Abstract

Mathematicts is an important subject at Elementary Schools. Preliminary observation at many Elemmentary School indicated that student’s mathematic achievement was not satisfactory. The student’s understanding of number operations was olso low. One of many ways to improve the student’s activities and mathematic achievement is through the use of block Dienes in teaching number operations.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is the influence of logical-mathematical intelligence on the learning outcomes of class VII students of Padangsidimpuan MTsN 2? The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of logical-mathematical intelligence on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of Padangsidimpuan 2 MTsN.This research includes the type of quantitative research using the Ex Post Facto method. The population in this study were VII grade students of MtsN 2 Padangsidimpuan which numbered 211 students while the sample was all students who took the test of Logical-Mathematical Intelligence which amounted to 211 people. The data collection method used is a test with data analysis techniques namely t test.The results showed that: There was a significant influence between logical-mathematical intelligence and the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of Padangsidimpuan MTsN 2 as evidenced by the results of the t test of 17.137 greater than the t table of 1.98 (17.137 1.98) which means there are differences in learning outcomes of students who have high logical-mathematical intelligence with students who have low logical-mathematical intelligence. So that it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between Logical-Mathematical intelligence variables and mathematics learning outcomes where students who have high logical-mathematical intelligence, the learning outcomes are high and vice versa.

Abstract

This study was based on the advantages that faced by the Industrial Engineering Study Programme Students when follow lecture in Mathematical field. This study was a quasi research with using the one group retest-postest design. This study aims to analyze the gain of students’ combinatoric thinking ability through cooperative learning model type Jigsaw in Differential Application topic at Calculus course. The research sample are 30 students of Industrial Engineering Study Programme. The independent variable in this study was combinatoric thinking ability, while the dependent variable was cooperative learning model type Jigsaw. This study used the combinatoric thinking ability test instrument that has testet about its validity, reability, the difficulty level and the differentiator power. The research result showed that there was a gain of student’s combinatoric thinking ability through cooperative learning model type Jigsaw with n-gain value is 0.56 point and on medium level. The number of students who has combinatoric thinking ability was increased from 6 people to 14 people. The lecturer and the student’s activities have followed the rule of cooperative learning model type Jigsaw as well therefore it can improve student’s combinatoric thinking ability.

Abstract

Upaya dalam meningkatkan minat baca kepada anak harus dimulai pada ruanglingkup keluarga, agar anak terbiasa membaca sampai dia dewasa nanti. Minat membaca berpengaruh besar terhadap kesuksesan anak sehingga perlu ditumbuhkan sejak dini. Orang tua harus membiasakan dan mengarahkan anaknya secara teratur untuk banyak membaca untuk dirinya sendiri, maka dalam diri anak akan tumbuh kebiasaan menjadi pembaca dini yang memiliki minat baca alamiah. Untuk itu minat baca ini perlu ditumbuhkan kepada anak-anak sejak usia dini.Masa anak merupakan waktu yang tepat untuk menumbuhkan kebiasaan. Keefektifan tersebut dimulai dengan memperkenalkan huruf, belajar mengeja kata dan kemudian belajar memaknai kata-kata dalam suatu kalimat yang memiliki arti. Setelah anak-anak memiliki kemampuan membaca, perlu dilanjutkan dengan memberikan bahan bacaan yang menarik dan representatif terhadap perkembangan anak. Bahan bacaan yang menarik dapat menggugah minat anak untuk membaca buku, sehingga akan membentuk kebiasaan membaca. Jika kebiasaan membaca sudah tertanam pada diri anak, maka setelah dewasa akan menjadi suatu kebutuhan dalam hidup mereka. Sehingga kebiasaan individu yang dilakukan secara terus menerus dan turun temurun akan dapat menciptakan budaya membaca di kalangan masyarakat

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of learner’s performance in mathematics learning process, especially class III’s students of SDN 200 306 Batunadua Padangsidimpuan. The purpose of this study was to find out how the performance of learners with a realistic mathematics education approaches. This research is a descriptive study. Based on data analysis found that the performance of learners that includes confidence, reasoning, activity, creativity, and motivation of learners very well after applying realistic mathematics education approach.

