Abstract

Christian education serves as a prophetic action of the Church, reflecting its commitment to promoting justice within the framework of social theology. In an era marked by widening inequalities, systemic oppression, and moral ambiguity, the Church faces an urgent need to respond with transformative educational practices that go beyond doctrinal instruction. This study explores the role of Christian education in addressing social injustices and fostering societal transformation through a qualitative literature review approach. The research emerges from the growing concern that traditional ecclesial education often fails to engage critically with social realities. Drawing from Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy, this study underscores the liberating potential of education as a practice of freedom—empowering learners to become conscious agents of change. Freire argues that true education must foster critical reflection and action (praxis) to challenge structures of domination. Similarly, Gustavo Gutiérrez’s theology of liberation informs the study by framing justice as a core element of Christian mission. This research examines the theological foundations of justice within Christian social thought and how Christian education embodies the Church’s prophetic mission by integrating justice-oriented values into its curriculum. The findings highlight the synergy between social theology and education, while identifying challenges such as cultural resistance, theological rigidity, and institutional inertia. The study concludes by advocating for a justice-focused educational model that equips believers to embody the Church’s prophetic voice in society.AbstrakPendidikan Kristen berfungsi sebagai tindakan profetik Gereja, yang mencerminkan komitmennya untuk mempromosikan keadilan dalam kerangka teologi sosial. Di tengah meningkatnya ketimpangan, penindasan sistemik, dan krisis moral, Gereja menghadapi kebutuhan mendesak untuk merespons dengan praktik pendidikan yang transformatif dan melampaui pengajaran doktrinal semata. Studi ini mengeksplorasi peran pendidikan Kristen dalam menanggapi ketidakadilan sosial dan mendorong transformasi masyarakat melalui pendekatan tinjauan pustaka kualitatif. Penelitian ini muncul dari keprihatinan bahwa pendidikan gerejawi tradisional sering kali gagal terlibat secara kritis dengan realitas sosial. Mengacu pada pedagogi kritis Paulo Freire, studi ini menekankan potensi pendidikan sebagai praktik pembebasan—memberdayakan peserta didik untuk menjadi agen perubahan yang sadar. Freire berpendapat bahwa pendidikan sejati harus mendorong refleksi kritis dan tindakan(praxis) untuk menantang struktur penindasan. Sejalan dengan itu, teologi pembebasan Gustavo Gutiérrez memberikan dasar bahwa keadilan merupakan elemen utama dari misi Kristen. Penelitian ini menelaah landasan teologis keadilan dalam pemikiran sosial Kristen serta bagaimana pendidikan Kristen mewujudkan misi profetik Gereja dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai keadilan dalam kurikulumnya. Hasil temuan menunjukkan sinergi antara teologi sosial dan pendidikan Kristen, sekaligus mengidentifikasi tantangan seperti resistensi budaya, kekakuan teologis, dan inersia kelembagaan. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa model pendidikan yang berfokus pada keadilan perlu dikembangkan untuk memperlengkapi umat dalam mewujudkan suara profetik Gereja di tengah masyarakat.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low scores on midterm and final exams in the Citylight GBI Rayon 8 youth worship programme, where some children scored below the minimum standard of 70. This raised questions about the effectiveness of the methods used to teach the Word of God, particularly the use of PowerPoint teaching media and the level of creativity of Sunday School teachers/facilitators in delivering the material. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the use of PowerPoint teaching media and facilitator creativity with children's understanding of the Word of God, as measured by mid-term and final exam scores. This study employs a quantitative method with a correlational approach. Data was collected through a 15-item questionnaire using a Likert scale distributed to 64 respondents, who were a sample of the total 175 children. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software to test validity, significance, and correlations between variables. The results of the study indicate a significant relationship between facilitator creativity in using PowerPoint teaching media and improved children's absorption of the Word of God. Children who participated in worship using engaging and creative teaching media tended to have better understanding and achieved scores above 70. The conclusion of this study emphasises the importance of creative facilitators in supporting the effectiveness of learning God's Word, as well as the need for collaboration between the church and parents in strengthening children's understanding outside the context of Sunday worship.AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya nilai tes/ujian UTS dan UAS dalam ibadah Praremaja Citylight GBI Rayon 8, di mana beberapa anak memperoleh nilai di bawah standar minimal 70. Hal ini menimbulkan pertanyaan tentang efektivitas metode pengajaran Firman Tuhan yang digunakan, khususnya penggunaan media ajar PowerPoint dan tingkat kreativitas guru Sekolah Minggu/fasilitator dalam menyampaikan materi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara penggunaan media ajar PowerPoint dan kreativitas fasilitator dengan tingkat pemahaman anak-anak terhadap Firman Tuhan, yang diukur melalui nilai tes UTS/UAS.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Data diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner sebanyak 15 item menggunakan skala Likert kepada 64 responden yang merupakan sampel dari total 175 anak. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS untuk menguji validitas, signifikansi, dan korelasi antar variabel.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara kreativitas fasilitator dalam menggunakan media ajar PowerPoint dengan peningkatan daya serap anak terhadap Firman Tuhan. Anak-anak yang mengikuti ibadah dengan media ajar yang menarik dan kreatif cenderung memiliki pemahaman yang lebih baik dan mencapai nilai di atas 70. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya peran fasilitator yang kreatif dalam menunjang efektivitas pembelajaran Firman Tuhan, serta perlunya kolaborasi antara gereja dan orang tua dalam memperkuat pemahaman anak di luar konteks ibadah hari Minggu.

