approach was employed using Scopus-indexed data, resulting in 262 articles selected through the PRISMA protocol. Data were analyzed using the Bibliometrix-Biblioshiny (R) package, including performance analysis, co-authorship networks, co-citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic mapping. The findings reveal a significant increase in publications, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic, with Indonesia emerging as the leading contributor within the global collaboration network. Dominant themes include educational technology, Islamic education, digital literacy, and e-learning integration, primarily classified as motor themes and basic themes. The collaboration structure demonstrates a semi-centralized network with Indonesia acting as the main hub. The study concludes that research on technology in PAI is increasingly interdisciplinary, integrating pedagogical, digital, and spiritual dimensions. The findings contribute a comprehensive global literature map and conceptual foundation to support inclusive and sustainable digital innovation and policy development in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic Religious Education (IRE/PAI) with a focus on three interrelated dimensions: pedagogical opportunities, the risk of cognitive debt, and implications for the collective consciousness of the Muslim community. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA protocol, this research analyzed literature retrieved from six reputable databases Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, DOAJ, Dimensions, and Google Scholar covering publications from 2013 to 2025. From an initial pool of 122 articles, 39 relevant studies were selected through a staged screening process, with ten Scopus-indexed articles designated as core primary studies. Thematic analysis identified five major clusters: pedagogical utility, algorithmic limitations, cognitive debt, affective deficits, and ethical-collective consciousness frameworks. Findings confirm that while AI enhances instructional efficiency and accessibility particularly in Qur'anic learning and institutional management uncontrolled usage generates cognitive debt, weakens reflective capacity, and creates affective deficits that undermine the teacher's irreplaceable role as murabbi. This study concludes that AI integration in IRE must be grounded in an ethical framework derived from Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah, particularly the principles of Hifz al-Aql and Hifz al-Din, to safeguard intellectual integrity and strengthen Muslim collective consciousness in the digital era,

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the revitalization of religious culture as a strategy for character building among students at MA Mambaul Ulum Paiton in facing the challenges of the Society 5.0 era. The focus of the research is directed at how religious values are internalized within school life, the role of educational actors in this process, and its impact on shaping students’ attitudes and behavior. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies involving the principal, teachers, homeroom teachers, and students as the main informants. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the revitalization of religious culture plays a significant role in shaping students’ character through the integration of religious values into learning activities and daily school life. Religious culture functions not merely as a normative symbol but develops into a value system that fosters students’ discipline, responsibility, and moral awareness. The success of this process is supported by the exemplary conduct of school actors, consistency in habituation practices, and adaptation to technological developments without abandoning religious values. These findings imply that strengthening students’ character in the Society 5.0 era requires a holistic approach that integrates religious culture with social and technological dynamics. This study is expected to serve as a reference for educational institutions in designing contextual and sustainable character-building strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of using Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in grade IV at SDN 3 Gondosari, as well as how IFP can enhance students' learning motivation. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving interviews with teachers, the headmaster, and students, as well as classroom observations. The findings indicate that the use of IFP has a positive impact on presenting learning materials in a more engaging and interactive manner, contributing to an increase in student motivation. Features of IFP such as PowerPoint, videos, and interactive applications like Wordwall and Ruang Murid enable students to be more actively involved in learning. The use of educational games and IFP-based evaluations creates an enjoyable learning atmosphere and supports student collaboration. Additionally, students' learning motivation showed significant improvement, especially in terms of involvement, attention, and active participation. However, several obstacles were identified, such as limited IFP devices and unstable internet connections. This study suggests improving infrastructure and enhancing teacher training in IFP usage to fully maximize the benefits of technology in education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of instilling values of tolerance and positive social behavior in elementary school students amid cultural diversity. The use of interactive visual learning media is necessary to help students in the concrete operational phase understand these abstract concepts. This study aims to examine the effect of the Light-Up Map Media on students' social behavior, both directly and through Diversity Awareness Score as a mediating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach. The research subjects are all 54 fifth-grade students at SDN Kedungdalem II. Data collection techniques use a Likert scale questionnaire. Data are analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS)-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques with the help of SmartPLS 4 software.The results show that the Light-Up Map Media does not have a significant direct effect on students' social behavior. However, this media has a significant effect on diversity awareness, which in turn affects students' social behavior. This proves that diversity awareness acts as a full mediator. These findings conclude that the effectiveness of learning media in changing students' social behavior is highly dependent on the success of the process of internalizing the value of diversity awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Clash of Champions game as an evaluation method in Islamic Religious Education learning on the topic of Indonesian ulama. This research used a quantitative approach with an experimental method employing a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consisted of 27 students of class XI-G at SMA Negeri 74 Jakarta. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, N-Gain tests, and paired sample t-tests with the assistance of IBM SPSS software. The results showed that the average pretest score was 52.22 while the average posttest score increased to 75.74. The N-Gain value obtained was 0.51 which falls into the moderately effective category. The paired sample t-test analysis showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. These findings indicate that the Clash of Champions game is effective as an alternative evaluation method to improve students’ learning outcomes and engagement in Islamic Religious Education learning.

