Abstract

Background: Perinatal depression is a condition of psychological disorder in mothers after giving birth. Prolonged perinatal depression in mothers can cause low birth weight (LBW) and impaired social, cognitive, and emotional development in infants. Apart from the pressure of depression that must be avoided, the eating patterns of breastfeeding mothers greatly affect the quality and production of breast milk. Balanced nutrition will produce good nutrition and quality, and good breast milk nutrition will affect the baby's development. Objectives: This study aims to provide information to determine and analyze the effect of perinatal depression and maternal consumption patterns on the quality of breast milk. Methods: Search articles through PubMed and ScienceDirect databases with filtering results for eligible articles to find 10 articles. Once obtained, then an assessment of the article is carried out to the stage of making a literature review. Discussion: There were 10 articles that discuss the relationship between perinatal depression and maternal consumption patterns on breast milk quality. Conclusion: There was an influence between perinatal depression and maternal food consumption on the quality of breast milk, psychological conditions and depression experienced by the mother also affect the diet and nutrition consumed by the mother so that it will have an impact on the quality of the milk produced.

Abstract

Background: Overweight is a global health problem caused by many factors. Poor sleep quality can be at risk of eating at night due to an imbalance of appetite-regulating hormones. The absence of physical activity carried out after such a dinner is risk of increasing body weight. In addition, poor consumption habits, such as high in energy, high in fat, high in simple carbohydrates, and low in fiber, which are often done by students, can cause excess weight. Objective: To analyze the relationship between sleep quality, physical activity, and level consumption of macronutrients with overweight in 2019 Universitas Airlangga students. Methods: This research used cross sectional design. The sample was 107 students selected from proportionate stratified random sampling from 13 faculties. Data collection included interviews and online questionnaires about individual characteristics, breakfast habits, PSQI, IPAQ-SF, and food recall 2x24 hours. Meanwhile, the statistical analysis used is the chi-square test. Results: There was a correlation between physical activity (p=0.018), energy consumption level (p=0.009), protein consumption level (p=0.000), and fat consumption level (p=0.000) with overweight in Universitas Airlangga student class of 2019. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there was a correlation between physical activity, level of energy consumption, level of protein consumption, and level of fat consumption with overweight. This was due to the density of student activities and the lack of awareness of a healthy lifestyle among students. Recommendations given by students are to increase knowledge and awareness related to healthy living behavior to prevent malnutrition.

Abstract

Background: DHF disease is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus with a transmission pathway through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The host factor in the epidemiological triangle, which consists of the characteristics, attitudes and behaviors of the community is estimated to be one of the supports for the occurrence of dengue cases. Buleleng Subdistrict is one of the regions in Bali Province with the highest number of dengue cases since 2016. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the characteristics, attitudes and behaviors of the community visitors to the temple place of worship to dengue cases in Buleleng District. Methods: This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional study design model. This research was conducted in April 2022 at Jagatnatha Singaraja Temple and Taman Sari Singaraja Temple. The data in this study were obtained primaryly through questionnaires distributed to respondents, as well as secondary data related to the frequency of dengue cases sourced from the Buleleng Regency Health Office. The data obtained in this study were then processed using the Chi Square method through the spss application. Results: Characteristics possessed by the respondents related to age (p=0.914), gender (p=0.257) and knowledge (p=0.247), as well as attitudes and behaviors (p=0.841) of the temple visitors did not have a significant relationship with the dengue cases that occurred. Conclusions: The characteristics possessed by temple visitors have no connection with dengue cases that occur in Buleleng District.

Abstract

Background: Iron deficiency (Anemia) is a major health problem by Indonesian youth. Anemia needs to be treated appropriately because it can have a long term negative impact on the quality life of adolescents. Mocaf, chicken liver, and pumpkin seeds are food source of protein and iron that can be processed into mi kremes as a snack to prevent anemia. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze acceptability, protein and iron content of mi kremes with substitued of mocaf, chicken liver, and pumpkin seeds. Methods: This research used pure experimental with completely randomized design (CRD). There are 5 formulas which are then selected for 3 selected formulas that will be further investigated. 3 formulas is control formula (F0) and 2 modified formulas (F3, F4). The total of substitutions F3 (mocaf 15 g, chicken liver flour 10 g, and pumpkin seeds flour 15 g) and F4 (mocaf 20 g, chicken liver flour 10 g, and pumpkin seeds flour 10 g). This research used 25 untrained panelists namely young women aged 10-18 Results: The results of acceptability test showed that the most preferred modified formula by untrained panelists is F3. The protein and iron content per 100 g mi kremes was 8,02 g and 3,11 mg. There was a significant difference between F0 and F4 in taste characteristics (p = 0,003). Conclusion: The formula with the highest acceptance is F3. One serving of F3 (70 g) can meet 10-15% of the protein and iron needs in young women aged 10-18.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is defined as a problem in growth and development caused by undernutrition, repeated infectious disease, and insufficient stimulation. Despite decrease in Indonesia's stunting prevalence had occurred, stunting remained as a serious nutritional issue and needed to be resolved. Objectives: To determine the relationship between history of exclusive breastfeeding, zinc intake, and frequency of infectious disease with stunting incidence in toddlers Methods: The study design used a case-control study with simple random sampling. Samples were 22 toddlers in each group in Gunung Tugel and Karang Anyar Village, Bantaran, Probolinggo, East Java. Data was obtained by questionnaire regarding exclusive breastfeeding history, zinc adequacy level, and frequency of infection. Toddlers' nutritional status data were collected by direct measurement. Data collected were analyzed with chi-square test. Results: Exclusive breastfeeding history was found higher in control group (63,6%). Zinc deficiency was found higher in case group (81,8%). Less infection frequency was found higher in control group (95%). There was no relationship between exclusive breastfeeding history (p=0,226), zinc adequacy level (p=0,472) and stunting incidence in toddlers. There was a relationship between infectious disease frequency with stunting incidence in toddlers (p=0,004). Conclusions: Toddlers with higher infection frequency have a higher stunting risk.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is defined as a state of malnutrition characterized by a stunted body shape in terms of body length index for age (LAZ) or height for age (HAZ). An essential factor in the development of children under five is the food-related problem, because food contains nutrition. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between dietary habits and maternal knowledge level in disabled children under five years of age in Jagiri village, Surabaya. Methods: This study used observational quantitative research with descriptive-analytic method with a cross-sectional study design. Samples were taken using a proportional random sampling technique on 79 children under five. Results: There was a correlation between diet and species growth (p = 0.000), there was a link between an abundance-based diet and leanness (p = 0.000), there was a correlation between program feeding practices and physical growth (p = 0.000), there was a correlation between feeding patterns (total) and stunting in children under five (p=0.000), and there was a correlation between mother's knowledge level and physical maturity (p=0.000). Conclusions: There was a significant association between maternal knowledge of under-5 child nutrition practices and stunted growth in the Jagir Village, Surabaya. This was because a long-term diet inconsistent with the nutritional needs of children under five can lead to chronic nutritional problems such as stunting. A lack of mothers' knowledge about nutrition and growth in nursing can lead to stunted growth of children under five.
