Abstract

Purpose: Changes in global retirement systems have necessitated greater personal responsibility for making retirement financial decisions. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of financial literacy on the financial preparedness for retirement among the formally employed in Zimbabwe. Research Methodology: The study adopted a positivist philosophy and an explanatory research design. Questionnaires were used to collect data from a target population of employees in Bindura, Zimbabwe. The final sample consisted of 384 participants. The independent variable, financial literacy, was measured using knowledge of financial instruments and computational capabilities of retirement benefits. Data were analyzed by multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 25. Results: The findings show a statistically significant relationship between knowledge of financial instruments and financial preparedness for retirement at the 5% significance level. The computational capabilities of retirement benefits are found to have no effect on financial preparedness for retirement. Limitations: Other factors that affect financial preparedness, such as demographics and financial factors, were not included in the model. Contribution: This study addresses retirement preparedness, which is one of the least-researched areas of personal finance in Zimbabwe. Therefore, the results are useful for policymakers to enhance the framework of retirement financial literacy.

Abstract

Purpose: In the past, companies placed significant emphasis on Earnings Per Share (EPS) financial performance, while Environment Social Governance (ESG) is now used to assess a company's comprehensive performance in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Research Methodology: This study employs qualitative research through in-depth interviews and utilizes the SWOT analysis method. This study aims to conduct an in-depth investigation into Taiwan Asia Cement's future carbon management strategy, anticipating and positioning itself to turn the crisis into an opportunity, ultimately becoming a major winner in the era of climate change and a low-carbon economy. Results: The primary objectives are to understand the innovative process of promoting low-carbon cement manufacturing by Taiwan Asia Cement and to investigate consumers' willingness to use this cement. The study reveals that Asia Cement has established a low-carbon cement promotion team, actively collaborating with consumers to increase the adoption of low-carbon cement, resulting in a stable market growth rate. Limitations: The marketing strategies in this study are more useful for the cement industry only and are not applicable to competitive marketing strategies in other industries. Contribution:  Additionally, interviews uncover that consumers using low-carbon cement are mainly located in eastern Taiwan. Many consumers in this region have not heard of or used low-carbon cement, indicating significant marketing opportunities. Novelty: In an environment where the world is emphasizing ESG, it is important to enhance the corporate image of the cement industry through process innovation to contribute to environmental issues.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of physical ergonomic factors on the performance of lecturers in public Universities in Anambra State, Nigeria. Research Methodology: This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study was 200; 187 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis, and the census method was adopted. The source of the data was a questionnaire, which was tested for reliability using the split-half technique, and the value obtained was .998. Correlation analysis was carried out, and the hypothesis was tested at a 5% level of significance. Results: The findings indicated that there is a positive correlation between ergonomic factors and the performance of academics in the universities under study, and it was established that the coefficient level between ergonomic factors and the performance of academics is very high, and that the correlation coefficient is significant at the 0.01 levels (.000<0.01). Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and alternately accepted, which states that there is a significant relationship between physical ergonomic factors and the performance of academics in public Universities in Anambra State, Nigeria. Limitations: The narrowing of the scope of the study to only public Universities in Anambra State limits the generalizability of the study.   Contribution: The Nigerian government will, by this study, know how to properly apply the physical ergonomic factors and its principles strictly adhered to, which will help reduce stress and work-related hazards in the workplace, leading to increased efficiency and stellar performance of public universities.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of the digital revolution on everyday life, focusing mainly on the emergence of e-wallets as substitutes for traditional physical wallets, and the adoption of various banking technologies in Bangladesh. Research Methodology: This study examines the utilization of several banking technologies in Bangladesh, including bKash Limited's mobile banking services, which were introduced in July 2011, and offer secure and convenient financial services to individuals with or without bank accounts. Additionally, this study explores the National Payment Switch developed by Bangladesh Bank in 2012, which aims to standardize electronic payments among commercial banks, facilitating cash withdrawals using plastic cards at ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) locations. Results: The findings indicate that bKash Limited's mobile wallet facilitates secure transactions through its highly encrypted Visa technology platform, enabling customers to deposit for various services such as wages, loans, and domestic remittances. However, the availability of bKash is limited to specific networks and areas, with restrictions on the use of bank accounts. Moreover, implementing the National Payment Switch is expected to reduce transaction costs, enhance financial inclusivity, and streamline online transactions by eliminating individual payment networks. Limitations: One limitation of the study is the limited availability of bKash in specific regions and networks, and the restrictions imposed on bank account usage within the system. Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of the evolving landscape of digital banking technologies in Bangladesh by offering insights into the adoption and impact of e-wallets and other banking solutions. The findings may inform policymakers, financial institutions, and researchers about strategies to enhance financial inclusivity, reduce transaction costs, and promote digitalization in the banking sector.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the influence of consumption values (functional, social, emotional, epistemic, and conditional) on adopting a cashless society while examining the moderating effect of perceived cost and the mediating effect of cashless readiness. Research Methodology: A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing a convenience sampling method to collect data from 200 respondents through a survey. Statistical analysis techniques such as structural equation modeling (SEM) were likely used to analyze the data and test the hypothesized relationships. Results: The study reveals that functional, epistemic, and conditional values significantly impact cashless readiness, which in turn affects the adoption of a cashless society. Perceived cost is identified as a significant moderator between cashless readiness and the adoption of a cashless society. Additionally, the findings indicate that cashless readiness partially mediates the relationship between functional, epistemic, and conditional values and the adoption of a cashless society. Limitations: A potential limitation could be the use of a convenience sampling method, which may affect the generalizability of the findings to a larger population. Contributions: The findings of this study could be valuable for mobile financial service providers, banking institutions, and governmental organizations in developing strategies to increase the adoption of digital payment systems. It contributes to the existing literature on consumer behavior and technology adoption, specifically in the context of cashless societies and mobile financial services.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the variables affecting the Inyati community in Inyati Mine's adoption of mobile money. Research Methodology: A descriptive research design was employed using a stratified random sampling technique. Results: A target population of 300 households was contacted, and the research concluded that some rural residents find it difficult to access mobile money because of their inferior technological skills, while others believe that network coverage is limited to certain areas of the community, and rural residents are adopting mobile money more slowly than their urban counterparts. Limitations: The study was restricted to a small community; hence, the findings may not be applicable to a wider community.   Recommendations: This research recommends that network operators ensure network consistency and wide coverage if potential members of the communities are to be included in the mobile wallet. It further recommends some improvements to mobile app systems to remove application complexity; it recommends that mobile money operators partner with international remitting agencies to include excluded groups of potential customers who receive their income from abroad. It also recommends abolishing end-to-end transaction fees to reduce overall transaction costs.