Abstract

This study addresses the application of the Play-Based Learning (PBL) method as an innovative strategy to foster character and independence in students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Mun'im Probolinggo. The main objective of this study is to describe the implementation of PBL and identify its impact on the development of character values ​​such as cooperation, honesty, discipline, and empathy. The method used is a qualitative case study approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with teachers, students, and parents, as well as participant observation and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PBL through six systematic stages ranging from goal planning to reflection and appreciation has proven effective in transforming the role of teachers into educational facilitators capable of creating a safe and supportive learning ecosystem. A significant impact is seen in increasing students' self-confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities that grow from intrinsic awareness, not just extrinsic compliance. The contribution of this study provides a theoretical and practical framework for the development of Islamic education in integrating Islamic values ​​and local wisdom into modern, adaptive learning methods. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for other primary education institutions to reform their character education strategies to be more dynamic, inclusive, and relevant.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the contribution of teacher internship programs and self-improvement efforts to the formation of superior educators and increasing professionalism within the Center of Excellence (CoE) Vocational School environment. The research method used is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used were participatory observation, interviews with teachers who had participated in the teacher internship program, and analysis of documents related to program implementation. The research results show that teacher internship programs and self-improvement efforts significantly increase teaching competence, understanding of the latest curriculum, and teacher managerial skills in transferring knowledge in the classroom through more structured learning practices, teachers who are straightforward in delivering material, and sharing experiences with another teacher related to internships. Recommendations from this research involve increasing collaboration between educational institutions and industry, providing stronger support from the government and schools for teacher self-improvement efforts, as well as developing teacher internship programs that are more structured and results-oriented to form students who are ready to enter the world of work. in line with industry expectations. To achieve this, teachers are needed whose competencies are expected to be in line with industry needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dormitory-based madrasah policy at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Purworejo and its influence on the formation of student character. This research is motivated by the importance of integrated character education in the daily lives of students in a dormitory-based madrasah environment, especially in facing the challenges of the younger generation such as the influence of outside culture and various social problems. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained through observation, interviews with madrasah managers, teachers, and students, and analysis of relevant policy documents. The results of the study show that the implementation of the dormitory-based madrasah policy at MAN Purworejo is carried out through worship habituation, discipline activities, supervision of students' daily activities, and the integration of character values in the learning process. Field findings show that the policy contributes to increasing student discipline, responsibility, independence, and compliance with madrasah rules. However, its implementation still faces obstacles in the form of limited dormitory facilities and suboptimal parental involvement in supporting student character education. The conclusion of this study shows that the dormitory-based madrasah policy at MAN Purworejo plays a role in supporting the formation of students' character through supervision and integrated coaching in daily life in the madrasah environment.