Abstract

The development of technology and information is increasingly unstoppable, progressing rapidly, one of which is artificial intelligence technology, commonly known as AI. AI technology is designed to be a solution for the future of humanity, making it easier for humans to perform their tasks, thus enabling them to work optimally, efficiently, and productively. Amidst such technological advancements, it will undoubtedly impact the world of employment, including the profession of educators. Based on research conducted, teachers are a profession that is also influenced by AI, both in their teaching and their future as educators. Referring to this, PAK teachers must become educators who are able to collaborate and befriend AI for the sustainability of their profession in the future. This research was conducted using a literature review method through reading, analyzing, and finding relevant information from books, journals, and media according to the research topic. The conclusion drawn from this research is that AI cannot completely replace humans, thus it is humans who must develop themselves, adapt, and befriend AI. PAK teachers are expected to be educators who can adapt, befriend, and implement AI for the sustainability of their profession.AbstrakPerkembangan teknologi dan informasi semakin tidak terbendung, perkembangannya begitu cepat, salah satunya adalah teknologi kecerdasan buatan atau Artificial Intelligen Teknology yang biasa dikenal dengan AI. Teknologi AI merupakan teknologi yang dirancang menjadi solusi untuk masa depan manusia, yang memudahkan manusia dalam melakukan pekerjaanya, sehingga manusia dapat bekerja secara optimal, efisien dan produktif. Ditengah-tengah tantangan kemajuan teknologi yang demikian tentu akan berdampak terhadap dunia ketenagakerjaan, termasuk profesi sebagai pendidik.  Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan, Guru merupakan profesi yang turut serta dipengaruhi oleh AI, baik dalam pembelajarannya maupun masa depannya sebagai pendidik. Merujuk kepada hal tersebut, maka Guru PAK harus menjadi guru yang mampu berkolaborasi dan bersahabat dengan AI demi kelangsungan profesinya dimasa yang akan datang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode study pustaka melalui membaca, menganalisa, menemukan informasi yang relevan baik dari buku, jurnal dan media sesuai dengan topik penelitian.  Adapun kesimpulaan dari  penelitian ini disim pulkan bahwa AI tidak dapat menggantikan manusia seutuhnya, maka manusia lah yang harus mengembangkan diri, beradaptasi dan bersahabat dengan AI. Guru PAK diharapkan menjadi guru yang mampu beradaptasi, bersahabat dan mengimplementasikan AI demi kelangsungan profesinya.