Abstract

Decision problems of stochastic or probabilistic optimization arise when certain coefficient of an optimization model are not fixed or known but are instead, to some extent, stochastic (or random or probabilistic) quantities. This paper focused on multi objective stochastic optimization. We propose a method for solving a multi objective chance constraints integer programming problem based on interactive approach. We assume that there is randomness in the right-hand sides of the constraints only and that the random variables are normally distributed.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this research is the difficulties of students in studying and understanding the concept of two-variable linear equation system (SPLDV) in class VII SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. From the above background, this study aims to determine the level of difficulty of students to understanding the concept of two-variable linear equation system, to know the factors that cause student learning difficulties and how the teachar’s efforts overcome the student’s learning difficulties.This research is a qualitative research. The sources of this research are students and teachers of VII mathematics class at SMP Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. Then the instrument in this  research is observation, interview and test.Base on the result of the study of mathematics learning difficulties to the understanding of the concept of two-variable linear equation system (SPLDV) is that students do not understand the concept of algebra calculation, in other words the students still do not understand the counting operation on the algebra. Carelessness done by students in answering the matter of system linear equations of two variables, it is because students rush or see other students wrong. Error principle of operation count on system of linear equation of two variable often happened done student especially student not pay attention to sign of negative and positive. Factors causing student learning difficulties are caused by two external and internal factors of students. The dominant factor that cause the difficulties of learning the students is the motivation of students who are less in learning mathematics. While the efforts made by mathematics teachers in overcoming the difficulties of students is to focus more on the understanding of the concepts in learning mathematics, especially on SPLDV, member motivation to students and give special attention to students who have difficulty in learning the system of two linear equations

Abstract

The purpose of this study  is to investigate and to describe the gain of students’ mathematical understanding ability through mathematics teaching and learning by using dynamic geometry software, Geogebra. This study uses a not equivalent control group design, that is control group and experiment group. Direct instruction is implemented in control group otherwise mathematics teaching and learning with using Geogebra is implemented in experiment group. The population of this study are allof junior high school students, the subject are two groups of seventh grade students and the object is studentss’ mathematical understanding ability. The sample is choosed with using purposive sample technique. This study use mathematical understanding ability test that analysed quantitatively into post-test and normalized gain of students’ mathematical understanding ability between the two groups. The analyse of the data result will answer the hypothesis, students’ understandingability who has studied and learntwith using Geogebra is better than students in direct instruction class.

Abstract

This study aims to describe errors made by students in solving mathematical problems in the pythagorean theorem material. This research is a descriptive study with the object of research is class VIII-3 of Junior High School (Padangsidimpuan Middle School-7) T.A 2018/2019 which amounted to 21 students with heterogeneous levels of ability. The instrument collects data using essay tests. Data analysis is done by reducing data in the form of paragraphs and images, then drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the common mistakes made by students in this study were more on type-1 errors, namely understanding the concept of errors, followed by type-3 errors, namely units of measurement of writing errors, then followed by type-2. error which is a calculation error, and type-4 error is a mathematical procedure error.

Abstract

Based on the results of the research of the questionnaire score of students learning motivation mathematics then obtained an average of 76 with standard deviation 4.50 in the experimental class applied SAVI approach and average 65 with standard deviation 4.38 on the control class applied Variation Teaching Stimulus. Normality test in experimental class L0 = 0,1296 and Ltabel = 0,1730 then L0 Ltabel (0,1296 0,1730) and at control class L0 = 0,1220 and Ltabel = 0,1730 then L0 Ltabel (0 , 1220 0.1730) so it can be concluded that student questionnaires of both classes are normally distributed. And homogeneity test results obtained Fhitung Ftabel that is (1.073 1.87). Seen from hypothesis test, the data of questionnaire motivation to learn mathematics thitung ttabel (9,13 1,674) which H1 accepted which mean there is difference of motivation learn mathematics between SAVI approach with Variation Teaching Stimulus in cube in class VIII student of SMP Negeri 1 Padang year lessons 2015-2016. The results of observations in the experimental class applied SAVI approach obtained an average of 31.81 with a percentage of 79.52% in both categorize and in the experimental class applied Variations Teaching Stimulus obtained an average of 27.4 with percentage 68, 5% is adequately.
