Abstract

— In residential installation learning the learning process is still centered on the lecturer (lecturer-centered learning) so that it results in the atmosphere in the room feeling boring and the material cannot be played repeatedly This is a fundamental problem of learning strategies, so students get less understanding of the material being taught. It also has an impact on the completion of the Electrical Practicum subject value. So the aim in this study is to develop a video tutorial learning media that is valid and practical to be used by students and lecturers in the learning process of residential installation. The model used in this research refers to the Luther-Sutopo version of the MDLC (multimedia development life cycle) method. The MDLC development model consists of 6 stages, namely, concept, design, material collection, manufacture, trial stage, distribution. The results of this study categorised video tutorial media as very valid, obtained from the results of validation by 86% media expert lecturers, and 94% material experts. Video tutorial media is categorised as very practical, obtained from the results of practicality by course lecturers of 95% and by students of 84%. So it can be concluded that the video tutorial-based learning media is very valid and practical to use in the housing installation learning process.

Abstract

Independent learning ability is a person's ability to learn and develop knowledge, skills and understanding independently. Independent learning abilities involve cognitive abilities, strategies, and attitudes that enable a person to take initiative in their own learning process. The ability to learn independently also has an impact on the 21st century skills that students must have, these skills include creative thinking, critical thinking and problem solving, communicating and collaborating. On the other hand, in class it is often found that Electronics Engineering students are still weak in their independent learning abilities. The role of the teacher is still dominant and is the only source of learning for students in solving problems. The main cause is thought to be that learning media is less effective in increasing independent learning so that students are too dependent on teachers. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of the Proteus application on the independent learning abilities of Electronics Engineering students. The research method used is a narrative literature review. A total of 20 articles from international journals were used as research samples. Research findings show that the Proteus application has an influence in improving the independent learning abilities of Industrial Electronics Engineering students. This is supported by the data contained in each research sample. Implementing the Proteus application can also be an alternative in improving students' 21st century abilities. However, this research only examines one type of media. Recommendations for further research can be carried out by comparing the effectiveness of the Proteus application with other applications used in learning Industrial Electronics Engineering.

Abstract

Interest in learning is a high inclination towards something, supported by passion and desire, and becomes a motivation to carry out certain behaviors, including in the context of learning. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications to assist with lectures and completing course assignments is becoming an increasingly popular phenomenon among students. By using AI applications, students get fast and efficient data access to learning resources, resulting in more accurate results and saving the time needed to complete assignments. This research aims to find out whether there is an influence from the use of AI applications on the learning interest of Electrical Engineering students. This research is descriptive research with quantitative methods. The population of this study were all active electrical engineering students at Padang State University. while the samples were taken using the Solvin formula. The research process was carried out by distributing questionnaires via Google Forms. The results of this research show that there is a significant influence between the use of AI applications on electrical engineering students' interest in learning and the direction of the influence is positive.

Abstract

Region VII Education Authorities of West Sumatera is working hard to improve the competence and professionalism of teachers in enriching knowledge through Classroom Action Research (CAR) and publication of scientific articles. The goal is to have quality teachers, then quality education will also be created. Based on the results of observations and interviews conducted with the Regional VII Education Authorities, the problem faced is regarding the insufficient number of teachers who have published scientific articles. Based on the problems faced, one of the things that can be done in solving the problem is to conduct workshops on the preparation of CAR and publication of scientific articles as an effort to increase the professionalism of teachers in Region VII. The purpose of this activity is to create quality education through qualified teachers. The methods used in this activity are lectures, demonstrations and practice. Data collection techniques as data on the results of the implementation of this activity using questionnaires and activity documentation. The results obtained from this training are increased competency of vocational teachers in designing CAR and scientific articles as evidenced by increased teacher knowledge in implementing CAR and writing scientific articles. This was obtained through the results of the questionnaire analysis given to the participants after the training. Through this activity it is hoped that it can assist the Education Authorities in improving the quality of education, especially for SMK teachers in Region VII. Through this activity it is also hoped that several draft CAR proposals and scientific article drafts will be produced which are the work of the activity participants. The results of this activity will later be applied directly by the participants in their respective schools.

