Abstract

Investigating how English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructors at Afghan public universities felt about the application of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) was the aim of this study. The survey questionnaire was completed by fifty Afghan EFL instructors, and the results were evaluated using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, and frequency). Overall, the findings demonstrated that CLT is seen well by Afghan EFL instructors. The most favourable opinions regarding the role of students in CLT were displayed, suggesting that students firmly think that learners have a crucial role in putting CLT into practice. The role of quality/quantity of error-correction had the lowest mean. The overall findings showed that the Afghan EFL lecturers have positive perceptions about. Future research should be done, according to this study, to learn more about the opinions of Afghan EFL lecturers at both public and private universities. Teachers, students, and policymakers should all take note of the current findings. Curriculum revisions are implemented by policymakers to align with the nation's adoption of CLT.

Abstract

Utilizing Adrienne Rich's concept of compulsory heterosexuality, this research investigates narratives and struggles of Filipina lesbians as depicted in selected poems from "Tingle: Anthology of Pinay Lesbian Writings." Rich's theory, which describes heterosexuality as a social imperative and not an option available to women, can serve as a critical lens to understand Filipino literature more fully. This research exposes the profound effect of Rich's conception of society on the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ community members in the Philippines. Through careful investigation using qualitative content analysis, themes of social pressure, economic dependence, and compulsory heterosexuality become evident. The findings underlined the urgency of acknowledging and challenging these deeply entrenched struggles, drawing attention to the potential damage imposed by societal norms and perceptions that persist over time. The conclusion of this research calls for greater inclusivity, representation, and support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Institutions across various sectors should actively foster understanding, acceptance, and celebration of diverse narratives to enrich the human experience.

Abstract

This article aims to examine more deeply the essence of humanity in Islamic education. In its study, this paper uses the literature study method, namely studying human essence from primary sources of the Islamic religion such as the Al-Qur'an and the Hadith of the Prophet. Education that ignores the goals, functions, and tasks of human creation from the concept of Islamic education is a concrete form of distance from Islamic educational practices. This article concludes that human existence is a combination of physical elements and spiritual elements or between material elements and immaterial elements, the elements of body, mind and spirit are a unity that cannot be separated. Since the time of creation, humans have been equipped by God with the potential to be "knowledgeable" or "knowledgeable". The potential for science or knowledge is what then differentiates humans from other creatures. Because of this potential, he became a noble creature and had more value, so he was appointed caliph on earth. From an educational perspective, the Qur'an provides a picture that humans are pedagogical creatures, namely creatures who have the potential to be taught and educated, which in the context of this verse is symbolized by Allah's teaching to Adam about the names of all objects. Thus, education is a necessary process for humans to guide, direct and actualize the potential that exists in humans.

Abstract

This qualitative multiple case study delves into the English Language Teachers’ integration and assessment of peace linguistics in various pedagogical practices, focusing on the exploration of both violent and nonviolent terminologies expressed by students in classroom setting. Data collection involved in-depth interviews with five ELTs, triangulated to two additional teachers and five students. The data were thematically analyzed, revealing five essential themes for violent and nonviolent phraseologies and terminologies expressed by students such as: Moralistic Judgement expressions, cultural and religious expressions, positive and encouraging language, promotion of peaceful communication and teamwork, and the use of courteous language. Second, it uncovers five emergent themes in the incorporation of peace linguistics: promoting inclusive and peaceful language, cultivating a culture of peace through interactive pedagogy, incorporating culturally inclusive teaching materials, sustaining peace linguistics across the subject, collaborating efforts with peer teachers or experts. Third, it highlights four essential themes in gauging success in ELTS pedagogy: assessment of peaceful efficacy, peace pedagogy feedback methods, changes in students' behavior positively, and engagement in peace awareness professional development opportunities. The cases imply both similarities and differences in how ELTs incorporate peace linguistics into their classes and gauge their success, despite encountering both violent and nonviolent expressions among students.
