Abstract

Despite the many benefits of sunlight, it can also have negative impacts on our health, particularly from Ultraviolet (UV) radiation. To reduce the risks, one can protect themselves by wearing appropriate clothing, avoiding prolonged exposure to sunlight, especially Ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It is necessary to pay attention to the choice of clothing colors considering that each color actually absorbs sunlight with different abilities. Therefore it is very important for us to know the color selection of clothes to wear in reducing exposure to UV rays on our skin. The objective of this study is to determine the difference in the effect of clothing fabric color on UV ray absorption. The UV intensity data obtained is the intensity of UV that has passed through a cloth filter with a certain color and the intensity without a filter. Data collection was conducted with 10 different cloth color variations. The results will be compared between the UV intensity with various colored cloth filters and the intensity without a filter. It was found that different colors on fabric also affect the intensity of UV rays that are absorbed or transmitted. Relatively bright colors will cause a dominant amount of UV rays to pass through compared to dark-colored fabrics. The fabric colors that allow more UV radiation to pass through are those that are predominantly light, in this study, the colors Purple and White.

Abstract

Snakebite or snakebite is a defense mechanism for snakes and can become a medical emergency. Snakebites are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, especially in South and Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. The snakebite can be life-threatening if it has a neurotoxic, cytotoxic and hemotoxic effect. Complications from snakebite include hemodynamic disturbances and respiratory acidosis. International online databases (PubMed and Google Scholar) were used to search for articles in this systematic review. A total of 24 related research articles indexed by Scopus have been published in the last ten years. This research is a literature systematic review. Research sources were taken in the last 10 years from 2012 to 2022, taken from PubMed and Google Scholar. After exclusion, 24 articles and studies that met the exclusion and inclusion criteria were considered for systematic review. Of all the journals reviewed, there are many that explain snake bite associated with hemodynamic disturbances and respiratory acidosis. Snakebite is proven to provide long-term complications in the form of hemodynamic disturbances around the bite site. Another complication that has been proven to occur in snakeibite victims is cardiac shock, especially impaired cardiac return. Pathophysiology, symptoms, and diagnosis of snakebite in pediatric and adult patients are the same. The majority of journals discuss heart disorders and infections, necrosis of muscles and bones related to venomous snake bites. Hemodynamic disturbances and respiratory acidosis are complications that can occur in snakebite victims. There are similarities in symptoms and management of venomous snake bites in children and adults.

Abstract

The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia in 2012 was still quite high, reaching 32 per 100,000 births. According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2010, deaths due to postpartum hemorrhage reached 40-60% (Ministry of Health RI, 2010). Reports on Maternal Mortality districts/cities in East Java, showed that the MMR in East Java in 2012 was 97.43 per 100,000 live births, with the death rate being caused by bleeding by 33.06%. Meanwhile, the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in the city of Surabaya reached 16.67% (DinKes Kota, 2009). In 80 to 90 percent of postpartum hemorrhage the main cause and most are due to uterine atony (absence of contractions in the uterus/womb), with a percentage of 50-60% (Varney, 2007). Woman, aged 28 years, came with complaints of uncontrolled bleeding after giving birth 5 days ago at the midwife. Spontaneously born baby, immediately crying loudly, male sex, weight 3900 g, followed by delivery of the placenta. On physical examination, the general condition was weak, composure, blood pressure 110/70 mmHg, pulse 113 x/minute, respiration 22 x/minute, temperature 36.6 °C. Abstract

Background : During the course of the disease, acute bacterial rhinosinusitis produces several inflammatory mediators such as levels of Nitric Oxide (NO) and TNF-α which cause changes in cell and tissue structure. Currently, there is no research on the effect of garlic skin extract on nitric oxide and TNF-α levels in acute bacterial rhinosinusitis. Methods : This post-test only control group design experimental study used 28 male white rats of the Sprague Dawley strain which were divided into 4 groups, namely a control group, a group of rats with bacterial acute sinusitis without treatment, a group of rats with acute bacterial sinusitis with amoxicillin antibiotics and anti-inflammatory prednisolone, and a group Bacterial acute sinusitis rats with the antibiotic amoxicillin and garlic skin extract. The study was conducted for 21 days, on the 22nd day blood samples were taken from the orbital vein and measured levels of NO and TNF- α using an ELISA reader. Results : The mean levels of TNF- α in the first to fourth groups respectively were 6.13 ± 0.31 ng/mL; 17.68 ± 4.29 ng/mL ; 6.65 ± 0.43 ng/mL ; 6.86 ± 0.26 ng/mL. The analysis showed that the data were normally distributed and not homogeneous. The One Way ANOVA test showed that there were at least two groups of data that had a significant mean difference (p < 0.05). The results of the LSD Post Hoc Test showed a significant difference between group K against P1, P2 and P3, group P1 against P2 and P3. And there was no significant difference between the P2 and P3 groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion : The administration of garlic skin extract (Allium sativum Linn) affected the levels of NO and TNF- in rats with acute bacterial sinusitis induced by Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

The landscape of modern medicine has been significantly transformed with the advent of Health Information Technology (HIT). This wide-ranging field encompasses diverse technologies, from rudimentary charting mechanisms to advanced decision-support systems and integration with medical devices.1 A deeper understanding of the nuances of HIT provides a vista of opportunities for improving and transforming healthcare, potentially reducing human errors, enhancing clinical outcomes, and facilitating seamless care coordination. One of the uses of health information technology is electronic medical records. Electronic medical records (EMRs) have the potential to improve patient safety, but there are also concerns about safety issues related to their use. Some of the patient safety issues with EMRs include usability issues, such as poor information display and complicated screen sequences and navigation. Additionally, poor EHR interoperability can lead to increased risks of medication errors and other safety issues.2,3 However, EMRs can also improve the ability to diagnose diseases and reduce medical errors, improving patient outcomes.4 The role of EMRs in enhancing patient safety is still debated, and there is ongoing research to identify potential patient safety issues related to their use. The future of HIT, particularly EMRs, holds promising prospects for further revolutionizing healthcare delivery.