Abstract

This study was conducted to increase students problem-solving abilities by implementing the collaborative problem-solving model. This study uses quantitative methods in the form of a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was class X students majoring in Electrical Power Installation Engineering SMK Dhuafa Padang. The sample for this study was students of class X TITL B SMK Dhuafa Padang. This study uses an instrument in the form of written essay test questions which are arranged based on the material and learning objectives to be achieved following the curriculum. In this study instrument testing was carried out to determine the validity and reliability of the questions. The data analysis technique used is the N-Gain test. Based on the results of the research and discussion that has been carried out it shows that the average posttest score obtained is greater than the average score obtained in the pretest and the N-Gain test score is 0,59 which is in the medium category. So it can be concluded that the application of the collaborative problem-solving model can improve students problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine how much pedagogic competence and professional competence of teachers contribute to student learning outcomes in the subject of electrical lighting installation at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. This research is a quantitative study using the correlation analysis method. The sample in this research amounted to 36 students in class XI TITL SMK Negeri 5 Padang in the 2022/2023 school year. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and documentation, with a questionnaire instrument scored using a Likert scale. Before the questionnaire was used for testing and distributed to respondents, it was first validated by an experienced validation lecturer in the Electrical Engineering department. For hypothesis testing, the correlation test was used and for the significance of the correlation, the t-test was used to partially test the effect between the independent and dependent variables. The results of this study indicate that (1) There is a positive and significant influence between the pedagogical competence of teachers on learning outcomes. (2) There is a positive and significant influence between the professional competence of teachers on learning outcomes (3) There is a positive and significant influence between pedagogic and professional competence of teachers together on student learning outcomes. It can be concluded that teachers' pedagogic and professional competencies contribute to students' practical learning outcomes. Therefore, every teacher needs to improve these competencies to achieve satisfactory student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The issuance of Permendikbud No. 3 of 2020 concerning National Higher Education Standards (SN-DIKTI) encourages Study Programs in Higher Education to review their curriculum. The implementation of the MBKM program for Undergraduate and Applied Undergraduate Programs has an impact on the learning process where students are given the right to take their studies in three semesters outside their study program. The D4 Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program at Padang State University is one of the study programs that has implemented the MBKM curriculum since 2021. However, so far no evaluation has been carried out either of the completeness of the curriculum documents or the implementation of the MBKM curriculum itself. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in qualitative research are observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results obtained in this study are the completeness of the 81.8% Industrial Electrical Engineering D4 Study Program curriculum documents with details of 54.5% of the curriculum documents can be shown in writing and 27.3% cannot be shown in writing. The remaining 18.2% of curriculum documents do not exist / complete. Until now, the D4 Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program has only carried out 1 type of MBKM activity / activity, namely Internships / Work Practices. In 2022 the number of students who participated in MBKM Internships / Work Practices amounted to 99 out of 458 students with a percentage of 21.62%. Meanwhile, for 2023 the number of students who participated in Internships / Practical Work was 102 out of 364 students with a percentage of 28.02%. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the completeness of documents and the implementation of MBKM in the D4 Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program has gone well and is in accordance with applicable regulations.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the implementation of the student facilitator and explaining learning model in the basics of electricity subject at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. It is known that many learning models have been developed by experts, but schools still use the lecture learning model. The use of inappropriate learning models results in students' lack of interest and enthusiasm in participating in the learning process so that this has an impact on low student learning outcomes. The application of the student facilitator and explaining learning model is considered to be one solution in changing the learning model which is still lecture and discussion. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to see the implementation of the student facilitator and explaining learning model towards improving the learning outcomes of class X TITL students at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. The type of research used is experimental research in the form of Pre Experimental Design with a One-Group Pre-test Post-test Design. The research instrument used to see changes in student learning outcomes is by giving a test in the form of objective questions consisting of 25 questions. Meanwhile, to see the success of implementing the student facilitator and explaining learning model, namely by providing a learning implementation questionnaire after implementing the learning model. The research results were analyzed using classical completeness testing, gain scores, and analysis of learning implementation for questionnaires. Based on the research results, it shows that students' grades after implementing the student facilitator and explaining learning model have increased quite significantly. Analysis of the implementation of the Student Facilitator And Explaining learning model is in the high and very high categories. Based on these data, it can be stated that the Student Facilitator And Explaining learning model is effectively used in learning the basics of electricity.

Abstract

This research is conducted to design an Ispring Suite-based interactive learning media on Android for the introduction of electric motors and determine the response of students to the Ispring Suite-based interactive learning media on the topic of electric motor introduction. This study uses a development research (Research and Development) type and employs the 4-D model. The research utilizes a questionnaire as an instrument, consisting of questionnaires for media expert validation, material expert validation, and student response. In this study, an instrument test is conducted to determine the questions' validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination power. The research produces a product in the form of an Android application on the subject of introducing electric motors in the electrical motor installation subject. Based on the data analysis and discussion, the validation testing of the Ispring Suite-based interactive learning media on the topic of electric motor introduction is obtained through three validators in the form of validation questionnaires, namely 2 validators from material experts and 1 validator from a media expert. The assessment by these three validators yielded results indicating that the Ispring Suite-based interactive learning media is considered valid. The validation percentage from the media expert is 86.6% with a valid category. Meanwhile, the average validation percentage obtained from the two material experts is 88.6% with a valid category. Thus, the Ispring Suite-based interactive learning media in the subject of electric motor installation in vocational high school class XI can be considered appropriate and can be used for a broader scope.

Abstract

Learning using E-Learning has recently become part of education in Indonesia, however its implementation needs to be evaluated so that it meets standards. So, this research aims to start implementing Online exams using Padang State University E-Learning. This research is evaluation research using the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) approach. The research subjects were 30 students taking measurement and instrument lectures in the electrical engineering study program, Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University. The instrument used in this research was a questionnaire. The data was analyzed for the average value of the questionnaire which was classified and explained for each aspect of the evaluation. The research results that describe the implementation of Online exams with E-Learning at Padang State University are quite good, with average scores reflecting adequate quality. Context evaluation indicates the user's skill level and sufficient means available, although graphics and E-Learning content require further attention. Evaluation input shows good improvements in user capabilities and availability of E-Learning access facilities. The evaluation highlights the good process of using E-Learning applications, despite challenges in implementing assessments through the platform. Product evaluation shows that the quality and benefits of E-Learning are quite good. In conclusion, although the implementation of Online exams has provided positive benefits, there are still aspects that can be improved, such as the security of Online exams and more authentic evaluation methods. These findings provide valuable insight for further development in facing the dynamics of educational technology that continues to develop. The findings of this research open up opportunities for further exploration in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in conducting Online exams.
