Abstract

Students are at high risk of emergencies as various incidents can occur within this group. Additionally, children spend significant time at school, increasing their risk of injury. Emergencies can happen unexpectedly and anywhere, including at home, on the road, and within the school environment. Most injuries in children are directly related to physical activities outside, with many injuries occurring during school hours. This study was quasi-experimental, focusing on one group without randomization. The design employed a pre-and post-test approach using the Wilcoxon test. The study was conducted in May 2023 with 38 respondents. Results: Based on the results, the "good" category, which initially had 0% of respondents, became 100%, while the "poor" category, which initially had 89.5% of respondents, became 0%. The knowledge score of teachers improved from 0.001 before receiving the JATUR Booklet to 0.002 after receiving it. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a difference before and after the intervention of providing the booklet, with a non-normal distribution (p0.05). There is an increase in knowledge scores after providing the Falling and Injured (JATUR) First Aid Booklet.

Abstract

Proper control, especially in the self-care management of hypertension in the elderly, is reported to be able to prevent unwanted complications. The aim of this research is to identify the characteristics of hypertension self-care management behavior in the elderly. The type of research was descriptive with a sample size of 150 out of 240 elderly people with hypertension in rural areas. The variable studied was hypertension self-care management behavior. The research instrument is the HSBMQ questionnaire. Data analysis is in the form of univariate analysis in the form of frequency distribution of the indicators of the variables studied. The research results showed that elderly people with hypertension had adequate behavior in self-care management for hypertension. This indicates that elderly people with hypertension are quite good in terms of self-integration, self-regulation, interaction with health workers, monitoring blood pressure, and compliance with treatment. Elderly people with hypertension should be able to increase their implementation of a healthy lifestyle such as diet and physical activity, be able to properly recognize the signs of hypertension and appropriate actions to overcome them, be able to discuss with health workers regarding action plans to overcome the hypertension they suffer from, be able to monitor blood pressure regularly , and able to comply with recommended treatment.

Abstract

Background: Rest and sleep needs must be met for critically ill patients in the ICU. Sleep is necessary for restoring physical function, energy, and immune system building. However, not all critically ill patients in the ICU  have good sleep quality, as several environmental factors can affect sleep quality, including physical environmental hazards such as noise exposure, room temperature, and air humidity, which can risk disturbing patient comfort and safety. Purpose: To determine the relationship between exposure to noise, room temperature and humidity with sleep quality of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Banyumas Hospital. Method: This study is quantitative research with an analytical observational design using a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 20 patients undergoing treatment in the ICU, selected using a random sampling technique. The analysis used in this study is the Spearman rank test. Results: A relationship between noise exposure and sleep quality is indicated by a p-value of 0.010 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.560. A relationship between room temperature and sleep quality is indicated by a p-value of 0.036 (p <0.05) with a coefficient of 0.471. A relationship between air humidity and sleep quality is indicated by a p-value of 0.010 (p <0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.560. Conclusion: There is a relationship between noise exposure, room temperature, and air humidity with patient sleep quality in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Banyumas Regional General Hospital. Keywords: Air humidity, Sleep quality, Noise exposure, Room temperature.

Abstract

Outpatients with urinary disorders generally receive procedures like catheter insertion. Patients with a catheter often find it difficult to perform activities, including outpatient care. Therefore, there is a need for catheter clothing to facilitate and provide comfort for patients when active, even with a catheter in place. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of catheter clothing on the ease and comfort of activity in patients with a catheter. This research uses a quantitative method, with a Pre-Experimental with a cross-over design approach. The sample in this study was outpatients with a catheter who could perform activities/mobility independently or with assistance. There were 23 respondents, with the sample collection technique being random sampling. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney Test. This study showed a significant difference indicating ease and comfort of activity between regular clothing and catheter clothing, with a value of z = -5.830, p = 0.001, and r = -1.21. This suggests a significant effect in the difference in ease and comfort between regular and catheter clothing. Conclusion : Using catheter clothing effectively increases ease and comfort in outpatients with urinary disorders who have a catheter in place.  Keywords : Catheter Clothing, Outpatients, Catheterized Patients, Ease, Comfort

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a condition where pregnant women have hemoglobin (Hb) levels below normal values, which has a serious impact on the growth and development of the fetus. One non-pharmacological therapy that can be given to pregnant women is through pregnancy exercises. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of pregnancy exercise on Hb levels in pregnant women. This research design used experimental research. The population of this research was 40 pregnant women at the Jeli Community Health Center, Karangrejo District, Tulungagung Regency and with a purposive sampling technique, a sample of 37 people was obtained. Data analysis used paired t-test. The results of the study showed that the average Hb level in pregnant women before pregnancy was 11.7 g/dl and after the pregnancy exercise intervention the average was 12.5 g/dl. The results of statistical tests using the paired t-test obtained a significance value (p value=0.000 < a=0.05. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of pregnancy exercise on Hb levels in pregnant women. It is hoped that pregnant women will carry out routine pregnancy exercise as an effort to control Hb levels..  Keywords : pregnant_women, hemoglobin_levels, pregnancy_exercise

Abstract

Background: Mental health crisis is a major issue for ODGJ and can endanger others and the environment. In handling psychiatric emergencies, the expertise of nurses is very important and needed. In the process, nurses have personal traits or qualities that can influence knowledge. Objective: The purpose of this study was to find the effect of age and education on the knowledge of health center nurses on how to handle patients with psychiatric emergencies. Methods: Using a sample of 91 respondents selected by cluster sampling technique. The research method used a cross-sectional approach. Demographic survey and knowledge assessment test (The Phisical Restraint Questionare) on how to handle psychiatric emergencies in patients were used to collect data. Results: Ordinal logistic regression analysis of the model fitting data provided results in the form of an association between the variables of age and education with knowledge and the degree of nurse expertise as indicated by a decrease in the value of -2 log Like hood decreased from 73.99 (Intercept Only) to 61.52 (Final) with p=0.029 (<0.05). Conclusion: The variables show that the model fits the data, meaning that the variables of age and education level together affect the level of knowledge of nurses about handling restraints in psychiatric emergency patients. Suggestion: Training programs for nurses on physical restraints need to be carried out continuously so that the quality of care provided by nurses when physically restraining psychiatric patients is getting better.   Keywords: Knowledge, Restraint, Psychiatric Emergency
