Abstract

Background: Nutrition problems overweight and weight less associated with decreased ability of the body both physical and mental, decreased ability to think, increased risk of pain, and slowing the healing process of disease. One form of decreased physical ability can be seen from the low stamina of a person, stamina is determined by VO2 max, VO2 max is the maximal oxygen uptake or maximal oxygen volume utilized in the exercise until the occurrence of fatigue. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship of nutritional status with VO2 max of student of Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya. Method: The method used in this research is analytic survey research method with cross sectional approach. The population in this study is all students of class 11 Madrasah Aliyah MBI class in Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya as many as 24 students with 20 samples and taken by using Purposive sampling. Independent variable Nutritional status was measured using BMI calculation and max dependent variable VO2 was measured using multistage step test. Results: The result showed that students in Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya mostly (55%) have normal nutritional status, the students in Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya almost half (45%) have very low VO2 max. The result of statistical test showed that there was no correlation between the nutritional status with VO2 max of students of Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya p = 0,200 (p> 0,05). Conclusion: The conclusion of the research is students in Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya mostly have normal nutritional status. Students in Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya some of them have VO2 max value is very less. There is no correlation between the relationship of nutritional status on VO2 max of Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya.

Abstract

Background: There are many studies explore the effectiveness and efficacy of yellow root, but while for phytochemical screening with decoction method and making of product has still little bit. Empirical yellow root is usually drunk in fresh condition, immediately after boiled, but cause of the bitter taste it needs to be covered by sweet taste and made product that can be last long. Options of honey for this research is intended to increase the taste of product that can be consumed in maintain health. Objective: This research is aimed to determine secondary metabolite content by decoction method, to make yellow root product and know the stability of yellow root product. Method: The yellow root research design used in this study is decoction method, tested the content of secondary metabolite, then added honey and tested organoleptis for 14 days. Conclusion: The results of phytochemical screening using decoction method showed that the yellow root extract contained alkaloids and saponins, and the stability test results showed more durable yellow wood extract plus honey.

Abstract

Background: As you get older, a person will experience a decrease in bone and muscle mass affecting bone structure changes. The process is said to be aging. Objective: The purpose of this research is to find out the corelation between hand range toward body height and in determining body mass index (BMI) of elderly in Distric Semarang. Method: This study used cross sectional design. Subjects of the study were the elderly in Kelurahan Candigaron Distric Semarang, which consisted of 60 people consisting of 30 men and 30 women. Sampling technique used is purposive random sampling. Height is measured using microtoise, weight using digital weight scales, and arm range using metline. The data obtained then tested the normality with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test which then continued with Rank Spearman correlation test. Results: Based on the analyzis of height and armspan by using Rank Spearman correlation test, the result was r = 0,921 (female) dan r = 0,819 (male). Whereas, Rank Spearman correlation test between BMI height (BMI TB) and BMI armspan (BMI RL) gave a result of r = 0,965 (female) and r = 0,905 (male). Significancy of the whole test was < 0,05. This result showed that there were strong, linear, and significant relation between armspan and height, along with BMI TB and BMI RL. Conclusion: Armspan is reliable as substitute height in determining body mass index of the elderly in Distric Semarang, because there is a strong and significant relation between height - armspan and BMI height - BMI arm span.

Abstract

Background: The red galangal (Alpinia purpurata K.Schum) is one of the plants that has been known for its benefits by the people of Tanggulun Barat village RT.23/RW.06 Kalijati, Subang Regency, as swamedication to prevent and treat ringworm. However, medical thecnology developed for the majority of people tends to be synthetically made and does not have any herb characteristics at all, especially in the urban society. Objective: This research aims to produce Red Galangal Rhizomes (Alpinia purpurata K.Schum) anti-ringworm param supply from rice (Oriza sativa L) as stable filler organoleptically. Method: Etnofarmacology was used as a design in this research. This research begins with the accumulation of data through interview with the people of Tanggulun Barat village RT.23/RW. 06 Kalijati, Subang Regency which become the reference to produce param supply with variable time length of drying in the sunlight in the purpose to find out the effect of water content towards the stability of supply throughout storaging process. Param supply stability testing done by organoleptic observation in three storage variable. Result: Result shows that param supply which was dried in the sunlight for one day had a better color and aroma stability compared to two and three days of drying, while the organoleptic testing of supply results in the difference of form and fungus growth to be not found on all samples, however there have been changes on aroma and color on storage inside open and closed container with the silica gel. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is that the param supply with the process of drying in the sunlight for one day with closed container storage without silica gel gives fine product and stability which can withstand up to three weeks.