Abstract

Purpose: Mobile finance services have grown in Bangladesh, reaching a large population without access to traditional banks. This research investigates how mobile banking affects Bangladesh's economy. The paper analyzes mobile financial services in the nation and identifies growth prospects. Furthermore, the study will examine the potential impact of mobile financial services on improving the quality of life for low-income persons and their role in combating poverty. Methodology/approach: In order to gather data on the adoption and utilization of mobile financial services in Bangladesh, the research will integrate primary and secondary sources, such as surveys, interviews, and case studies. The study will also examine the socioeconomic and demographic factors influencing the country's adoption of mobile financial services. Results/findings: The study also analyzed mobile financial services' economic benefits and potential drawbacks. The study will focus on the potential impact of mobile finance services on enhancing financial inclusion, expanding access to credit, and promoting economic growth in Bangladesh. The thesis will examine the potential impact of mobile financial services on enhancing financial literacy among the population and boosting the nation's GDP. Limitations: Bangladesh's Information and Communication (ICT) strategy highlights the government's digital initiatives and policy goals as weak regarding digital inclusion. Consequently, the extent to which digital services and financial technology (fintech) will provide financial inclusion in rural Bangladesh remains uncertain. To achieve financial inclusion in the digital economy through digital services, rural populations must have access to digital equipment and supportive social contexts. Contribution: The research will investigate Bangladesh's mobile banking regulatory system and suggest improvements to protect consumers. It will also examine mobile financial service providers' problems and opportunities, as well as solutions. This article seeks to study mobile banking services in Bangladesh and find development opportunities. The findings will inform policymakers, financial institutions, and service providers in Bangladesh and other developing nations where mobile banking proliferates. Abstract

