Abstract

The purpose of this study are to investigate and to describe the gain of students? spatial ability through Geometry teaching and learning by using a dynamic geometry software, Cabri 3D. This study was a quasi experimental research with not equivalent control group design. Direct instruction was implemented in control group otherwise Geometry teaching and learning with using Cabri 3D was implemented in experimental group. The population of this study are all of the eight grade of junior high school students in one of the SMP Negeri in Padangsidimpuan City. The sample of this study were two groups of eighth grade. The sample has been choosed with using purposif sample technique. The instruments of this study were spatial ability test, quationere, observation sheet and interview. The test was analysed quantitatively and non test was analyzed qualitatively in order to answer the  the hypotesa, the gain of students? spatial ability who has studied and lerant with using Cabri 3D is better than direct instruction.

Abstract

  Abstrak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan 3 siklus sebagai kolaborasi penelitian antara dosen pendidikan matematika dengan guru matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menelaah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berbasis Algebrator untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Pelenitian ini dilaksanakan pada salah satu sekolah menengah pertama dimana 215 orang siswa kelas delapan sebagai populasi, dan 21 orang siswa sebagai sampel penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan 8 buah instrumen baik tes maupun non-tes yang terlebih dahulu diuji coba validitasnya, yaitu: tes hasil belajar siswa I dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,80 (tinggi), tes hasil belajar siswa II dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,76 (tinggi), tes hasil belajar siswa III dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,81 (tinggi), skala aktivitas belajar siswa I dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,844 (sangat tinggi), skala aktivitas belajar siswa II dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,784 (tinggi), skala aktivitas belajar siswa III dengan nilai reliabilitas 0,878 (sangat tinggi), lembar observasi dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada siklus pertama adalah 65,62 (2) rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada siklus kedua adalah 71,53 (3) rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada siklus ketiga adalah 76 (4) rata-rata aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus pertama adalah 41,29% (5) rata-rata aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus kedua adalah 50,71% (6) rata-rata aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus ketiga adalah 65,24% (7) lembar observasi dan wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa merasa senang dan tertarik terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berbasis Algebrator. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw berbasis Algebrator dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. The purpose of this study was investigated cooperative learning model type jigsaw based on Algebrator to improve students activity and learning outcomes in mathematics learning. This study was implemented in one of the junior high school which 215 students of eighth grade as the population and 21 students as research sample. This study used 8 instruments not only test but also non-test that checked the validity first, that are: students learning outcomes test I with reability score at 0.80 (high), students learning outcomes test II with reability score at 0.76 (high), students learning outcomes test III with reability score at 0.81 (high), students learning activity scale I with reability score at 0.844 (very high), students learning activity scale II with reability score at 0.784 (high), students learning activity scale III with reability score at 0.878 (very high), observation sheet and interview. Based on the analysis of the data result, the finding of this study are: (1) the average of students’ learning outcomes at the first cycle is 65.62, (2) the average of students’ learning outcomes at the second cycle is 71.53, (3) the average of students’ learning outcomes at the third cycle is 76 (4) the average of students’ learning activity at the first cycle is 41.29%, (5) the average of students’ learning activity at the second cycle is 50.71%, (6) the average of students’ learning activity at the third cycle is 65.24% (7) observation and interview result indicate that students enjoyed and interested in mathematics learning using cooperative learning model type jigsaw based on Algebrator. The conclution is cooperative learning model type jigsaw based on Algebrator can improve students’ activity and learning outcomes in mathematics learning. Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan suatu media pembelajaran berbasis Prezi yang valid, praktis dan efektif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model 4-D yang terdiri atas 4 tahap, yaitu: 1) pendefinisian, 2) perancangan, 3) pengembangan, dan 4) penyebaran. Media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini adalah suatu alat presentasi digital berbasis Prezi pada materi Geometri bagi mahasiswa kelas 4B jurusan Tadris Matematika IAIN Kerinci Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Media pembelajaran berbasis Prezi ini terlebih dahulu diperiksa validitasnya untuk kemudian diujicobakan dan diimplementasikan pada proses perkuliahan di dalam kelas. Validasi dilakukan oleh ahli pendidikan matematika, pendidikan dasar dan bahasa. Kepraktisan media pembelajaran diselidiki dengan cara mengamati pelaksanaan perkuliahan, pengisian angket praktikalitas oleh mahasiswa, serta wawancara kepada mahasiswa. Keefektifan media pembelajaran diselidiki dengan cara mengamati aktivitas dan hasil belajar mahasiswa. Seluruh data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: 1) media pembelajaran berbasis Prezi sudah valid berdasarkan segi konstruk dan isinya; 2) media pembelajaran berbasis Prezi juga sudah dapat dikatakan praktis berdasarkan pelaksanaan perkuliahan; dan 3) media pembelajaran berbasis Prezi sudah efektif terhadap aktivitas dan hasil belajar mahasiswa. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba dan implementasi media serta hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis Prezi sudah valid, praktis dan efektif.