Abstract

Significant variability in the spiritual impact and congregational engagement in Adult Sunday School (SMD) programs of Union of Indonesia Baptist Church (GGBI) in Kediri City indicates uneven program effectiveness, strongly suspected to result from differences in pastoral leadership. This study aims to analyze the role and impact of such leadership on SMD effectiveness, identify crucial factors, and formulate strategies for its improvement. Employing a qualitatively dominant mixed-methods approach (QUAL+quan) with 8 pastors and 24 participants, positive correlations were found between leadership effectiveness and formal qualifications (r=0.65−0.78) as well as experience (r=0.63−0.69). Transformational and pastoral leadership styles were found to be significantly more effective in enhancing SMD quality compared to administrative styles. The SMD programs also demonstrated notable enhancements in spiritual, social, and learning dimensions. These findings recommend an Integrative and Contextual Pastoral Leadership Model—synergizing transformative vision, pastoral guidance, supportive governance, and adaptability—as a strategic solution for enhancing SMD effectiveness.AbstrakVariabilitas signifikan dampak spiritual dan keterlibatan jemaat pada Sekolah Minggu Dewasa (SMD) Gereja Baptis Indonesia (GBI) Kota Kediri mengindikasikan efektivitas program yang belum merata, diduga kuat akibat perbedaan kepemimpinan gembala sidang.   Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran dan dampak kepemimpinan tersebut terhadap efektivitas SMD, mengidentifikasi faktor krusial, serta merumuskan strategi peningkatannya. Menggunakan pendekatan mixed method dominan kualitatif (QUAL+quan) pada 8 gembala dan 24 peserta, ditemukan korelasi positif antara efektivitas kepemimpinan dengan kualifikasi formal (r=0.65−0.78) dan pengalaman (r=0.63−0.69). Gaya kepemimpinan transformasional dan pastoral terbukti signifikan lebih efektif meningkatkan kualitas SMD dibanding gaya administratif. Program SMD juga menunjukkan peningkatan nyata pada dimensi spiritual, sosial, dan pembelajaran. Temuan ini merekomendasikan Model Kepemimpinan Gembala Sidang Integratif dan Kontekstual mensinergikan visi transformatif, pendampingan pastoral, tata kelola suportif, dan adaptabilitas—sebagai solusi strategis peningkatan efektivitas SMD.

Abstract

This research explores a biblical model of leadership based on a textual analysis of Romans 12:3-8. Using a qualitative approach and hermeneutic analysis, this study identifies the leadership principles conveyed by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Rome. Romans 12:3-8 emphasizes the importance of humility, the function of the body of Christ as one unified entity, and the use of spiritual gifts given by God for the common good. The main finding of this study is that effective leadership in the Christian context must include humility, recognition of the diversity of gifts within the community, and a commitment to serve others with integrity and love. The leadership model derived from this analysis can be applied in various church and Christian organizational contexts, with the goal of building a harmonious and productive community. This research contributes to the Christian leadership literature by providing a framework based on relevant biblical principles that are practical for everyday life.

Abstract

This study examines leadership in the Old Testament narrative, focusing on the dynamic tension between divine calling and the crisis of human authority within the framework of God’s sovereignty. Employing a narrative hermeneutic method, the analysis centres on key leadership texts featuring figures such as Jacob, Moses, Gideon, Ruth, David, and King Uzziah, aiming to elucidate how leadership authority is established, challenged, and at times compromised by human ambition. The findings reveal that leadership in the Old Testament is fundamentally a form of stewardship grounded in faithfulness to God’s holiness and submission to His sovereign will, while simultaneously confronting the persistent human tendency towards domination and self-assertion. This study highlights that the successes and failures of these leaders reflect the ongoing tension between divine will and human aspiration, offering pertinent insights for contemporary understandings of leadership within spiritual and ethical contexts. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive thematic integration of leadership narratives within the Old Testament tradition, contributing significantly to both theological discourse and practical leadership studies.AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji kepemimpinan dalam narasi Perjanjian Lama dengan fokus pada dinamika antara panggilan ilahi dan krisis otoritas manusia dalam konteks kedaulatan Allah. Metode hermeneutik naratif digunakan untuk menganalisis teks-teks sentral, termasuk narasi kepemimpinan tokoh-tokoh seperti Yakub, Musa, Gideon, Rut, Daud, dan Raja Uzia, guna memahami bagaimana otoritas kepemimpinan dibangun, diuji, dan terkadang gagal akibat ambisi manusia. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan dalam Perjanjian Lama adalah sebuah pelayanan yang bersandar pada kesetiaan kepada kekudusan Allah dan ketundukan pada kedaulatan-Nya, sekaligus menghadapi tantangan dari kecenderungan manusia untuk menguasai dan mendominasi. Studi ini menegaskan bahwa keberhasilan maupun kegagalan para pemimpin tersebut merefleksikan ketegangan antara kehendak ilahi dan aspirasi manusiawi, yang relevan bagi pemahaman kepemimpinan kontemporer dalam konteks spiritual dan etika. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi tematik narasi kepemimpinan secara holistik dalam tradisi Perjanjian Lama, memberikan kontribusi teologis dan praktis yang signifikan untuk diskursus kepemimpinan masa kini.

