Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the relationship between motivation and participatory decision-making and job satisfaction, with adversity quotient as a moderating variable, among teachers and staff in Indonesia. Using a quantitative correlational approach, data were collected from 101 respondents through an online questionnaire using a Likert scale, supplemented by semi-structured interviews. The variables analyzed included motivation and participatory decision-making as independent variables, job satisfaction as a dependent variable, and adversity quotient as a moderating variable. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS using correlation and multiple regression techniques, along with classical assumption tests to ensure the validity and reliability of the model. The results showed that motivation has a positive and significant relationship with job satisfaction, indicating that higher levels of motivation contribute to increased satisfaction among teachers and staff. Participatory decision-making also demonstrated a strong positive relationship with job satisfaction, highlighting the importance of involving employees in organizational decision-making processes. Furthermore, it was found that adversity quotient strengthened the relationship between participatory decision-making and job satisfaction, suggesting that individuals with greater resilience and ability to cope with challenges experience greater benefits from participation in decision-making. This study contributes to the literature by emphasizing the critical role of psychological resilience in enhancing the effectiveness of participatory management practices. These findings suggest that schools should foster motivation, encourage participatory decision-making environments, and develop resilience among teachers and staff to improve overall job satisfaction.

Abstract

When heavy metals contaminate coastal resources and threaten food safety, marine pollution constitutes a growing challenge to the sustainability of traditional salt farming. Two coastal barangays, Paraoir and Almeida, in Balaoan, La Union, Philippines used in this study to determine the heavy metals in seawater, sediments, and produced salt. Results showed that seawater passed the standards set by the Philippines’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for fishery water for the propagation and growth of fish and other aquatic resources including salt. Higher concentrations of lead (Pb), inorganic arsenic (i-AS), and cadmium (Cd) was found in Paraoir sediments compared with Almeida. Samples of harvested salt proved that mercury (Hg) and Cd were not present, and traces of i-As were recorded within the allowable levels set by the Codex Standards. However, Pb levels in salt samples ranged from 4.03 to 5.45 mg/kg which did not meet the Codex standards for food-grade salt and suggest potential health concerns if consumed frequently. The presence of Pb in sediments in Paraoir could be related with human activities which include processing from cement plant and residues from fishing boats. The study suggests the need for strict implementation of coastal resource management particularly in pollution control and environmental monitoring. The need to improve the post-harvest practices is essential to ensure the health of consumer while sustaining the traditional salt farming as livelihood of the communities in the coastal area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of compensation and work stress on the performance of honorary employees with work discipline as a mediating variable at the Regional Secretariat of Manokwari Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of all honorary employees at the Regional Secretariat of Manokwari Regency, with sample determination using an appropriate technique and data collection conducted through a closed-ended questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that compensation has a positive and significant effect on both work discipline and the performance of honorary employees. Work discipline also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. In contrast, work stress does not have a significant effect on either work discipline or employee performance. Regarding the mediating role, work discipline is not proven to significantly mediate the relationship between compensation and employee performance (no mediation based on the indirect effect), nor does it mediate the relationship between work stress and employee performance. These findings emphasize that improving the performance of honorary employees is more effectively achieved by strengthening compensation systems and work discipline rather than solely managing work stress. Civil servants are an important element in the administration of government.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of perceived value on willingness to pay a premium for environmentally friendly bottled drinking water (AMDK) products in Bali, by examining the role of environmental awareness as a mediating variable and price sensitivity as a moderating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Data were collected through a survey of 130 bottled drinking water consumers in the Sarbagita region (Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan) using purposive sampling and accidental sampling techniques. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. The results showed that perceived value did not have a significant direct effect on willingness to pay a premium, but had a positive and significant effect on environmental awareness. Furthermore, environmental awareness was proven to have a positive and significant effect on willingness to pay a premium, and fully mediated the relationship between perceived value and willingness to pay a premium. Meanwhile, price sensitivity was not proven to moderate the effect of perceived value on willingness to pay a premium. These findings imply that AMDK producers need to strengthen consumers' perceived environmental value and increase environmental awareness through education and sustainable marketing communications to encourage consumers' willingness to pay premium prices for environmentally friendly products.

Abstract

This study is classified as an event study. The researcher observed whether the Rogalsky Effect phenomenon occurred on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, particularly in the manufacturing sector. This study examined whether there were abnormal returns before and after the event and whether there were abnormal returns in each event period. The researcher used 200 periods for the estimation period and 27 periods before and 27 periods after the event. The research sample used 57 companies from 228 companies listed in the manufacturing sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2024. Paired Sample T-test and One Sample T-test were used to test the hypothesis. The results showed that there was no difference in stock returns on Mondays in January compared to returns on Mondays in non-January months for manufacturing sector companies, and there were abnormal returns in 19 event periods. This indicates that an abnormal return occurred during this period due to market reaction to the information that emerged at that time. The occurrence of abnormal returns in this period reflects changes in investor expectations regarding stock prices in response to new information perceived as valuable. the tests conducted, it can be concluded that a seasonal anomaly in the form of the Rogalsky Effect occurs in the Indonesian Stock Exchange, particularly in the manufacturing sector.

Abstract

The growth of motor vehicles in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has contributed to increased vehicle exhaust emissions, particularly carbon monoxide (CO), which has the potential to reduce ambient air quality and endanger public health. This study aims to analyze traffic density, ambient air quality based on CO parameters, projected traffic volume and emission loads over the next ten years, and to formulate environmental management strategies for the Jalan Kaliurang segment from STA 0+000 to STA 1+330. The study was conducted through direct air quality measurements using a minivol air sampler and traffic volume counts involving motorcycles, passenger cars, buses, and trucks. The data were analyzed using a system dynamics approach and visualized through CO distribution mapping. The results showed that traffic volume reached 3,948 units/2 hours in the morning and 5,633 units/2 hours in the afternoon. The measured CO concentration ranged from 341.03 to 632.14 µg/m³, with a very high concentration distribution identified at a distance of 0.094 km. Based on system dynamics modeling, traffic density is projected to reach 17,158 passenger car units/day, with an emission load of 564,827 grams/day. The recommended management strategies include increasing roadside vegetation, implementing vehicle emission testing, promoting smart driving practices, and evaluating the obligation to conduct traffic impact analysis.
