Abstract

Cassava flour is a modified cassava flour which is similar to cassava flour, but the manufacturing process has been done with improvements and refinements. The quality of cassava flour produced is determined by the processing process of the type / variety of cassava used as raw material. This study aims to determine the level of consumer preference for wet and dry preparations, yield, and the break-even price of cassava flour from several varieties of cassava. The study used 2 varieties of cassava (UJ 5 and Klenteng) and 2 immersion treatments (addition of starter Bimo-CF and without addition of starter Bimo-CF), to determine differences in the resulting processed products. The results of the addition of the Bimo-CF starter to cassava flour, in wet processed (sponge cake) and dry processed (stick) products were preferred by consumers compared to those without the addition of Bimo-CF starter. The addition of starter Bimo-CF resulted in cassava flour with a higher yield and lower break-even point compared to without the addition of Bimo-CF starter, both on varieties UJ 5 and Klenteng.

Abstract

Increasing agricultural production can be done by planting a plot of land with various types of plants in a row or alternating cropping patterns. Agricultural cropping systems on dry land in the tropics have specific characteristics and depend on rainfall which can pose a threat to plant survival and the danger of erosion. . In suboptimal land with dry and wet wet climates, farmers generally plant upland rice alternately with corn and then plant beans. In reality, farmers do not only intercept/rotate between rice and secondary crops but also between crops and crops and/or crops and horticulture (vegetables). This paper aims to present research results related to efforts to increase land productivity by planting a plot of land with several types of plants to increase crop yields and farmers' income. The introduction of a conservation farming cropping system using ground cover and strip plants that produce organic matter is one of the alternatives to the conservation farming cropping system as well as for adaptation to climate change.

Abstract

Lampung Provinceis one of robusta coffee production center and a small part of arabica coffee production. Coffee plant propagation can be done vegetatively and generatively, to make garden of seeds entres, it is required seeds thatcan be used as rootstock or as a plant propagation. Coffee seeds have long germ time, caused by physical dormancy.Coconut water is one of the natural ingredients, containing hormones like cytokines, auxins and gibberellins that can stimulate germination and plant growth. The purpose of this research is to know the difference of germination time and to get the right coconut water concentration to accelerate the seed germination of Arabica coffee and Robusta coffee, and also to know the interaction between coffee type and coconut water concentration. The research was conducted in August-November 2016, in PlantLaboratory 1 and Green House of Lampung State Polytechnic. Experiments using Completely Randomized Designwith two factors and three replications. The first factor is coffee varieties (K) with two varieties, Arabica Coffee / Sigarar utang (K1) and Robusta Coffee / BP 42 x BP 358 (K2). The second factor is the concentration of coconut water with five concentration, 0% (A0), 25% (A1), 50% (A2), 75% (A3), 100% (A4).Each experiment uses 20 seeds, total seed required for all experiment is 600 seed coffee. The variables observed when sprouts appear, percentage germinated, when cotyledon rupture, simultaneity grow (KST) and growth speed (KCT). The result of variance analysis showed that the treatment of coffee varieties only had a significant effect on the observation variables when sprouts appear, cotyledon rupture, and the simultaneity grow, whereas the coconut water concentration treatment had no significant effect on the whole observation variable. Test results of LSD α 5% Arabica coffee varieties more quickly sprouts appear, cotyledon rupture and the simultaneity grow than Robusta coffee.

Abstract

Global warming is a trapped occurrence of long-wave solar radiation that emitted back by the earth. The impact of global warming is the occurrence of climate change which will further affect life on the earth. As a result of climate change, there are some agriculture areas that will be drought (getting drier), while in the other areas will get higher rainfall than usual (getting wetter). It can cause farmers to harvest failure and get significant losses. As one of effort to minimize that losses, it is needed the appropriate information about the climate condition (especially on rainfall) of that region in the past and in the present, whether that area is becoming wetter or drier than in previous years. This research aimed to learn the impact of climate change on a local scale in the agriculture area of Lampung State Polytechnic that seen from the foccus area of rainfall, and also to find out whether there has been a change of agroclimatology zone at Lampung Polytechnic agriculture area. This research was conducted in 2016—2017 at Lampung State Polytechnic. In this research, rainfall data that has been collected, analyzed using Oldeman climate classification system for food crops, then analyzed to determine whether that area become wetter or drier than in previous years or constant. The results of this research showed that (1) the impact of climate change at local scale (in Lampung State Polytechnic agriculture area) has been felt that signed from the change of rainfall condition, (2) the current condition in Lampung State Polytechnic agriculture area is wetter than in previous years, and (3) within the last 25 years, agroclimatology zone in the agricultural area of Lampung State Polytechnic has been changed from D3 to C2 zone based on Oldeman climate classification system

Abstract

Social forestry area that has the potential of ecotourism drives economic analysis of agroforestry among others were directed to assess whether the resources used in agroforestry activities are already quite efficient. While the community can not rely proceeds from the farm, the tourism sector comes to be a reliable source of income to meet the community needs. This study aimed to evaluate the direct benefits gained by the community, both from farming and other business results from social forestry region. Measurement of this immediate benefit was taken by approaching to the market value to quantify price of various directly marketable commodities. The sample size set with sampling friction by 20% in each study site, while the method of sampling was done using a quota sampling method. Assessment of each alternative in determinating allocation of efficient ecosystem utilization was done by using the Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR). The study results showed a variety of direct benefits that gained by farmers located around bufferzone forest areas, namely; farming, ecotourism, trade, labor, livestock and fish. Farming sector is still the mainstay of income source, each farming concession on forest land have indicated the venture feasibility in financial aspect. These indicate that farm management on forestry land is able to deliver benefits to the whole society.
