Abstract

Literacy is the ability of an individual to process and understand information while engaging in reading and writing during learning activities. The type of research employed in this study is a quasi-experimental study with a control group pretest‑posttest design. The population of the study comprises all 54 tenth‑grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Monta. The sampling technique used was random sampling. The research instrument for data collection was a test measuring students’ achievement in physics. The data analysis technique employed was the t‑test. The data analysis for the experimental class revealed that, on the pre-test, the highest score was 95, the lowest score was 45, with an average of 69.07, while on the post-test, the highest score was 100, the lowest score was 55, with an average of 81.48. In contrast, for the control class, the pre-test scores showed a highest score of 85, a lowest score of 40, and an average of 64.44; for the post‑test, the highest score was 95, the lowest score 45, with an average of 71.85. The results of the questionnaire analysis indicate that the utilization of learning media is highly beneficial in developing students’ physics literacy. The inferential statistical test (t‑test) produced a t‑value of 4.204, which is greater than the t‑table value of 2.160. This result means that the t‑value is higher than the t‑table value; consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the utilization of learning media has an effect on improving physics literacy in the topic of heat among students at SMA Negeri 2 Monta for the academic year 2023/2024

Abstract

Salah satu materi yang kurangnya motivasi belajar di kalangan siswa maupun mahasiswa adalah materi hukum kekekalan momentum. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa maupun mahasiswa dengan menggunakan alat peraga roket air sederhana. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan sampel 18 mahasiswa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini yaitu melakukan uji coba lapangan dan penyebaran angket motivasi mahasiswa. Uji coba lapangan dengan melakukan perbandingan antara roket air yang besar dengan ukuran 1.500 ml dan roket air yang kecil yaitu 600 ml. Perbandingan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan volume air (m3), jarak tempuh roket (m), tekanan pompa (Pa), dan waktu yang digunakan oleh roket air yang A dan roket air yang B, sedangkan angket indikator motivasi mahasiswa yang terdiri dari motivasi perhatian, relevansi, percaya diri, kepuasan, dan tanggung jawab. Hasil analisis data memperlihatkan bahwa volume air yang digunakan adalah 16x10-5 m3 dan 24 x 10-5 m3 dengan tekanan pompa yaitu 30x105 Pa dan 42 x 105 Pa. dan volume air yang digunakan adalah 24x10-5 m3 dan 32 x 10-5 m3 dengan tekanan pompa yaitu 40 x105 Pa dan 39 x 105 Pa. Sehingga jarak peluncuran oleh Roket A dengan nilai jarak 7 m2 dan 82 m2, sedangkan roket B di dapatkan hasil jarak 59 m2 dan 78 m2, untuk motivasi belajar siswa atau mahasiswa pada materi hukum kekekalan momentum dengan total persentase yaitu 82.4% kategori sangat baik. Kesimpulan bahwa roket air sederhana ini sebagai alternatif alat peraga dalam pembelajaran fisika.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes in the Natural Science (IPA) subject at SDN 10 Penatoi Kota Bima, particularly regarding the topic of electrical circuits, which is attributed to the implementation of teacher-centered conventional learning methods. Therefore, classroom action research (PTK) was conducted to examine and implement an experimental method aimed at improving student learning outcomes. The research subjects were the class VI/A students, consisting of 29 students (11 males and 18 females). The data collection instruments included learning outcome tests, observation sheets for both student and teacher activities, and supporting documents. The research results indicate that the implementation of the experimental method significantly enhanced learning activities, student involvement in the experimental process, and the average post-test scores that met the mastery criteria (a minimum score of 7 and a passing percentage of ≥85%). The implication of this study is that the experimental method is effective in optimizing Natural Science education, thereby producing a more enjoyable and meaningful teaching and learning process

Abstract

His study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes in multiplication material for third-grade students at SD Negeri 19 Rabangodu Utara, Kota Bima, through the demonstration method using realia media. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data was collected through observation sheets and formative tests. The results showed a significant improvement in students' learning mastery. In Cycle I, the mastery level reached 56% with an average score of 62. However, in Cycle II, the mastery level increased to 96% with an average score of 95. This success was supported by the use of the demonstration method with realia media, which facilitated students' understanding of multiplication concepts, as well as enhanced their motivation and active engagement during the learning process. The study concludes that the demonstration method with realia media is effective in improving students' learning outcomes in mathematics. Therefore, this method is recommended for implementation in elementary school teaching, particularly for materials requiring concrete understanding