Purpose: This study explores the dynamics of institutional collaborative culture and its influence on task accomplishment in industrial contexts. Using a correlational design, it investigated variables such as teamwork, dynamic support, delegation of responsibilities, and organizational norms and values in relation to task completion. Research Methodology: This study targeted a population of 200 principal officers from diverse departments within industries in Iran. Data collection employed a modified Likert-scale instrument focused on Institutional Collaborative Culture and Task Accomplishment in Iranian industries. The sampling was stratified, resulting in a sample size of 110 participants. Data analysis included mean, standard deviation, and regression techniques. Results: The findings indicated a significant correlation between the elements of institutional collaborative culture (teamwork, dynamic support, norms, and values) and task accomplishment. However, delegation of responsibilities did not demonstrate a significant relationship with task completion. Recommendations: This study proposes promoting teamwork principles and providing comprehensive support to personnel across all levels of industrial operations as essential strategies for enhancing task accomplishments within industrial settings.

Abstract

Purpose: Social media use has become pervasive in the lives of students in both academic and nonacademic activities. This study aimed to assess the influence of social media use on the entrepreneurial intention of final-year students of the Higher National Diploma (HND) final year students of Accra Technical University (ATU). Research Methodology: The study used a descriptive research methodology that adopted a quantitative research approach; with a population of HND final-year students, data were gathered from 200 respondents through questionnaires. Purposive sampling was used to select participants for the study. The data received from the respondents were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using IBM SPSS Statistics 24. Results: The results showed that students were very active on social media and found it very useful. Five-year students considered entrepreneurship a career choice after school.  The results also indicated that social media use had a significant direct effect on students’ entrepreneurial intention. Limitations: This study focused on social media use as a determinant of entrepreneurial intention, and was limited to final-year HND students. Contribution: Tertiary institutions, as part of entrepreneurship education, should allow students to explore the use of social media to advance the entrepreneurship drive as this increases entrepreneurial intention. Practical Implications: Educators must inculcate the use of social media in practical activities during entrepreneurship education. Future research should examine how specific social media sites contribute to improving entrepreneurial intention among final-year students in tertiary institutions. Novelty: This study examined social media as a factor influencing students’ entrepreneurial intentions.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to test the relationship between energy consumption, energy prices, and economic growth in Nigeria by examining the coefficients of various variables in a regression analysis. Research Methodology: This study uses regression analysis to assess the relationship between energy-related variables and economic growth in Nigeria, focusing on factors such as gas consumption, crude oil prices, fuel prices, and coal consumption. Results: The results indicate that certain energy-related variables, such as gas consumption, crude oil prices, and coal consumption, have significant impacts on economic growth in Nigeria. The coefficients of these variables show both positive and negative relationships with GDP growth rates. Conclusions: Energy consumption is a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth, with short-run demand driven by GDP and long-run growth sustained by increased energy use, highlighting the critical need for stable energy policies and infrastructure development. Limitations: One limitation of this study is the potential for omitted variable bias or unobserved factors that could influence the results. Contribution:  This study contributes to the understanding of how energy consumption and fuel prices affect economic growth in Nigeria, providing insights for policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders in the energy sector. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its detailed analysis of the specific effects of energy-related variables on economic growth in Nigeria, highlighting the importance of energy policies and consumption patterns in driving economic performance. This study also contributes to the literature on how energy costs affect Nigeria's energy use and economic growth.
