Abstract

Smoking is one habit that commonly encountered in everyday life. Smoking both active and passive bodily harm, Youth is a stage in human development. Teens have a high curiosity and often mimic behaviors performed by adults, including smoking and smoking has become a lifestyle among adolescents. This study was conducted to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitudes about the dangers of smoking in young men in UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This research is an analytic survey with Cross sectional study design. Number of sample 90 respondents using proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected by using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive method. The results showed that 88 young men good knowledgeable and less knowledgeable 2 of young man, as many as 57 young men to be good attitude and 21 were poor attitude of young man, as many as 12 young men behaved badly about the dangers of smoking.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country which is diverse types of plants, one of them which was plant jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk.). But so far, its utilization of waste still leaves form the seeds of jackfruit. Basic human needs of food and technology progress encourages humans to cultivate seeds into flour, jackfruit seed jackfruit. To understand the nutrient content of quality food grain powder jackfruit is the researchers want to do an analysis of proksimat on seed flour, jackfruit. This research use experimental design to test the levels of protein, carbs, fat and calories jackfruit seed flour. The measurement of protein content by Kjeldahl method, method of Carbohydrate carbs by Defference method with Soklet,fat,and calories with manual calculation. Research results from the jackfruit seeds have been processed into flour, jackfruit seeds showed that levels of the protein in the flour biji nangka of 12.19 grams, carbohydrate levels of 56.21 grams, 1.12 grams of fat content and moisture content of 12.4 grams. Expected with the known value of jackfruit seeds flour on proksimat this will encourage the public to make use of waste food into jackfruit seeds in the form of jackfruit seed flour. In addition to reducing waste, nutrient content of jackfruit seed flour is also high.

Abstract

The tomato plant (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) Is a multipurpose horticultural plant that is very useful as a commodity for various human needs. This study aims to determine the benefits of applying liquid organic fertilizer to carrot waste which can increase the productivity of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.). This research was conducted from April to August 2019. This research was conducted in the screen house of the johor housing complex, Medan City, North Sumatra. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) using a solution concentration of A = 0% as a treatment control, B = 5%, treatment C = 10%, treatment D = 15%, and treatment E = 20%. The type of data in this research is quantitative data. Data analysis used the one way ANOVA analysis of variance test with 5% accuracy, and continued with Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT). The results showed that liquid organic fertilizer derived from carrot waste can increase the productivity of tomato plants by having a plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, number of flowers and number of fruits that grow well and this has a significant effect on the growth of tomato plants The highest concentration is in a solution of 5% and 15% concentration, where at a concentration of 5% there is the number of leaves, fruit, flowers, and plant height while at a concentration of 15% on the number of branches on the tomato plant.PEMANFAATAN PENGGUNAAN PUPUK ORGANIK CAIR WORTEL DALAM MENINGKATKAN PRODUKTIVITAS TANAMAN TOMAT (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence of Escherichia coli bacterial contamination in Piam River Water. The method used in this study is to use the Purpose Sampling observation method with three station points and three replications and the results are read in the MPN table. The results showed that the presence of Escherichia coli bacterial contamination in Piam River water with the lowest MPN yield was 38 CFU and the highest was 1100 CFU. The average MPN value on Escherichia coli bacterial contamination at station 1 in the morning was 59 CFU and afternoon was 111 CFU. Station 2 in the morning 128 CFU and afternoon 303 CFU. And at station 3 in the morning 92 CFU and afternoon 886 CFU.

Abstract

Studi Tumbuhan Herba di Cagar Alam Sibolangit Kabupaten Deli Serdang telah diteliti dari bulan Maret sampai Juni 2011. Areal pengamatan ditentukan secara purposive sampling dengan jumlah 134 plot berukuran 2 x 2 m. Didapatkan 136 jenis herba yang termasuk kedalam 44 famili dan dua kelompok (Pteridophyta&Spermatophyta). Jumlah jenis terbanyak dari Pterydophyta adalah Polypodiaceae sebanyak 18 jenis dan Spermatophyta adalah Poaceae sebanyak 10 jenis dan Urticaceae 5 jenis. Indeks Nilai Penting (INP) dari seluruh jenis berkisar antara0,216 - 26,332%. Jenis yang paling dominan adalah Micania micrantha dengan INP 26,332 %. Indeks Keanekaragaman dan Indeks keseragaman jenis-jenis herba berturut-turut adalah 3,083 dan 0,321.

