Abstract

Teaching students to learn and to work well with 21st century skills is not only the domain of vocational school (SMK), but also general senior high school (SMA/MA) as well. It is not enough for students to have only core skills in literacy and numeracy in order to succeed as individuals, citizen, or workers. This article deliberates how to implement the 21st century skills as the new learning paradigm for senior high school students. Furthermore, how is the result of those implementations to the student’s career and life skills based on its five elements as the indicators. For the first research question, the study was descriptive and qualitative. For the second research question, the study was descriptive and quantitative. The writer did an observation, which is workplace action research. There is a Career and Life Skills Program for the twelfth grade students of MA NU Walisongo Sidoarjo. The indicator of the scoring result sheet consists of the five elements of skills that comprise the Career and Life Skills (CLS) domain. They are (1) Flexibility and adaptability skills; (2) Initiative and self-direction skills; (3) Social and cross-cultural skills; (4) Productivity and accountability skills; and (5) Leadership and responsibility skills. The result of those implementations to the student’s career and life skills based on its five elements is quite good. At the end, they are expected will be job-ready with the skills most in demand in the 21st century.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the increase of students’ creativity in writing descriptive text by using Super PC with mind map method. The result of this study wasthe students’ creativity could be developed by means of creative teachers who also contextualized learning with media that students have known every day, that is by using super PC (Supermarket Product Catalog) media. The use of Super PC media in the seventh grade of Junior High School 2 Sidoarjo brings a positive impact to the students’ creativity in writing descriptive text. This can be seen from the comparison of Cycle I, that is, with index 2.26, with less creative category. Whereas in the second cycle (Cycle II), the index was improving to 4.45 with a very creative category. Students have a creative character and in terms of practicality, clarity, quality and usefulness. The results of writing gradually improve positively. This media is also specifically designed to overcome saturation, limited vocabulary in using international language in the implementation of learning that prepares students in the 21st century, especially students’ creativity in writing descriptive text.

Abstract

Storytelling is a compelling tool for students to learn English through stories. Encouraging students to read or listen to stories sould therefore help them to learn a second language in a way that is not only fun, but memorable.Learners of English should practice and improve their skills in Reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Some materials may promote the completeness of learning this second language acquisition. However, using storytelling for intermediate level students is a creative way to have the students reinforce more on listening the story, re-writing the script, comprehending the chronological order, and speaking the opinion on the content. In addition, telling a folklore or fairytale is interesting and easy to comprehend. These student’s presentation show how they can manage the body movement, facial expression, and inflexion for making the story understandable by the listeners. The activities may be varied for individual or group based on the situation of the classroom teaching and learning. Thus, the teacher should guide them with detail instruction, as consequence, the students know what to do and what to learn. This technique is known as learning by doing in which learners gradually improve the fluency of speaking, the reading comprehension, and writing performance. Furthermore, the analysis shows how the effects of using storytelling enhance the areas of students’ weaknesses in English to be their strengths.

Abstract

Religious and moral education from an early age so needs to be invested for the child, so that in the future they will have a strong and deep understanding of the norms and teachings of Islam. Age children early childhood and kindergarten (TK) is a time to play, so education is implemented particularly religious education should be designed properly by the teacher so that the education process into an active and fun activities. Kindergarten (TK) Darma Wanita Sekardangan, Sidoarjo is one of the educational institutions that provide education for early childhood, with one lesson material is a moral and religious education. Moral education is one of the materials is very important because in load values, morals and religion, so this will be a guide for students in later life. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research to describe in detail the subjects and issues to be studied. The findings in this study is the cultivation of religious values and morals for children Kindergarten revolves around the activities of daily life. In particular cultivation of religious values with laying the foundations of the faith, personality or character that is commendable and devotional practices, in accordance with the child's ability is implemented. As one of the early childhood education institutions, in conducting the study, have several models of delivery Edutainment, habituation and uswah hasanah as a reference implementation of teaching and learning.