Abstract

Abstrak. Rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Kerinci,  menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Hal ini, terlihat dari hasil tes, observasi, dan wawancara.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep  matematis siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Kerinci. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen, teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu random sampling diperoleh kelas eksperimen VII C dan kelas kontrol VII A. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes  kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis guna melihat kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Distribusi data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini tidak normal sehingga analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji Mann Whitney U dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai Sig. = 0,005  yaitu 0,05 sehingga H0 ditolak, artinya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) lebih baik dari pada pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran konvensional.Kata Kunci: Problem Based Instruction: PBI, kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keadaan disposisi berpikir kritis siswa, faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi disposisi berpikir kritis siswa serta solusi untuk meningkatkan disposisi berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika di kelas XI IPS pada salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas di Kota Sungai Penuh Provinsi Jambi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian lapangan pada siswa Jurusan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS). Secara ontologi, terdapat dugaan bahwa siswa IPS memiliki tingkat disposisi (sikap positif) yang rendah terhadap mata pelajaran Matematika. Sementara itu secara epistemologi, disposisi berpikir kritis matematis siswa IPS sangat berguna pada kehidupan sehari-hari. Objek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa Kelas IX IPS 1 SMA Negeri 5 Sungai Penuh yang berjumlah 23 orang dengan 1 orang Guru Matematika sebagai informan penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan Angket (Kuesioner) Disposisi Berpikir Kritis, Pedoman Wawancara untuk Guru dan Siswa serta Lembar Observasi Aktivitas Guru dan Siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh bahwa: 1) terdapat 5 orang siswa (22%) memiliki disposisi berpikir kritis yang tinggi; 2) terdapat 13 orang siswa (56%) memiliki disposisi berpikir kritis yang sedang; dan 3) terdapat 5 orang siswa (22%) memiliki disposisi berpikir kritis yang rendah. Rendahnya disposisi berpikir kritis siswa IPS dapat ditanggulangi dengan memberikan strategi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa IPS dalam pembelajaran matematika serta diklat peningkatan kompetensi guru seperti PKB dan PKP. Kata Kunci : disposisi, berpikir kritis, kualitatif, deskriptif, siswa IPS, ontologi, epistemologi ABSTRACT This study aim to analyze the condition of students’ critical thinking disposition, all factors that affect students’ critical thinking disposition, and the solution to improve students’ critical thinking disposition in mathematics learning at XI IPS grade in one of the senior high school in Sungai Penuh City, Jambi Province. This study is a qualitative research using descriptive approach with field research type on Social (IPS) Major Students. Ontologically, there is a notion that IPS students has a lower disposition (positive attitude) through Mathematics subject. Otherwise, epistemologically, students’ critical thinking disposition on IPS students is usefull in their daily life. The object of this study is all of XI IPS 1 state senior high school (SMA) 5 students that contain 23 students with 1 mathematics teacher as the research informer. This study use critical thinking disposition quationnaire, interview guidelines for teacher and students then observation sheet for teacher and student’s activity. According to the data analysis result, obtain that: 1) there are 5 students (22%) has higher critical thinking disposition; 2) there are 13 students (56%) has medium critical thinking disposition; and 3) there are 5 students (22%) has lower critical thinking disposition. The lowerness of IPS students’ critical thinking disposition can be solved by applicate learning strategies that can improve IPS students’ critical thinking disposition in learning mathematics and a training to improve teacher competence like PKB dan PKP. Abstract

This article was a qualitative research type grounded theory. The purpose of this study is to analyse mathematics disposition through vocational high students in order to understand students’ disposition on mathematics deeply. This study belongs to post positivism paradigm research. According to ontological side, the reality about students’ mathematics disposition is actually appear on students but not or have not been understood before, it just predictable. Otherwise, according to epistemological side, the prediction about mathematics disposition is needed to be more understood. That’s way qualitative research is needed to overcome students’ negative mathematics disposition. Researcher as the instrument analyse students’ mathematics wisely with using triangulation of the data. This study was implemented in one of the vocational high school in Bandung, west java. The subject of this study is 27 students of XI grade at SMKF Bumi Sliwangi. Based on analysis of the data, the finding is obtained in this study are: (1) SMKF Bumsil has a complete facilities with fresh air and a clean environment, (2) mathematics studying and learning process in the classroom is very optimal and conducive so that it can give a positive attitude in students’ mathematics disposition, (3) based on result of quationaire data, there are 21 students (78%) have a positive attitude in mathematics disposition, although there are 6 students (22%) have a negative attitude in mathematics disposition. We can conclude that most of students of  XI grade at SMKF Bumsil have a positive attitude in mathematics disposition.