Abstract

The problems faced include low student learning outcomes, boredom due to conventional methods, and lack of attention to learning needs and readiness. Challenges in differentiated learning also arise in Christian Religious Education, especially in accommodating student differences without sacrificing the core teachings. In addition, the minimal use of innovative learning media and technology makes learning monotonous and less interesting. One-way learning methods also ignore differences in student abilities and interests, thus reducing student motivation and understanding. This article aims to increase understanding of the importance of integrating differentiated learning methods in Christian Religious Education, emphasizing how this approach creates an inclusive learning environment for students with various needs. Through a qualitative literature review, this study analyzes related literature to explore the relationship between learning differentiation and learning media. The results show that differentiation is very important because it allows teachers to adjust learning materials, processes, and outcomes according to students' needs, interests, and learning styles, while learning media plays an important role in increasing student engagement and understanding of Christian faith values.AbstrakMasalah yang dihadapi meliputi rendahnya hasil belajar siswa, kejenuhan akibat metode konvensional, serta kurangnya perhatian terhadap kebutuhan dan kesiapan belajar. Tantangan dalam pembelajaran berdiferensiasi juga muncul dalam Pendidikan Agama Kristen, terutama dalam mengakomodasi perbedaan siswa tanpa mengorbankan inti ajaran. Selain itu, minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran inovatif dan teknologi menyebabkan pembelajaran monoton dan kurang menarik. Metode pembelajaran satu arah juga mengabaikan perbedaan kemampuan dan minat siswa, sehingga menurunkan motivasi dan pemahaman siswa. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang pentingnya mengintegrasikan metode pembelajaran yang dibedakan dalam Pendidikan Agama Kristen, dengan menekankan bagaimana pendekatan ini menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang inklusif bagi siswa dengan berbagai kebutuhan. Melalui tinjauan pustaka kualitatif, penelitian ini menganalisis literatur terkait untuk mengeksplorasi hubungan antara diferensiasi pembelajaran dan media pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diferensiasi sangat penting karena memungkinkan guru untuk menyesuaikan materi, proses, dan hasil pembelajaran sesuai dengan kebutuhan, minat, dan gaya belajar siswa, sementara media pembelajaran memainkan peran penting dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan dan pemahaman siswa terhadap nilai-nilai iman Kristen.

Abstract

In general, there are three parenting styles for children: authoritarian, democratic, and permissive parenting. The study entitled The Phenomenon of Tiger Mom and Elephant Mom Parenting Models, Its Impact on Learning Independence of Children Aged 6-12 Years, Integrated Research on Parenting Courses for Children Aged 0-18 Years Against 28 children at the Weekly Service Place for Semester V Students of STAK Terpadu PESAT Salatiga 2024. Wanting to reveal the impact of parenting as expressed by Amy Chua, namely the combination of authoritarian and classic authoritative parenting styles, called Tiger Parenting and Elephant Parenting which is similar to the style permissive or indulgent parenting towards learning independence. The study used a qualitative Phenomenology method. Final result: there are differences in parenting patterns for each child studied. There are anomalies due to parenting between theory and field facts. There are children with Tiger Mom parenting models who are less independent in learning. Only two children according to theory, are independent in learning. In relation to Elephant Mom parenting, the facts obtained are: many children fall into the category of quite independent, independent, very independent, others according to the theory are in the category of less to not independent. Conclusion of the study: there are four good impacts of parenting patterns related to learning independence. First, increased self-confidence in using learning media. Second, children show a positive response during the learning process. Third, children know how to manage and adhere to the study time that has been set and agreed upon. Fourth, children can be responsible and able to solve problems experienced. Tiger Mom parenting can produce children who are less or even not independent with various influencing factors. One of them is the child's personal factor. Likewise, Elephant Mom parenting can produce children who are very independent in learning. Also because of personal factors and the child's social environment.
