Abstract

Proverbs are an important aspect of language and culture that are used to describe meanings, experiences and values that are common across cultures. This article explores social media-themed proverbs that reflect Generation Z's interactions in daily life. This generation, growing up in the age of technology, views life through the lens of social media, and the proverbs expressed reflect their views on popularity, transient life, and the reality behind the online filter. By delving into proverbs such as "Not Big on Social Media, Not Small on Heart" and "Tweet a Million Words, Act a Million Meanings", this article aims to illustrate the complexity of Generation Z's interactions with social media and their awareness of responsibility and positive values in the digital world. From the analysis that has been obtained, it can be said that social media-themed proverbs are interpreted as Generation Z's behavior towards the use of social media at this time. Generation Z is virtual and superficial, relationship-related, and has short-term goals to communicate and interact in social media.

Abstract

In order to analyze Harold Pinter’s, play The Room, this essay examines the importance of Slavoj Zizek's three sorts of neighbor theory. The play's social relationships and power structures are insightfully interpreted in this essay by considering the play's characters and themes through the eyes of the play's imagined, symbolic, and real neighbors. The play The Room is more than simply a portrayal of social connections, the paper says, but a complex examination of the ways in which power, desire, and suffering interact in the human experience. Zizek's theory provides a helpful framework for evaluating the play's issues and repercussions.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of aging on the physical and cognitive capabilities, as well as the motivational factors, of military reservist volunteers in Agusan del Norte, Philippines. The objective is to assess how these factors affect the performance and motivation of aging reservists. Employing a descriptive correlational research design, the study examines the relationships among variables influencing reservists' effectiveness. The findings indicate a moderate decline in aging reservists' physical attributes, including strength, agility, and flexibility, and a similar trend in cognitive functions like memory and decision-making. However, these reservists effectively adapt their practices to mitigate aging impacts. Motivation is influenced significantly by both intrinsic factors, such as career advancement, and extrinsic factors, like the sense of comradeship, with the latter exerting a slightly greater influence. The study recommends that the Department of National Defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines adopt adaptive training programs and cognitive enhancement workshops for aging reservists. Additionally, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and other educational bodies should develop veteran-focused programs and educational incentives to support career advancement and lifelong learning. The Department of Social Welfare and Development can further support aging reservists through community development projects, leveraging their experience and fostering a sense of purpose and community engagement.
