Abstract

Antenatal Care (ANC) is a form of health service provided to pregnant women before giving birth, with the aim of building trust, detecting potential complications, preparing for childbirth, and providing health education. This study aims to determine the relationship between Antenatal Care (ANC) and the incidence of stunting at the Sumbang Community Health Center, Enrekang Regency. This study uses a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling method in this study uses a random sampling technique with sampling using the Slovin formula, so that the number of samples in this study is 175 mothers who have toddlers aged 0-60 months in the working area of the Sumbang Community Health Center, Enrekang Regency. The data analysis used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. According to the results of the bivariate analysis using the chi-square test, it shows that two variables, namely the Frequency of Antenatal Care Visits (p = 0.000 <0.05) and Antenatal Care Service Standards, which include adherence to recommended checkup schedules, nutritional counseling, and risk factor screening (p = 0.002 <0.05), are significantly related to the incidence of stunting. This study concluded that there is a relationship between the frequency of antenatal care visits and the standard of antenatal care services with the incidence of stunting, while the quality of antenatal care is not related to the incidence of stunting. Community health centers are advised to further optimize antenatal care (ANC) services, particularly in terms of educating pregnant women about the importance of regular and comprehensive prenatal checkups, including nutritional support, early detection of risk factors, and stunting prevention during pregnancy. Pregnant women are also advised to be more aware of the importance of conducting regular ANC visits in accordance with established standards. The community is also expected to be more proactive in supporting the health of pregnant women and children as an effort to prevent stunting.

Abstract

The coastal areas of the Makassar Strait are rich in fishery resources, one of which is the bakalang shellfish. However, this area is at risk of pollution due to complex activities, such as industrial, fishery, port, and household activities, which are factors that contribute to pollution. This study aims to determine the environmental health risks due to cadmium (Cd) and chromium (Cr) content in bakalang clams (Marcia Hiantina) in the waters of Lantebung Bira, Makassar City, in 2025. The type of research used is descriptive observational. Samples were taken at six points, with one sample taken at each point using selected sampling, considering the level of pollution in the area that could cause Cd and Cr to be present in the waters. The tools used were a knife, scales, measuring flask, filter paper, porcelain dish, and AAS equipment, while the materials used were clam meat, distilled water, and HNO3. The results of heavy metal content testing in shellfish showed that out of six locations, only one location had chromium (Cr) levels exceeding the maximum limit set by the Hong Kong Food Adulteration (Metallic Contamination) Ordinance 1997, indicating potential pollution from various human activities such as shipping lanes, industrial waste, settlements, and the use of anti-rust paint and marine lubricants. Meanwhile, cadmium (Cd) levels at all points were still below safe limits, but caution is still warranted given the accumulative nature of Cd in biota tissue.

Abstract

HIV is a virus that attacks the human immune system, especially Cluster of Differentiation 4 (CD4) cells. If not treated properly, it will cause AIDS, a syndrome that appears due to HIV infection. Based on data from the Gowa Health Office, it was recorded that until October 2024, there were 137 positive cases of HIV in Gowa Regency. The discovery of cases in Indonesia, which is increasing every year, is concerning and needs to be closely monitored to understand why it is happening. One of these is because of stigma and discrimination. In this context, high school students are an important group to consider because they are in a crucial phase of psychosocial development. Adolescence is a transitional period in which they generally seek identity by trying new things out of curiosity. This study is quantitative and cross-sectional. This study involved students at SMA Negeri 10 Gowa with a sample of 147 respondents. The data analysis method used was bivariate analysis with a chi-square correlation test using SPSS. The results of the study showed that there was an influence between attitudes and subjective norms on student stigma towards people with HIV/AIDS (ODHA). Moreover, there is no influence between perceived behavioral control and students' stigma towards people with HIV/AIDS (ODHA).

Abstract

Technological advancements have advanced rapidly in the era of globalization, especially in the nickel mining industry. These developments undeniably have both positive and negative impacts. One negative impact is the pollution of liquid waste with hazardous heavy metals, both naturally occurring and artificially produced. Therefore, control is necessary. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of activated charcoal from kumea wood powder in reducing heavy metal levels, especially Cr6+ and Total Cr in wastewater in one of the nickel mining industries in East Luwu Regency. This study used an experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test at two representative sampling locations. The results showed that the higher the concentration of HCl activator, the greater the effectiveness in reducing heavy metal levels. This occurred at an HCl concentration of 0.8 M, but the results were inconsistent: at 1 M, it did not contribute much.

Abstract

Adolescent girls' interest in physical appearance is driving increased skincare purchases. Competition from local brands is increasingly fierce, driven by social media advertising and efforts to strengthen brand image. For Muslim teenagers, halal labels and BPOM permits are important considerations. However, the presence of dangerous products that continue to circulate despite having BPOM permits shows that distribution permits alone do not guarantee product safety. Adolescents' limited awareness of active ingredients underscores the importance of research into the factors influencing skincare purchasing decisions. This study aims to determine the relationships among halal labels, BPOM labels, ingredient safety, and skincare side effects on purchasing decisions among adolescent girls at SMAN 1 Bantaeng. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 40 female students in grades X, XI, and XII. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data analysis used the chi-square test. The results showed no relationship between halal labels (p = 0.736), BPOM labels, ingredient safety (p = 0.850), and purchasing decisions. However, there was a significant relationship between side effects of use (p = 0.005) and purchasing decisions. The results showed that side effects influence purchasing decisions. It is recommended to research other factors that affect skin health.

Abstract

Exposure to workplace dust is a chemical hazard that can harm workers' health, especially the respiratory system. Fine dust particles can originate from the production process and cause lung dysfunction and even disability. This study aims to determine the relationship between dust exposure and respiratory disorders in workers at PT Semen Bosowa Maros. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional design. The population in this study was all workers at PT Semen Bosowa Maros, with a sample size of 108 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and dust level measurements using a High-Volume Air Sampler. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that although there was a very weak positive association between dust exposure and respiratory disorders, it was not statistically significant (p = 0.120). Nevertheless, dust exposure remains a risk factor that requires attention. Therefore, companies are advised to continue efforts to prevent and control dust in the workplace. For further research, it is recommended to add additional variables that may influence respiratory disorders and to expand the population coverage to obtain more representative results.
