Abstract

The digitalization of cash waqf represents a pivotal innovation in the development of Islamic social finance amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Despite its vast potential to support social development and empower communities, the actual realization of cash waqf in Indonesia remains significantly underutilized. Key challenges include low public literacy, the absence of comprehensive digital regulations, and limited integration among digital platforms. This study aims to explore the potential, challenges, and strategic roadmap for cash waqf digitalization in Indonesia, with a specific focus on three digital platforms: LinkAja Syariah, e-Salaam, and GoAmal by Dompet Dhuafa. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through library research, this paper draws from scholarly journals, official regulations, DSN-MUI fatwas, and institutional reports. The data were analyzed using descriptive-comparative and content analysis methods. Findings suggest that digitalization enhances accessibility, transactional efficiency, and donor engagement but still faces issues related to trust, governance, and regulatory frameworks. As a contribution, this article proposes a phased roadmap—from short-term literacy campaigns and QRIS integration to long-term blockchain-based national platforms—that may guide policymakers and practitioners. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for multisector collaboration involving BWI, KNEKS, OJK, and waqf institutions to build a sustainable and trustworthy digital waqf ecosystem. Abstract

The Islamic financial system is crucial for driving economic growth in developing countries like Indonesia. Through its functions as a fund intermediary, liquidity provider, investment financing, and risk management, the financial system plays a strategic role in driving a country's economic growth. Based on the principles of justice and the prohibition of usury, the Islamic financial system has the potential to drive economic growth and financial inclusion in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to uncover the role of the Islamic financial system in promoting inclusive economic development in Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative methodology involving the use of descriptive analytical techniques. Data were collected through literature research from accredited national journals, indexed international journals, and other relevant sources. Research shows that Islamic financial assets in Indonesia will increase by 12.48% annually, reaching IDR 2,756.45 trillion by June 2024. The current market share of Islamic finance is 11.41%. This demonstrates public interest in Islamic financial products. Furthermore, as of June 2024, the collection of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and other social funds reached IDR 26.1 trillion, indicating significant growth in Islamic social funds. To maximize the role of Islamic finance in driving Indonesia's economic growth, all stakeholders must work together to improve financial literacy and inclusion, and strengthen regulations, so that the goal of building an inclusive and equitable economy can be achieved. Abstract

The global environmental crisis demands the implementation of sustainable development concepts, including an environmentally friendly green economy. From an Islamic economic perspective, classical fiscal instruments such as kharāj (land tax) and ushr (zakat on agricultural produce) are relevant to supporting the transition to a green economy. This study aims to analyze the potential of kharāj and ushr as green fiscal instruments based on Sharia values. The research method uses a qualitative approach through a literature review of classical (Kitāb al-Kharāj) and modern literature (green economy and sustainable finance). The results of the study indicate that kharāj can be modernized as a green land tax that supports conservation, renewable energy, and reforestation. Meanwhile, ushr can be directed to fund organic agriculture, water management, and the empowerment of smallholder farmers. This study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of an Islamic green fiscal model that is synergistic with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Keywords: kharaj, ushr, green economy, sustainability, SDGs

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations, serve as a global framework for fostering a more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world. Among the 17 goals, SDG 16 emphasizes the importance of peace, justice, and strong institutions, which form the foundation for inclusive and sustainable development. This research focuses on the role of SDG 16 from the perspective of Islamic economics, aiming to explore how the principles of Islamic economics—particularly those related to social justice, wealth distribution, and institutional strengthening—can contribute to achieving these objectives. In the context of Islamic economics, the goal of creating a just and peaceful society is rooted in values such as adl (justice), mizan (balance), and maslahah (public interest), which are central to Islamic policies and economic practices. Islamic economics emphasizes transparency, accountability, and the equitable management of resources, aligning closely with the principles outlined in SDG 16. Additionally, Islamic financial instruments, such as zakat, waqf, and other social funds, play a vital role in strengthening economic structures that promote social justice and community well-being. Using a qualitative approach and comparative analysis, this study examines the application of Islamic economic principles in the context of sustainable development, with a particular focus on Muslim-majority countries that have integrated Sharia-based values into their economic policies. The research also discusses the challenges and opportunities faced by these countries in effectively implementing SDG 16. The findings of this study suggest that the application of Islamic economic principles, which prioritize justice, fair distribution, and the strengthening of legal institutions, can serve as an effective solution for achieving peace, social justice, and strong institutions in these nations. Overall, the study concludes that Islamic economics not only provides a moral and ethical foundation for achieving SDG 16 but also offers practical approaches to addressing social injustice, economic inequality, and social-political instability. Therefore, the integration of Islamic economic principles into sustainable development policies becomes a strategic step toward creating a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world. Abstract

In a fun walk event, the distribution of door prizes is the main attraction for participants because it gives them the opportunity to win various attractive prizes through a lottery system. However, this system is entirely dependent on the luck of each participant. This study aims to examine the practice of buying and selling door prize coupons, the views of religious leaders, and analyze them based on the perspective of Fiqh Muamalah. This study is a field research with a qualitative approach. The data sources consist of primary and secondary data, obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the  organizing committee provides free coupons as well as paid coupons priced at Rp2,000 per sheet as part of the funding for door prize gifts. This practice was carried out without coordination with religious leaders, indicating a lack of communication with the authorities in religious matters. From the perspective of Fiqh Muamalah, the sale of coupons accompanied by a lottery system is deemed inconsistent with the principles of Islamic commerce and categorized as maisir (gambling), as it involves speculative elements and relies on luck, as emphasized in Surat Al-Maidah verse 90. Keywords: Buying and selling, door prize coupons, Fiqh Muamalah