Abstract

A study on the effect of andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) leaves ethanol extract to morphological ovary of mice (Mus musculus L.) strain DDW. has been, and was given orally by gavage on 4 days before estrus and 4 days after estrus with the volume given was 0,1 ml/10 g body weight. The research has been studied at Animal Structure And Physiology Laboratory of Department of Biology in Mathematics And Natural Science Faculty, University of  North Sumatera in Medan since February 2006 until September 2006. The research method used was completely randomized designed non factorial which consist of treatment and control groups. The treatment had one factor that is extract dosages with 2500 ppm (0,25 g/100 ml aquadest), 5000 ppm (0,5 g/100 ml aquadest), 10000 ppm (1,0 g/100 ml aquadest), 20000 ppm (2,0 g/100 ml aquadest), 40000 ppm (4,0 g/100 ml aquadest).The result showed that the chemistry consist of andaliman leaves extract is alkaloid, steroid, and saponin. The effect of andaliman leaves extract on 9 days to morphology of  ovary weight and diameter of mice did effect, but DnMRT showed non significantly effect of treatment and control groups of mice. From the result it was concluded that andaliman leaves extract did effect to ovary morphology of female mice, because can be effected oogenesis and ovulation. But the result showed that fluctuatif, because maybe the andaliman extract is crude extract that didn’t  isolation chemistry consist.

Abstract

Zingiberaceae is one of perennial herbaceous plant that was unique to its rhizomes. This is because the Zingiberaceae contains evaporated oil or had an aromatic odor. This research was conducted in February to March 2018 in the Telagah Forest of Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency. This research used descriptive procedures with observation techniques. The result based on observations obtained 11 species of Zingiberaceae, with 7 Genus of Zingiberaceae. The Globba Genus has the most number of species, 4 species (Globba nawawii Ibrahim & K. Larsen; Globba paniculata Valeton; Globba patens Miq; and Globba pendula Roxb.), Etlingera Genus (Etlingera alatior (Jack) R.M. Sm.; and Etlingera littoralis (J. Konig) Giseke), Amomum Genus (Amomum ochreum Ridl.), Curcuma Genus (Curcuma sp.), Hedychium Genus (Hedychium coronarium Koenig.), Hornstedtia Genus (Hornstedtia tomentosa (Blume) bakh.f.) and Zingiber Genus (Zingiber multibracteata Holtt).Keywords: Zingiberaceae. Abstract

Inventory of ferns in the University of Medan Area subdistrict Percut Sei Tuan district of Deli Serdang North Sumatra. Ferns generaly live in moist place and open. In the campus of the University of Medan Area 1 has a variety of tree, thus enabling the discovery of epiphytic and terrestrial nails done in campus of the University of Medan Area. The method used in this research is descriptive exploration techniques and documentation, that one the rescarch by describing an object without exaggerated. The sample used in the total sample using purposive sampling method. The results obtained many as 15 species consist of 11 epiphytic ferns are (Davallia trichomanides, Nephrolepis hirsutula, Asplenium nidus, Pyrrosia piloselloides, Pyrrosia lanceolata, Tectaria sp, Drymoglossum piloselloides, Drynaria quercifolia, Selliguea sp, Goniophlebium verrucosum, Vittaria elongata), and four terrestrial namely (Adiantum trafeziforme, Acrostichum aureum, Lygodium circinnatum, Thelypteris sp)

Abstract

Antioxidants can ward off free radicals in the body to resist oxidative damage caused by free radicals. The aim of this research is to know the influence of water solvent, methanol and methanol-water mixture to antioxidant activity. The extraction is done by maceration method. The extraction results in the phytochemical test and functional group analysis to determine the compounds contained in Pig leaf extract. Further testing of antioxidant activity with DPPH method. Pig leaf extract with methanol solvent has antioxidant activity with IC50 3,3005 μg / ml value, Pig leaf extract with water solvent has antioxidant activity 3,6976 μg / ml and Pig leaf extract with methanol solvent: water has antioxidant activity 13,6140 μg / ml. The IC50 <50 μg / ml value indicates that the Pig leaf extract with some solvents has potent antioxidant potential. Pig leaf extract with methanol solvent has the best antioxidant activity with IC50 3,3005 μg / ml value because according to phytochemical test and functional group analysis that methanol solvent is able to extract more active compound such as flavonoid, Triterpenoid and Sterol, Alkaloid and Saponin followed by Pig leaf extract with water solvent and methanol mixture: water.

Abstract

Pirdot is a natural medicinal plant contains flavonoids that has antibacterial properties. The bacteria tested in this experiment is E. coli that causes of diarrhea. This study was to determine the antibacterial effect of pirdot leaves made in an extract preparation by the diffusion method using paper discs.. This study also used Tetracycline as a comparison, where this antibiotic is very sensitive to E. coli bacteria. Pirdot leaf extract was made in various concentrations, namely 12.5%, 15%, 17.5% and 20% and 20 mcg and 30 mcg of Tetracycline concentrations. The results showed that pirdot leaf extract in E. coli was able to inhibit with a concentration of 12.5% of 10.41 mm, 15% of 11.71 mm, 17.5% of 14.08%, and 20% of 15.43 mm, while the 20 mcg Tetracycline comparison was 18.73 mm and 20.71 mm at 30 mcg. So the conclussion from this research are the concentration of 12.5% and 15% can not be not said to be antibacterial but at concentrations of 17.5% and 20% can be said to be antibacterial.
