Abstract

Suplemen as imunomodulator used to increase immune response, to prevent disease. Herb and Zinc (Zn) can function as imunostimulan. The aim of this experiment was (1) to studythe effect of Zn mineral and herb combination influence the healthy condition, performance and immunity responses, 2) to have blood biochemistry and organ function in broiler who given zinc mineral and herb combination, 3) to know the effectivity of herb and Zn to be treated by Colibacillosis condition One hundred broiler were used in this research, divided by 5 groups: RO (control), R1 (RO + 2.5% garlic powder+ 1.5% turmeric powder), R2 (R0+2.5% garlic powder+ZnO 120ppm), R3 (R0+1.5% turmeric powder+ZnO 120ppm), R4 (R0+2.5% garlic powder +1,5% turmeric powder and ZnO 120ppm). The parameters in this research are the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, and pack cell volume and total leucocyte. Blood biochemistry are investigate protein total, albumin, alanine aminotransferase (AL T), aspartat aminotransferase (AST), creatinin and ureum. The research showed that the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, and pack cell and blood biochemistry in normal value, that explain safety for organ function and health group showing health status and performance is good, tested in ability to attack Colibasilosis. The result of research show and hematologi in normal, The age of chicken was 3 weeks, all of groups were treated by innoculum of Eschericia coli (E. col!) bacteria with 108 CFU.mr1 doses per-ons. The parameter was based on performance, health condition, and immunity responses. The activity and the capacity of phagositosis for assessments immunity respons, the result showed to decerease the performance and healthy condition at the first week infection, then converse to improve at the second week. The amount of leucocyt cell, especially heterophyl cell was increased at 1 week after infection as being indicated by the appearance of innoculum E. coli bacteria. The amount of leaucocyt cell was decreased directly after 2 weeks post infection at the group that was fed by turmeric-Zn (P1) and gave antibiotic (K+) drug. This condition showed that the body defence fastly to eliminate the infected agent which was supported by increasing phagocyitosis capacity (327±111 bacteria) and phagocyitosis activity 97%±10%, was compared with the control group (without drug) activity value 85±15% and phagocytosis capacity (176±118 bacteria). Feeding by turmeric-Zn combination showed better result which was compared to Garlic-Zn combination and the ability to increase healthy condition, performance and immunuity responses.

Abstract

Soil physical properties can affect to seed germination and plant growth. Soil compaction will degrade soil physical properties which in term will affect to root penetration and developement in the soil. The improvements of soil physical properties is required to ensure seed germination and plant growth such as treatment to maintain soil bulk density is quite low. The purpose of this research is to study the influence of soil compaction (soil bulk density) to soil physical characteristics and seed gemination of peanuts and soybean. This research used Jasinga Podsolik soil, conducted at Soil Physical Laboratory, Departement of Soil Science and Land Resources, Faculty of Agriculture IPB. and Greenhouse of Center of Biological Resources and Biotechnology, Research and Community Service Agency, IPB (March-November 2009). Completed random design was used as experimental design and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to identify the effect of treatment. The bulk density result of the research showed that the increasing of soil bulk density (soil compaction) had significantly affect on pF curves, permeability rate, and soil resistance before or after planting. For peanuts, soil compaction significantly affect to plant height and root length. Soil compaction did not significantly affect of stem diameter, number of leaves, canopy or root biomass. For soybean, the influence of soil compaction did not significantly affect just only on plant height. Stem diameter, number of leaves, root length or root and canopy biomasses were not affected by soil compaction.

Abstract

This research was conducted to study hematological condition (total erythrocyte, concentration of haemoglobin, and packed cell valome value) sheep during transportation with combination of multivitamin-meniran. Twelve Priangan sheep were divided of into 3 groups i.e, sheep with transportation stress (control), transportation stress and multivitamin (Treatment B). The sheep were given stress transportation for 12 hours within 250 km around Bogor district. Blood samples were taken at 0 hour (pre transportation), 4h, 8h, 12h (during transportation) and 24h, 48h, 72h (post transportation) to observe total erythrocyte, concentration of haemoglobin increased and researched the peak at 8 hours although the range is still in normal condition. Packed cell volume of sheep under stress did not change. It was concluded that the combination of multivitamin-meniran was effective in maintaining haematological condition during sheep transportation.

Abstract

Cultivars Granola  dan Atlantic are the best cultivars so far for farmers, due to it adaptation in Indonesia. Cv Granola is resistant to several important diseases, but the quality is low, thus only produce for vegetable purposes. Cv Atlantic is the best cultivar, in term of productivity and quality. Cv Atlantic is suitable for industry purposes, susceptible to several important diseases. Crossing between both cultivars expected to produce high yielding cultivars and adapted to Indonesian environment. The method used was crossing and germinated the seed then selected in vitro. Each germinated seed was propagated in vitro and considered as clones. In vitro selection was performed through vigour, bacterial wilt and soft rot test, as well as micro tuber production. The result of selectionwas then verified in the field. From thousands of seed germinated producing 12 selected clones, 7 clones of them were showed better then their parent in term of tuberization and micro tuber production. The clones were Atnola 1, Atnola 5, Atnola 3, Atnola 10, Atnola 12, Atnola 24, and Atnola 26. Four clones showed level of resistance better than the parent, namely Atnola 3, Atnola 5, Atnola 8, and Atnola 10. The result of field test showed that the seven clones produced better tuber than the parent Atlantic dan Granola, which were Atnola 5 dan Atnola 10 showed vigour, tuber weight, and better level of resistance, thus will be the candidate of high yielding cultivars.

Abstract

Fish basket has an important role in assisting efficacy of marketing and fish landing process at fishing port. Generally have been known the function of basket as place of fish conveyor. Basket that was used during the time in fishing port (FP) and fish landing  place (FLP), indication of apperance of uncleanness at port quay, fish auction place (FAP/TPI) and it surrounding. The problem of sanitaion and also fish quality as ports at this period are very important for FP/FLP in Indonesia, especially for facing the era of globalization and free market. Including for FP such as PPN Palabuhanratu will be developed into ocean fishing port type; with one of function is to provide the fish for export purposes. This research was conducted at PPN Palabuhanratu at period of Sep-Nov 2007, the aims of this research are for knowing the effect of useful of basket to fish quality and the port quay sanitation, FAP and its surrounding. This research using study case method that is research the catch aspect in FP and fish basket aspect of catch landing and marketing activities and port quay and FAP. In PPN Palabuhanratu, the existing of fish basket are have so many type; plastic basket, bamboo basket, barrel, styrofoam box and container fibreglass (jolang). The use of its have affect to fish quality differently: assisting to maintain and degrade the quality of fish. Almost all type of fish basket have negative influence to sanitaion of port quay, FA and its surrounding, except box of styrofoam for layur. No one of the type of fish basket are able to provide only positive influence on fish quality and satation.

Abstract

The study were investigated antibacterial activity of liquid smoke from coconut shell and its applications of fishball at room temperature (27-28°C) and refrigeration temperature {4±1°C). The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of liquid smokel against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus were determined using broth or agar dilution methods. liquid smoke showed bactericidal effects with P. aeruginosa than S. aureus. MIC of liquid smoke was 0.40°/o against S. aureus and 0.22°/o against P. aeruginosa. Trial in fishball, showed that boiling in 2.5% liquid smoke and storage at 27-28°C and 4±1°C were inhibited the growthof total bacteria and increased shelflife 16 hours and 8 days than no treatment (based on SNI 01-3819-1995), respectively, and retarded the increased in pH and moisture content after storage. The results indicated thatliquid smoke was an effective inhibitor of fishball spoilage.