Abstract

Low learning achievement, activeness, and student participation, especially in Mathematics subjects due to the limitations of teaching materials, media, and teaching methods are the background of this Research. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' numeracy skills through the Abaku method. This research was carried out at SD Negeri 1 Melayu Bima City. The subject of the study was grade I students consisting of 25 students. The object of the research is the learning achievement of students. The results of the study in Cycle I showed that the increase in students' numeracy skills achieved an average score of 64 with a completion percentage of 75%. In the second cycle, it achieved an average score of 86 with a completeness presentation of 96%. The conclusion that can be obtained is that the use of Abakus Media can improve Numeracy Skills in grade I students of SD Negeri 1 Melayu Bima City

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Discovery Inquiry Learning with practical and theoretical reviews, accompanied by animations, on critical thinking skills in the topic of vibrations and waves during the even semester of the 2016/2017 academic year. The research sample consisted of 58 students, divided into 29 students in the experimental group and 29 students in the control group. The research design used was the Posttest Control Group Design, and the analysis method applied was two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of the study showed that: (1) There was no difference in students' understanding of critical thinking between those who used the Discovery Inquiry learning model and those who followed conventional learning methods. In the Discovery Inquiry learning model, the significance value obtained was 0.117, which was smaller than the significance threshold (i.e., sig < 0.05). Meanwhile, in the Conventional learning model, the significance value obtained was 0.01, which was considered small because it was below the significance threshold (sig > 0.01).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of utilizing a simple global warming teaching aid in improving students’ motivation and conceptual understanding of global warming in Grade X. The research employed a quasi-experimental approach using a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, involving an experimental class with 30 students and a control class with 28 students. The experimental class received learning through a simple global warming teaching aid, while the control class received conventional instruction. Research instruments consisted of a multiple-choice conceptual understanding test, a motivation questionnaire based on the ARCS model, and student activity observation sheets. The results indicate that the use of the teaching aid had a significant effect on improving students' learning outcomes. The average posttest score of the experimental class (82.7) was higher than that of the control class (74.1). The N-Gain score of the experimental class reached 0.64 (medium–high category), whereas the control class obtained 0.48 (medium category). The independent sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.003, indicating a significant difference between both groups. Students’ motivation in the experimental class was also higher (86.5) compared to the control class (72.8), especially in the aspects of Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using a miniature Solar Power Plant (PLTS) teaching aid on the motivation and learning outcomes of senior high school students in the topic of renewable energy. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design involving 30 students in the experimental class and 28 students in the control class. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire and a multiple-choice learning outcome test. The results showed that the learning motivation of the experimental class was categorized as very high (mean 84.9), while the control class was in the high category (mean 78.2). Learning outcomes also improved significantly: the experimental class achieved a posttest mean score of 78.6 with 80% mastery, outperforming the control class with a mean of 69.3 and 46% mastery. The N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.52 (medium category), higher than the control class which scored 0.32 (lower-medium category). Furthermore, the t-test indicated a significant difference between the two groups (t = 4.32; p = 0.000). These findings demonstrate that the use of the PLTS miniature model effectively enhances students’ motivation and learning outcomes in renewable energy topics

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of integrating digital media into the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to improve students’ critical thinking skills on wave concepts in Grade VIII at SMPN 8 Kota Bima. Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, the study involved Class VIII-A as the experimental group (32 students) and VIII-B as the control group (30 students). Instruments were developed based on Facione’s critical thinking indicators and validated through expert judgment. Results indicate a significant improvement in the experimental class, with an N-gain of 0.71 (high category), while the control class reached 0.40 (medium category). Independent t-test analysis confirmed significant differences between the two groups in posttest scores for both critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. Thus, integrating digital media within the PBL model effectively enhances students’ critical thinking and conceptual understanding of waves
