Ulumuna
Ulumuna (P-ISSN: 1411-3457; E-ISSN: 2355-7648), a journal of Islamic studies published twice a year (June and December) by State Islamic University (UIN) of Mataram since 1997, publishes original (library or field) research articles in the field of Islamic studies. It promotes multidisciplinary approaches to Islam and Islamicate societies and focuses on six main topics: (1) the Qur’an and hadith (2) Islamic Law (3) Islamic Theology (Kalam) (4) Islamic Philosophy (5) Islamic Mysticism (Tasawwuf) (6) Islamic Education (7) Islamic Communication and Propogation (Dakwa) and (8) Islamic Politic. All submitted manuscripts are subject to double-blind review process. Ulumuna was admitted as an accredited journal by the Director General of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia in 2017. The accreditation is given through a Director Decree No. 32a/E/KPT/2017 and is effective until 2022. Ulumuna has become a CrossRef Member since year 2015. Therefore, all of its publications have a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number.

Abstract: All verses Quran are opened to be interpreted in various science contexts, including education. This article focuses on study at reconstructing the instructional concept of Quran. Results of this study indicate that instructional concepts own sturdy bases in al-Qur’an. A lot of verses of Quran give indication of people to learn more about thinking than memorizing. The past occurrence mirrors the instructional dynamics of human learning. The instructors are not only Allah, but also people, bird, and nature. Al-Qur’an always learns human being based on concrete media support even if the items are eschatology and theology. The instructional conception of Quran must not only use term ‘allama-yu‘allimu, but also yuwâri, yatafakkaru containing instructional elements. This reality shows that instructional concepts of Quran put more nuances of concrete-media than abstract-verbal ones.

The study focuses on the ethic concept of al-Ghazâlî in education. The approach used by al-Ghazâlî, in relation to the educational ethic, is sufistic-philosopichal which tends to the concept of ma‘rifat Allâh, taqarrub, and tahassub through riyâdlah. These three dimentions are the main basis of how to educate the moslem’s ethic. For those whose spiritual has not been good yet, they are suppossed to learn constantly. Therefore, an educator may guide and bring spiritually the students to be close to Allah. In fact, al-Ghazâlî’s concept of ethic in education by sufistic-philosopichal approach has theoretically and practically broad influences for the moslem life all over the world. Such two influences indicate that practically and theoretically al-Ghazalî’s school of thought in ethical education turns out to be the basic of further thinking. Thus, the very strong al-Ghazalî’s influence toppled down the sufism at that time.

Teachers are one of the important factors in the success of education including Islamic Education. Hence, teachers are considered as respected profession-bearing consequences of standardized characters and ethics as part of teaching competence. Teachers are not only considered as instructors but also spiritual facilitators leading to the students to be insân kâmil, integrated human being. Considering such an important role, it is not wondering that studies on profession and teaching ethics have been profoundly found. This article studies those aspects from the perspective of Abû Ishâq al-Kannânî reconstructed from his work, Tadzkirat al-Sâmi‘ wa al-Mutakallim fî Adabi al-‘Âlim wa al-Muta‘alim. The writer relates al- Kannânî’s thoughts to Indonesian contexts.

M. Zainuddin There is a number of Islamic Education outputs who could not meet the needs of society and the development of science and technology. Therefore, a wholistic paradigm of Islamic education which urgently needs to be formulated and applied in Islamic education This article focuses on how Islamic education does not only cover eschatological dimension, but also profane one. The approach or methodology used in this paper is a philosophical one. The results of the study recommend that the concept and curriculum of Islamic education should be focused on character building and values teaching as well as developing skills of communication, interpersonal relationships, community service, and leadership which all support the actualization of human duties and responsibilities as God’s khalîfah on the earth.

The pesantren institution is unique in education practice so it’s one of distinguished subsystem in national education system. This article focused on study of jenggotan translation practiced in course of traditional pesantren in Java. Locus of the study is in Pesantren Gondanglegi, Malang practicing jenggotan practice. The approach used is qualitative research employing the grounded research model. This study concludes that practices of jenggotan translation lay on two fundamental values. The first is the kepesantrenan value and the second is intelectual-academic one.

The study on children and early child education and its probelms from different perspectives has attracted researchers and academia. This paper focuses on studies of tarbiyah process and the developmental needs on golden age phase. The study is carried out employing the perspective of al-Qur’an and hadîts integrated with other knowledge of Psychology, Neuroscience, Medical Studies, and Sociology. From the integrated perspective, there becomes a universal principle that golden age phase is the most important stage in human life. This only comes once in the stage of human life cycle. If it passes without effective stimulation, this next stage of development potential is degrading. Children bearing such shortage are called “those who lost their childhood”.

The Islamic higher educations are undergoing important changes involving the development of missions and reorganization of management, with implications for their quality education in the midst of complexity. The main study of this article highlights the importance of governance quality in Islamic higher education in the face of complexity from the perspective of Blue Ocean Strategy. It can be concluded that to win in the future, Islamic higher educations must stop competing each other. The only way to beat the competition is to stop trying to beat the competition. Blue Ocean Strategy to be one of the alternatives in the management of educational institutions to create distinctive adavantage and competitiveness based graduates.

Islamic Education Institute (IEI) is grown and developed by, through the initiative, and for the shake of Muslim communities’ demands, so hat the existence of public relations management on the development of IEI becomes important. This article aims to provide concepts of techniques of public relations management in the development of IEI in Indonesia, as well as how to apply it, problems faced, and how to solve the problems. The results of this study are expected to be able to broaden insight of managers of IEI in order to make public relations programs effectively and efficiently operational, and to realize the development of IEI in a broad sense.

Pemerintah Brunai Darussalam giat mengembangkan model pembelajaran dan administrasi pendidikan Islam dengan menjadikan teknologi sebagai fasilitator. Upaya itu didorong oleh prakarsa Sultan Brunai Darussalam, kepala negara sekaligus sultan negara itu. Makalah ini mengemukakan hasil penelitian tentang integrasi pendidikan Islam dan penggunaan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi. Integrasi tersebut memberikan manfaat dalam pengayaan materi dan memudahkan proses pembelajaran. Setelah delapan tahun berjalan, program itu mampu mendorong kepada peningkatan kemampuan siswa, penguasaan materi pelajaran yang lebih terarah, evaluasi yang berkualitas, dan perbaikan pengelolaan administrasi pendidikan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teknologi informasi dapat bersinergi dengan pendidikan Islam sehingga pembelajaran menghasilkan kecerdasan bagi peserta didik.