Abstract

The purpose of this study  is to investigate and to describe the gain of students’ mathematical understanding ability through mathematics teaching and learning by using dynamic geometry software, Geogebra. This study uses a not equivalent control group design, that is control group and experiment group. Direct instruction is implemented in control group otherwise mathematics teaching and learning with using Geogebra is implemented in experiment group. The population of this study are allof junior high school students, the subject are two groups of seventh grade students and the object is studentss’ mathematical understanding ability. The sample is choosed with using purposive sample technique. This study use mathematical understanding ability test that analysed quantitatively into post-test and normalized gain of students’ mathematical understanding ability between the two groups. The analyse of the data result will answer the hypothesis, students’ understandingability who has studied and learntwith using Geogebra is better than students in direct instruction class.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the interaction between improving students’ creative thinking ability toward the learning approach that is the End-Ended Approach and Conventional Learning and Mathematical Early Skills (KAM) of the students. The research was conducted in one of State Junior High School with population of all students of class VIII. Two classes were selected from the population as a sample of the research using purposive sampling technique. Conventional Learning is implemented in the control class and the Open-Ended approach is implemented in the experimental class. This research uses the instrument of creative thinking ability test to see the improvement of students’ creative thinking ability. The data processing of students’ creative thinking ability based on mathematical early ability (KAM) is done by using two–way ANOVA test at 5% significance level (α = 0,05). followed by Post Hoc LSD test. Based on data analysis result, it is obtained: (1) there is a difference  of improvement of creative thinking ability between students who gain learning by using Open-Ended approach with  students who abtained Conventional Learning from the Mathematicsl Beginning Skill (KAM) of students; (2) there is no interaction between the learning approaches (Open-Ended and Conventional) and students’ Mathematical Abilities (high, medium, and low) towards improving students’ creative thinking ability; (3) students show positive attitudes toward the Open Ended approach. This study  is a learning factor and theoretical ability of the students does not provide the same effect on the students’ creative thinking ability.

Abstract

This study used quantitative approach with experiment method. The research design was posttest-only control group. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cooperative learning model type Student Facilitator and Eksplaining (SFE) with poster media through students’ mathematical representation ability. The population was all of seventh grade students in SMPN 7 Sungai Penuh. Two sample were choosen withdraw. Conventional method was implemented in control group, while cooperative learning model type Student Facilitator and Eksplaining (SFE) with poster media was implemented in experiment group. The instrument in this study was students’ mathematical representation ability test that the test items was analyzed first. The instrument was given in the end of learning process in both groups. The result of the data analysis was obtained that: (1) the average of students’ mathematical representation ability test in control group was 66,67 while in experiment group was 73,43; (2) the students’ mathematical representation ability who study under cooperative learning model type Student Facilitator and Eksplaining (SFE) with poster media was higher than who study under conventional method; (3) there was an effect of cooperative learning model type Student Facilitator and Eksplaining (SFE) with poster media through the students’ mathematical representation ability.

Abstract

This research was started by the lowerness of students’ mathematical reasoning ability at VII grade of SMPN 1 Kerinci. That’s obtained from the student’s semester examination result then according to the experience, observation and interview results with the junior high school mathematic teachers. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of Problem Based Instruction (PBI) Model through student’s reasioning ability at VII grade of SMPN 1 Kerinci. This research is using quasy experiment method with Randomized Group Control Only Design. The population is all of seventh grade students in SMPN 1 Kerinci. This research is using Random Sampling Technique that students at VII-C grade as experimental group and VII-A grade as control group. The research instruments in this study is mathematical reasoning ability test to obtain students mathematical reasoning ability. The data is not have normal distribution so that we used Mann Whitney-U test with SPSS helped, obtained Sig (1-tailed). value = 0,000 α = 0,05 so that rejected H0. According to the analyzed of the data, the conclusion obtained that student’s mathematical reasoning ability who learn with using PBI Model is better than using conventional learning.
