Abstract

The 1965–1966 tragedy was one of the most systematic gross human rights violations in Indonesian history, involving mass killings, arbitrary detentions, torture, and enforced disappearances. This study highlights two major obstacles to its resolution: evidentiary challenges and the statute of limitations, along with tensions between national and international legal frameworks. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method through literature review. Findings indicate that evidentiary barriers are structural, while international law rejects the statute of limitations for crimes against humanity. The study recommends harmonizing national laws with international standards, establishing a truth commission, and implementing transitional justice to achieve accountability and restore victims’ rights.

Abstract

Flood events in Gajah Wong River have caused significant damages such as collapsed riverbanks, damaged neighborhood roads, and forced evacuations. The objective of this study is to visualize the areas along the Gajah Wong River that are affected by flooding during rainfall events, in order to determine the extent of inundated areas under specific return period discharges. This research aims to produce a flood inundation prediction map for the Gajah Wong River as a basis for flood mitigation efforts. The study uses primary data obtained through GNSS surveys, aerial photography, and river depth sampling. Secondary data used include return period discharges for Q2, Q10, and Q25. To calculate the inundated area, the researchers applied photogrammetry methods to generate orthophoto and DEM data, which were then simulated using HEC-RAS software to determine the flood inundation extent. The results of the study show that the flood-affected areas along the Gajah Wong River have inundation extents of 3.208 hectares for Q2, 3.942 hectares for Q10, and 4.601 hectares for Q25.

Abstract

Bantulan Village, located in Godean District, Sleman Regency, is an area with a relatively high elderly population. However, most of the elderly in this area have not received comprehensive health services, especially from specialist doctors capable of treating chronic complaints often experienced by the elderly, such as joint pain, mobility disorders, and heart or lung disease. Therefore, a Free Health Service activity was held. This series of activities was carried out by a social project team from the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (UII), several members of which are health workers, namely general practitioners, orthopedic specialists, and thoracic surgeons. The social project will take the form of free health checks by general practitioners, orthopedic specialists, and thoracic surgeons, distribution of free medicines by pharmacists, free health consultations, and provision of education and referrals for patients requiring further management. This activity shows the high enthusiasm of the residents in carrying out this activity.

Abstract

Constitutional and legal protection in Indonesia guarantees workers' freedom to form unions, a fundamental human right. This paper aims to draw conclusions by examining the regulation and implementation of workers' right to organize through the perspective of Indonesian labor legislation, namely Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower, including the obstacles to its implementation. This research utilizes primary, secondary, and tertiary legal sources obtained through a literature review to conduct normative legal research using a juridical and conceptual approach. Based on the findings, the right to organize in Indonesia has a strong basis in international and national law, including the conformity with Law No. 98. However, problems such as forced union dissolution, workers' lack of insight, and weak enforcement of labor laws hinder the implementation of this right. To ensure the effective and fair implementation of the right to organize, increased government support, law enforcement, and union capacity are essential.

Abstract

The lack of work readiness among university graduates contributes to the rising unemployment rate. This is due to a lack of understanding of basic skills, limited awareness of personal potential and career direction, and a lack of preparation for writing CVs and interviews. To address these issues, a 240-minute career preparation training session was held for 43 final-year students and recent graduates. The training covered motivation and work competencies, exploring personal potential, CV preparation and interview strategies. The effectiveness of the training was measured through reaction and learning evaluations. The results showed high levels of satisfaction among participants in various areas, as well as a significant increase in learning scores (p < .001). These findings can be used to inform students' career preparation and to help universities design programmes, counselling services and collaborations with industry and alumni that provide relevant, practice-based training.

Abstract

This sociological juridical research focuses on how land disputes are handled and resolved in Minahasa Regency, in light of Regulation of the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Number 21 of 2020 concerning the Handling and Settlement of Land Cases. Through regulatory review, observation, and interviews, data is then analyzed using legal, linguistic, and conceptual approaches. The results show that land disputes can be handled and resolved outside of court, in addition to resolving them through mediation. Mediation is an important option. The government, through the National Land Agency (BPN) and village heads, can act as mediators who can be held legally and historically accountable.

Abstract

The scheduling of Indonesian Navy Warships (KRI) in Koarmada II faces challenges such as vast operational areas, limited fleet availability, and resource inefficiencies. This study aims to optimize KRI operational scheduling by integrating SWOT analysis and Binary Integer Programming (BIP). SWOT analysis is applied to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in operational management, providing a strategic foundation for decision-making. The BIP model is then formulated with binary decision variables to assign warships to operational sectors, considering fleet availability, minimum coverage requirements, and budget constraints. The results demonstrate that the integration of SWOT and BIP produces more efficient, adaptive, and well-targeted deployment strategies. This approach supports data-driven decision-making while enhancing operational readiness and the effectiveness of maritime security under the responsibility of Koarmada II.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the resilience of informal sector workers in the Kajen Bantul community. As they share many similarities, according to Emile Durkheim’s theory, they may own social solidarity. This research questioned the relationship between social solidarity and the ability to create social and economic resilience using qualitative method. The data were collected through participatory observations and interviews with the members of Kajen society especially those working in pottery making. Using Durkheim’s theory, this research finds that the latter works more obviously between two solidarities in Kajen: organic and mechanic solidarity. There is no relation between mechanic solidarity and economic resilience as the collective consciousness to build societal organization for the safety net during post Covid-19 was still absent. In managing their resilience, the people are still in the stage of immediate coping mechanism yet unable to design a more comprehensive system of resilience. Therefore, it is suggested that a societal organization is created for that matter.