Abstract

Philosophical education is needed for children's education. Philosophy as a value education, as well as life education that is very important for the development of human personality. Therefore, philosophical education should be given since elementary school age. The pattern of teaching philosophy applied is different from the teaching patterns of other sciences. Because in philosophy, humans are invited to think critically. In this case what is meant is that they think for themselves and find their own answers to the questions asked. However, philosophy for children should not burden the learning process. Because it must consider the local cultural context that has existed in Indonesia before. The philosophy of early childhood education seeks to uncover and examine the reality of the child's education process. The implementation of early childhood education must be based on philosophy and educational theory that are suitable for child development. Thus, the practice of education has a clear direction, goals that are relevant to the nature, needs and development of children. Children will be treated according to their situation and living conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to find out: how the application of freedom in education in Mutiara Ilmu Elementary school,how the extracurricular election system is available at Mutiara Ilmu Elementary School. The data used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Datathatobtained in this study were analyzed using descriptive analysisqualitative with the stages of reducing data, and withdrawalconclusion.The results of the study show that: In extracurricular elections there is no coercion by the teacher towards students. students are given complete freedom in terms of extracurricular elections. even students are given the opportunity to carry out trials, if they feel comfortable, they can continue the extracurricular for one semester, if they feel uncomfortable they may move, but they only get one chance to move extracurricular

Abstract

This study is used descriptive qualitative because the researcher wants to understand the contexts. The researcher is focused on the analysis of “Guess What” textbook. There are 2 parts of this book; pupils’ book and activity book. The students in this school only use the activity book to do the exercise while the teacher has both. In this study, the researcher took the data from the materials in the textbook to analyze whether this book compatible with the question indicators in English final exam framework or not. The result of this study tells that the compatibility is 62% and the incompatibility is 38% from the total questions 50 numbers, 30 numbers are multiple choice, 15 numbers are short answer and 5 essay questions. It can be concluded that this textbook is compatible with question indicators in English final exam framework 2018/2019.

Abstract

This research sought to explore the readability of textbook for use by Senior High School Grade XI Semester 1 student in the year 2019. This research is used descriptive qualitative. It means that reading is about understanding written texts. If reading English text is not interest, vocabularies are hard to understand, the students get difficult to understand the reading passage. The readability level of text is needed to motivate students to be able to build up their interest in reading text. This research investigates the readability level of reading texts in English Textbook Entitled “Bahasa Inggris” for senior high school students grade XI. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data were gathered through analysis the readability level of the texts used Flesch Reading Ease Formula.

Abstract

This research is used quantitative method and the design used in this research was ex post facto. In collecting the data, the reseacher administer questionairre then share the reading test to the students. In analyzing the data, the reseacher used linear regression in SPSS 16.0.the result of this research shows that there is effect or influence between prior knowledge of english and reading ability. Based on the calculation linear reggresion, the gain of sig is 0.021 which is less than 0.05 . it mean s that prior knowledge of english at elementary school influence the reading ability of junior high school students. It can be concluded that the students who get prior knowledge of english at elementary school are having better reading ability than those who do not.

Abstract

Patriarchy is one of the great problems for every women in the world, this problem finally is represented to a literary work, and one of it is Atiq Rahimi’s The Patience Stone. This study was done by the aim to describe the semantics meaning of the patriarchy’s system toward the woman’s silent. To solve it by analysis, it requires a method that is reading, collecting data, and interpreting the data examined in the descriptive qualitative design. As the result of this study, it was found the silent voice of the Woman that can be said that patriarchy system can grab the rights of women, and what things that the Woman can deliver is the silent voice, the voice that can be a feminist movement for every sympathy to it. It represents, it says in very smooth whispers that there are still inequality caused by patriarchy, and the Woman cannot do anything. Overall, there were 14 data found representing the patriarchy’s system faced by the woman as the main character in case of language meaning applied.
