Abstract

This study investigates the barriers to English competence among publishing students at higher education institutions in Jakarta and explores the challenges these barriers pose for their academic and professional success. Despite the growing importance of English proficiency in the publishing industry and global academic communication, many students continue to struggle with language-related issues that hinder their learning outcomes and future career prospects. Through a mixed-method approach involving surveys and interviews with students and lecturers, the research identifies key obstacles such as limited exposure to English in daily academic contexts, lack of confidence in using English productively, and gaps in curriculum alignment with industry demands. The findings suggest that these barriers contribute to reduced engagement in English-based learning materials, limited participation in international publishing opportunities, and decreased competitiveness in the job market. The study concludes with recommendations for institutions to enhance English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction, integrate more authentic publishing-related English tasks, and foster an immersive language environment to better equip students for the global publishing landscape

Abstract

The increasing interest of the younger generation in the event industry, along with the growth of this sector in Indonesia, has encouraged universities and non-formal institutions to provide more structured learning opportunities. One alternative is the educational campaign #BelajarBarengDyandra conducted on Instagram @dyandraacademy, which introduces knowledge about event management in a practical way. The purpose of this study is to find out how followers perceive the campaign as a learning medium. The research uses Stuart Hall’s reception analysis model, which divides audience interpretation into dominant, negotiated, and oppositional positions. A qualitative descriptive method was employed through in-depth interviews with eight participants aged 18–25 years, supported by triangulated information from campaign organizers. The results show that most informants fall into the negotiated position, while a smaller number are in the dominant position. The conclusion indicates that #BelajarBarengDyandra functions as an initial learning platform about event management, although it cannot fully replace direct or formal learning.

Abstract

In order to create the radio feature program "Suara dari Tanah Jauh," this study examines the critical role that the producer plays in putting methodical production phases into place. The show tells the stories of Indonesian students who study overseas and how they adjust to different cultural settings. Data were gathered through literature research, online questionnaires using Google Forms, and listening to similar radio shows using a qualitative descriptive methodology. According to the study, the producer serves as the primary coordinator, making ensuring that all phases—from pre-production to production to post-production—run smoothly and in unison. To create an educational, poignant, and creative broadcast, the producer combines conceptual, artistic, technical, and management components. Additionally, it was discovered that the methodical use of production stages improved overall, maximized scheduling and budgeting, and fostered creative collaboration.

Abstract

Film adalah sarana komunikasi berbasis visual yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan realitas sosial serta menyampaikan pesan melalui susunan adegan, tokoh, dan simbol-simbol di dalamnya. Dalam perkembangannya, film di Indonesia semakin sering mengangkat isu sensitif seperti seksualitas dan relasi kekuasaan, termasuk di lingkungan religius yang biasanya dianggap tabu untuk dibahas. Film Wahyu (2024) menghadirkan narasi yang menampilkan bagaimana penyimpangan seksualitas dan relasi kuasa dapat terjadi di pesantren, sehingga penting untuk dikaji sebagai bentuk representasi sosial dalam media. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana seksualitas dan relasi kuasa direpresentasikan dalam film tersebut, serta untuk melihat bagaimana respons penonton terhadap penggambaran isu tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis adegan film dan teori semiotika Roland Barthes untuk menafsirkan makna melalui level denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Wahyu (2024) merepresentasikan penyimpangan seksualitas dan relasi kuasa melalui simbol-simbol visual yang menggambarkan ketidaksetaraan posisi antara pelaku dan korban. Selain itu, respons penonton terhadap film ini terbagi menjadi dua: sebagian mengapresiasi keberanian film dalam mengangkat isu tabu, namun sebagian lainnya menilai representasinya tidak sensitif dan berpotensi memperkuat stigma terhadap kelompok minoritas. Dengan demikian, film ini tidak hanya menyampaikan kritik sosial, tetapi juga memunculkan perdebatan mengenai etika representasi dalam media.

Abstract

WordPress provides an XML-RPC feature through the xmlrpc.php file for external communication. However, this filter is often exploited as a brute-force attack vulnerability because it supports system.multicall, which allows multiple login attempts in a single request. This study analyzed brute-force attacks against xmlrpc.php through simulations in a local environment using WPscan and a Python script called lokoscannerX_ver1. Testing was conducted using two scenarios: WordPress without security and WordPress with security using the Disable XML-RPC plugin and .htaccess file configuration. The results showed that WordPress without security was easily attacked and overloaded the virtual server on the test environment. Meanwhile, after implementing the Disable XML-RPC plugin, attacks were blocked and prevented, while the .htaccess configuration only blocked execution but still allowed user information to be detected. This study emphasizes the importance of disabling XML-RPC as a basic WordPress security measure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital marketing on the consumptive behavior of students at Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif. The research is based on the increasing use of digital and social media platforms as promotional tools that shape young consumers’ purchasing patterns. A quantitative approach with a descriptive associative method was employed. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 100 active students using a 6-point Likert scale. The results revealed that all items were valid and reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.838 for digital marketing and 0.920 for consumptive behavior. The regression equation obtained was Y = -21.34 + 1.05X, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.3847. This indicates that digital marketing has a positive and significant influence on students’ consumptive behavior. These findings align with previous studies by Lestari and Hidayat (2023) and Kusuma and Sari (2022), which confirmed that digital promotions play a key role in increasing the consumptive tendencies of young consumers.
